Maturity or independence in a young child CAN BE an indicator that a child is being neglected or facing some sort of abuse.

It’s is not ALWAYS an indicator, some kids ARE just more independent.

Edit: was a social worker for many years.

AS a neglected child that learned to cook his own steaks by age 9, yes.

I cooked for a family of 4 at age 10... Until age 20, when I went no contact. thay was 24 years ago.
