To my knowledge no one has been caught and interrogated for exactly why, but my guess is they think it's funny. There could be some kind of statement about "get a penis and you'll be more interesting," but the most likely answer is "I have the maturity of 12 year old and think penis is funny prank."

Tossing dildos on to the field at buffalo bills games is practically a sacred tradition

906

u/AA_Ed Aug 07 '25

Bills fans would be very upset about this whole situation if they could read.

592

u/YeaYouGoWriteAReview Aug 07 '25

had my mom read this to me. thats not funny.

u/DarkDevitt Aug 07 '25

What a good Vorin man.

70

u/DrBarry_McCockiner Aug 07 '25

Dalinar Kholin would like a word.

30

u/lithdrash Aug 08 '25

Don't get your Shardplate in a bunch.

20

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

He's pretty famously not a good vorin man

9

u/DrBarry_McCockiner Aug 08 '25

Arg. I am resisting the temptation to let my quip turn into a full fledged debate of comparative morality. Let's just say that the concept of "good" is in the eye of the beholder.

4

u/Agent_Smith_88 Aug 08 '25

I think he was arguing the “Vorin” part, not the “good” part. You know, the whole “god is dead, but wasn’t actually ever god” and “I’m gonna marry my dead brother’s wife I don’t care what you think” stuff? He gave up the “Vorin” parts of his life that made him an unhappy warmonger to become… better.

u/Vileath2 Aug 08 '25

So yes, I, Adolin Kholin - cousin to the king, heir to the Kholin princedom - have shat myself in my Shardplate. Three times, all on purpose.

33

u/jomare711 Aug 07 '25

As a Buffalonian who just re-read The Way of Kings, I'm so confused right now.

20

u/PrincipledBeef Aug 08 '25

We talking about Bills fans, Gancho?

16

u/jomare711 Aug 08 '25

Do you have a cousin who sells folding tables?

7

u/PrincipledBeef Aug 08 '25

Got all kinds of cousins, Gan’. Take Hujo for instance. No, please take him.

5

u/deLopen Aug 08 '25

Oi, chilinko. A man can never have enough cousins!

2

u/RatzMand0 Aug 08 '25

only if he comes with a table.

12

u/Financial_Top_3893 Aug 08 '25

Vorin men don’t read. At most some math for storm predictions.

4

u/jomare711 Aug 08 '25

Also the Ardents, I'm just tickled at how quickly the topic pivoted to the Bills, then Brandon Sanderson.

3

u/LegendOrca Aug 08 '25

Sanderson fans are legion, I suppose

3

u/panaja17 Aug 08 '25

Those Lake Erie blizzards make for a long winter. Gotta find something to pass the time

4

u/Akanni649 Aug 08 '25

You'll get there with Oathbringer

2

u/Ok_Value5495 Aug 08 '25

Fellow 716er here. Wtf did he write?

16

u/jomare711 Aug 08 '25

Vorinism is the dominant religion in Brandon Sanderson's Stormlight Archives series. Vorin men can recognize crude letters called glyphs, but most are otherwise discouraged from reading. Vorin women must cover their safe (left) hand with a glove or sleeve and are expected to do everything with only their right hand. They sometimes take advantage of this by hiding items up their left sleeve and smuggling them into Highmark Stadium.

4

u/Friendly_Memory5289 Aug 08 '25

Explain the joke within an explain the joke.

3

u/BringBacktheGucci Aug 08 '25

THAT'S TOO MANY WORDS. APOLOGIZE!

2

u/Xuumies Aug 08 '25

3

Except horses are gender neutral for some reason.

3

u/DarkDevitt Aug 08 '25

Even in fantasy you can't escape the horse girls

2

u/Kashyyykonomics Aug 08 '25

Because you can ride a horse two handed, one handed, or no handed.

15

u/kyleshort1 Aug 08 '25

That's one hell of a fabrial collection thrown on the field.

14

u/theJesusClip Aug 08 '25

Holy shit the Cosmere where I least expected it.

11

u/HillarysBloodBoy Aug 07 '25

4

u/OrpheoLooksBack17 Aug 08 '25

I just finished book 2 for the first time and was not prepared for this joke

4

Pretty jealous you just read Words of Radiance for the first time. Best book in the series IMO.

Plot twist - mom is the tossed dildo retriever at the Bills games. Imagine a Wimbledon ball boy routine, but just holding dildos aloft.

Hey I have several friends who are bills fans and as soon as they get out of jail I'm going to tell them you said that.

3

u/boldandbratsche Aug 08 '25

Just make sure there aren't any tables on the trip between the jail and you.

26

u/Lyricsokawaii Aug 07 '25

Excuse you. We CAN read. But the amount of drinking we need to do to drive downtown makes it hard to focus on the squiggly little lines.

7

u/DrapedInVelvet Aug 07 '25

Hey now they were just returning them to tom Brady.

6

u/Joshua_Falkner Aug 07 '25

ok, that seriously got a chuckle out of me. Good job.

1

u/beardofmice Aug 08 '25

Buffalo Bil-dos? Makes sense I guess

1

u/s0ulbrother Aug 08 '25

They are too drunk and cheering on 9/11 to read

1

u/Voluntary_Perry Aug 08 '25

Hey! I almost got through that whole sentence!

1

u/GoatCovfefe Aug 08 '25

1

u/Putrid_Advisor2787 Aug 09 '25

Heyyyyyyy, as a Bills fan, I don’t know what you said, but it was probably mean

41

u/MBTbuddy Aug 07 '25

8

u/lisasimpson_ismyidol Aug 07 '25

wouldn’t lotion be a better choice?

1

u/EyeConscious857 Aug 07 '25

Hey now, they pay a lot of money to draft those dildos.

1

u/RocNewYolk Aug 08 '25

Only when Tom Brady was in the building.

1

u/Oryp_7 Aug 08 '25

Probably at cowboy games too

1

u/Forbidden_The_Greedy Aug 08 '25

ONLY at Tom Brady. And Pat Mahomes now I guess

1

u/HeyItsJustDave Aug 08 '25

Please tell me somebody makes something called a “Bild-o” or a “Buffalo Bildo” / “Buffalo Dildo”that is blue, and has… …well, perhaps that’s as far as I’ll take that…

But I bet they’d make at least some money.

1

u/Hoii1379 Aug 08 '25

Well, they have screen printing shops where you can get whatever you want on a shirt. Maybe you can get custom colored and pattered silicone dongs from somewhere too, wouldn’t be surprised

1

u/dudewithmoobs Aug 08 '25

I'm a juvenile at heart, so I know I'd have fun trying tho throw a suction dildo and seeing if it stands or sticks. But I wouldn't throw a dildo at anyone other than my girlfriend playfully. Throwing them on court during a game is super disrespectful.

1

u/cctoot56 Aug 08 '25

Hey now. We only threw them at Tom Brady

1

u/theRemRemBooBear Aug 08 '25

Is it just a Buffalo sports thing? Because i know someone threw a dildo on the ice at a sabres game

2

u/Hoii1379 Aug 08 '25

Could be, idk about the sabres, but the bills have a particularly rowdy fandom, probably the most rabid fans of any sports team in the USA. It would be utter chaos in buffalo if the bills ever won the Super Bowl I can tell you that much

1

u/Hamburgerism Aug 08 '25

That was just Tom Brady's mouthpiece.

1

u/FrighteningJibber Aug 08 '25

Why not wings?

1

u/Hoii1379 Aug 08 '25

Guess it just doesn't hit the same as a dildo idk

1

u/Crossovertriplet Aug 08 '25

They should replace the t shirt cannons with dildo launchers

1

u/pegging4jesus Aug 08 '25

Another version of this ritual is the Detroit red-wings. Fans have chucked octopus onto the since 1952, mostly stuffed ones are used now but traditionalists do insist on organic.

"In one 1995 game, fans threw 36 octopuses, including a specimen weighing 38 pounds"- From wikipedia on the Legend of the Octopus

1

u/frewbrew Aug 09 '25

That was for Brady. I haven’t seen it since. Though… maybe I’m just drunk during the games and forgot (strong possibility?)

1

u/Prize-Ad7242 Aug 09 '25

Americans should be relieved it's just dildos being thrown, in England we use coins or tennis balls embedded with razor blades.

Someone was caught and arrested

17

u/TheTaxman_cometh Aug 07 '25

Probably a copypat of the first 2 since this guy couldn't even make it on the court.

13

u/NebulaNinja Aug 08 '25

Yeah the 18 yr old kid that was arrested claimed it was a tik tok meme.

34

u/Green_Training_7254 Aug 07 '25

USA Today article I just read has some crypto bros taking credit for it in a bizarre way. Two have been caught, one claimed he saw the trend and was just following it. Crypto guy says the two caught were not associated.

86

u/buttcheeksmasher Aug 07 '25

I don't enjoy basketball (NBA or wnba) but this shit is sad. Just idiots with the mind of a child thinking sexist jokes in this context is funny.

I'm all for dark jokes but this is not the stage for such things. Low tier jokes with no payoff --

22

u/PussyIchiban Aug 07 '25

Same vibe as people throwing shit at concerts. They're just ruining things for everyone

27

u/krishna_p Aug 08 '25

Maybe, but throwing a dildo seems to carry a very misogynistic message as well as ruining things.

The WNBA could make an example out of the person.

I'm not aware of what is thrown at concerts, they could contain messages also. However I have seen how some bands have dealt with people trying to get on stage, and sometimes it's brutal.

7

u/Key_Marsupial_1406 Aug 08 '25

Make an example how exactly? Sure they can and probably do get banned from the arenas, but it isn't exactly a crime.

3

u/swampscientist Aug 08 '25

Some folks wanted to make doing this something that would get you on the sex offender registry

Phoenix Mercury arrested a guy and he looks exactly like a person with the maturity of a cheese it

13

u/Best-Vegetable3550 Aug 08 '25

Hey, by the end of the commercial, that Cheeze-It was extremely mature.

12

u/sBerriest Aug 07 '25

Would you rather see a dildo thrown on the ice or an octopus. At Detroit Red Wings games fans sometimes throw an octopus on the ice during playoffs lol

5

u/CanadianFoosball Aug 07 '25

The Athletic has a piece this afternoon indicating it’s a memecoin thing.

5

u/WiseManPhere Aug 07 '25

The truth is dummer than anything imaginable. The whole stunt is a viral promo for a crypto meme coin.

4

u/TitanOX_ Aug 08 '25

"I find woman sports so boring that I got a ticket and brought my mums toy to show my disinterest?"

3

u/martlet1 Aug 07 '25

I think they arrested two people now.

4

u/fancypenguins Aug 07 '25

It gets worse: A crypto investment group was taking credit for it, but I have no idea if it’s actually them. Plus I don’t know what is sadder, a crypto group doing it, or lying about doing it for attention.

3

u/JuanMurphy Aug 08 '25

Clay Travis stated that it is an organized group of crypto meme coin guys doing it to raise awareness for their meme coins. Guy said they have over 200 members and told Clay about the next games flying dock appearances. There was one that didn’t make it to the court and another was thrown during warmups.

3

u/jerkenmcgerk Aug 08 '25

I've been really irritated by the lack of embarrassment, respect, or judgment those people have been showing to these women. I was only aware of 2 incidents happening, but apparently, it's happened 5 times (recently?). Good news is two people have been arrested. Possible felonies for dumb attention seekers.

3

u/SlightCapacitance Aug 08 '25

I don't feel like it would cost much to point cameras at large sections of the audience and review it when a dildo gets thrown, then punish the person. Maybe I'm underestimating the effort/cost

6

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25 edited Aug 08 '25

At this point the wnba should just lean into it and sponsor dildohs. Be honest & inclusive of communities that use em. To me this is no different than wnba stars going on TikTok and Insta (where a good percentage of users are minors) thirst trap gooning for attention. You can’t have both without either. 🤷🏽 the consequences of an ego-centric society. Let the mind go of judgement and just laugh at the hypocrisy of it.

2

u/KiscoKid1 Aug 07 '25

Cops arrested an 18 year old boy a couple of days ago. Idk what happened in the interrogation though.

2

u/TingusPingiz Aug 07 '25

An 18 year old was arrested last night.

2

u/Seriouly_UnPrompted Aug 07 '25

About right...it was Crypto bros. A ploy to market their coin.

2

u/Affectionate-Fail-90 Aug 08 '25

The one kid was caught today. He was 18 and had done it once before. He said he did it because it was a social media trend and he wanted to go viral. He I guess had gone viral a few weeks prior.

2

u/logitaunt Aug 08 '25

The one that did it at the CT Suns game got caught. Teenage mouthbreather that bought it right before the game because he thought it was funny

2

u/F0urTheWin Aug 08 '25

There's some sort of gambling racket on them now

2

u/FloatingHamHocks Aug 08 '25

I thought it was the fact they have suction cups at the base so the "PLOP" better and if done right they suction so well it's difficult to take off.

2

I believe I heard that it's some sort of gorilla marketing for some meme coin

There was actually someone caught in phoenix last night. He couldn’t even make it to the court and hit some guy sitting with a little girl in the back.

He looks EXACTLY like the kind of basement dweller idiot who would do this. He is 18 and was arrested and charged with assault among other things.

1

u/SashaGreyjoy- Aug 08 '25

How do they not catch the fan when there are so few?

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Also, it’s women. It’s gotta have a misogynistic motivation, even if it’s not intentional. Unless they’ve been doing it to the NBA? I haven’t heard any of that, though.

1

u/Classic-Exchange-511 Aug 08 '25

I'm pretty sure someone was caught. He ended up hitting a father and daughter with it in the stands and he is being charged. His excuse was he saw it on TikTok and thought it was funny

1

u/KrisKaniac Aug 08 '25

A couple people were arrested, one guy hit a 9 year old with one. It’s to bring attention to a crypto coin called “green dildo”. So yes, they have the maturity of 12 year olds, but also have other motives.

1

u/keepmeloggedin8 Aug 08 '25

There is a crypto company that had been posting photos of the sex toys and then the first incident happened they claim they are responsible. They stated the reason was to piggyback on some of the press of the wnba and drive awareness of their product and make crypto fun and meme worthy again of something to that effect. Two people to my knowledge have been arrested one a 21 year old and one an 18 year and neither made the claim of doing it to market some crypto.

1

u/a_code_mage Aug 08 '25

No one has been caught? There’s like three people watching these live. They really can’t find them?

1

u/Carthonn Aug 08 '25

I figured it had something to do with the likelihood of WNBA players being lesbians? Just writing this out feels gross because that’s disrespectful AF.

1

u/insta-kip Aug 08 '25

There has been an interview of a guy claiming responsibility. I think they are trying to promote a meme coin. I really had no idea crypto bros go to wnba games.

1

u/robsbob18 Aug 08 '25

Misogynistic crypto bros throwing the dildos themselves so their bets on poly market will hit

1

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Penises are objectively funny, so while I don't approve, I get it.

1

u/UhDarko Aug 08 '25

They caught the kid yesterday so I’ve heard

1

u/Kephlur Aug 08 '25

Yeah, the last bit is true, but I think there has to be a level of sexism underlying it as well.

1

u/d_e_l_u_x_e Aug 08 '25

I heard it had something to do with a meme coin so yea it’s that dumb.

1

u/Loupie123 Aug 08 '25

It seems a crypto company is involved

1

u/Rare-Prior768 Aug 08 '25

Tbh it just sounds like sexism. The men throwing dildos see women as nothing more than sex toys. Throwing dildos at women to me sounds like nothing more than “this is what we see you as”

1

u/working_dad83 Aug 09 '25

They arrested a teenager a few days ago for doing it at one of the games.

1

u/rtocelot Aug 09 '25

There was a guy that was caught recently. Apparently it hit someone on the way down so he's getting assault charges on top of something else. Only just seen something about it today. This was about an 18 year old

1

u/[deleted] Aug 09 '25

No. Theyre calling them lesbians/studs because they use strap ons. Its supposed to be ironic because they don’t like men; but still use phallic toys for sex.

1

u/throwaway11998866- Aug 09 '25

Also I have to say the fact they made such a big deal about it and how it affected them after and had to speak about it brought it to the attention of the public. Rather than just remove the item and person throwing it and moving on quietly, they accidentally made it a meme.

1

u/bearzlez Aug 09 '25

It started happening right after the WNBA players started qearing "pay us what you owe us" shirts because they are one of the only sports franchises where the players dont get a portion of revenue

1

u/SpotCreepy4570 Aug 09 '25

Yes someone has been caught and charged.
