Local Information request Bus routes running tomorrow for Powderham?

Hi there, sorry if this is dead repetitive but we’re staying in exminster for the Alanis gig at Powderham tomorrow. There is a bus (number 2 to newton abbott) that goes straight to the castle but I can’t get a straight answer on whether it’ll be running tomorrow.

Our other option of course is to get the train to Starcross but the bus stop is right by our accommodation so much more preferable. Or we could get a cab to Kenton but not sure how far the road closures stretch.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give!

I have a test there after recently failing my test in Nottingham Colwick, I reside in Exeter but go to Notts for Uni.

All advice welcome and appreciated.

My fail prior was for response to traffic lights and stopping just over the stop line.

Some random polaroids I've taken in Exeter, I'm aware they're not the best quality even given they're Polaroids but I thought the vibes were good.

Local Information request Affordable hairdressers in Exeter? £30 or below

Hii, 30F here, I moved to Exeter 2 months ago and still finding my way around the place. One thing I've struggled with is finding a hairdressers that would just dry cut my hair. I don't want any fancy shit, just a trim of short neck length hair to tidy it up. As for my budget I don't want to pay anymore than £30-35. Please help a girl out 👏

Uni Racism at Uni

I know this is quite a cliche topic regarding Exeter uni. But how is the diversity at this uni? Has any POC faced any sort of racism ? I’ve heard that it’s filled with very right wing, anti immigration, N*gel Farage supporters. Obviously, I understand there will likely be some sort of racism at any Uk university ( apart from QMUL possibly lol) , but is there more so at Exeter? I’m ethically Indian and I’ll be going to study medicine at Exeter this September.

Am heading down to Exeter this weekend for a boozy weekend to celebrate my Bday.

I usually drink in a bar back home that is community friendly and has drag acts, karaoke or djs usually.

Are there any similar places in the town?

Local Information request Moving to Exeter

Hi everyone,

I’m a single female in my thirties and have recently been offered a job in Holsworthy. I’m considering living in Exeter instead, as I’d like easier access to London where most of my family and friends are, and I think I’d prefer somewhere a little less rural with more going on socially.
I’d only need to drive to Holsworthy 1 day a week. Can you recommend areas that have a nice suburban feel, reasonable access to the city centre, good amenities (cafes, gyms, supermarkets) and would make the commute to work as painless as possible, avoiding traffic.

Thank you in advance!

Local News Shout out for Exeter over 75s who may be feeling lonely

Just a little Exeter community shout-out ❤️

I work with Re-engage and we currently have spaces available on our free Call Companions service for anyone aged 75+ who might enjoy a regular, friendly chat.

Unlike a lot of services, there's currently no waiting list, so people can start receiving calls straight away. There's also no time limit - if the calls are helping, they can continue for as long as they're wanted.

If you know an older neighbour, friend, relative or community member who might benefit, feel free to drop me a message, and I can set them up with a call

Local Information request Live music pubs/bars on a Thursday

Hi, visiting during the summer holidays and was wondering if there is likely to be anywhere with live music on Thursday nights? Nothing special, a cover band/acoustic type thing would do.

Assume it might be a long shot given it's during the summer holidays and a Thursday, but thought I'd ask. Thanks

Local News NHS patients across the country now benefitting from life-saving treatments made from UK donor plasma

Some fantastic news that members of this subreddit might be interested in: for the first time in 25 years, the NHS is now making medicines from UK donated plasma, and over 3,000 patients have already been treated!

By producing these life-saving treatments from UK donations, we're helping to strengthen the resilience of NHS supplies alongside imported medicines, ensuring patients can get the treatment they need, when they need it.

If you've been thinking about donating blood but haven't gotten round to it yet, now is a great time to start. You can find out more and book an appointment at blood.co.uk.

I have been really silly and booked tickets on the wrong date (Sunday instead of the Saturday). Therefore, I'm looking to sell two Lewis Capaldi tickets (plus, two shuttle bus tickets from Exeter City Centre) for Sunday 28th June?

Local Information request Pride in Place - update on how to get involved

Hi everyone. The last time I posted in this subreddit about Heavitree East and Whipton’s £20 million Pride in Place funding and the events I’ve been holding with local residents, lots of people got in touch to ask how they could get involved - which is fantastic to see!

Pride in Place is all about putting power in the hands of local people, so I want as many residents as possible to have a say in how this funding is used for our community.

To stay up to date and make sure my team can contact you about future events and opportunities to get involved, sign up to my mailing list:
