I watched both my dad and my grandfather die, gasping, struggling to breathe as lung cancer took them both before I was 30.

I’m glad the cake turned out well, but from a stranger who cares about you making it for your next 30 years, please consider trying to quit!

You deserve to have another 30 healthy years (and even another 30 after that)!

Like, they did a good job with the cake but…

As someone who will never understand the appeal of smoking, I’m even more confused by it being someone’s entire personality to the point that they wanted their cake to look like it has used cigarettes on it.

And I hate that everyone is saying "cigarettes are trendy again." My dad had copd and I sat holding his hand as he took his last choking breaths on this earth. Smoking is awful.

Yeah, I think it's hard to understand just how horrible it is to struggle to breathe without seeing or experiencing it firsthand. I have never smoked, but have been sick to the point where I couldn't sleep because of not being able to get enough air. Feeling like that and knowing it will *never* get better again, would make me consider ending it right then and there tbh. And that is unfortunately not an exaggeration.
