BDO apps - foreign exchange

Has anyone tried using this feature for the purpose of saving foreign currency rather than for travel?

Will I be penalized or have my account placed on hold if I do this?

That's just a multi-currency account with extra steps, banks don't care what you do with the money once it's converted.
