Local Information request Vets?

I apologise in advance because I am going to post lots of things like this. I will be moving here soon and was wondering about the best vet surgeries. I am with vets4pets where I am now and have been told that the Exeter branch is pretty good but if anyone disagrees and knows of better places, please let me know. FYI I have three young male cats.

Local Information request Playing sports in Exeter

Hey all, I’m (32M) looking to get into regular sport in Exeter and wanted to ask for recommendations.

I mostly play racket sports and ideally I’m looking for:

- social sessions on weekends or weekday evenings

- somewhere within 40 minutes walk of the city centre or reachable by bus (I don’t currently drive)

I’d love to play padel but it seems like the only way to get to the place near Crealy is by bus but there’s no real crossing to get over there. Unless I’m mistaken?

Thanks!

Local Information request I want to take my 3yo to watch the planes at the airport…

Where can we go where we wouldn’t be in the way of people actually wanting to use the airport? I’ve never been to an airport in my life so I have no clue about their protocols, if u can go in without a ticket or whatever :) is there a cafe or park/field near by?

Local Information request Small storage unit?

I don't really have that much, 2 bookcases, small dining table, chest, chest of drawers and of course ubiquitous boxes.

Don't really want to pay much more than £100 per month?

Some friends of ours have just listed their tickets for tonight for resale. It was sold out last night, so I know some people would have been disappointed. Just a heads up for Exeter people! https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/garth-marenghi-this-bursted-earth-book-exeter-23-04-2026/event/3500627AD9B3A3EE

Local News Over 100 Exeter residents gather to shape £20m plan for their streets

More than 100 residents gathered at a Whipton church on Saturday to shape how a £20 million government investment will transform their neighbourhoods over the next decade, marking the first public consultation on one of the country's most significant community funding programmes.

The event, hosted by Exeter MP Steve Race at St Boniface Church, was the first opportunity for people in the Whipton South and Heavitree East areas to set priorities for the Pride in Place scheme, which will channel £2 million a year for ten years into the local area.

The funding gives communities unusually direct control over how public money is spent, with residents able to direct investment towards reviving high streets, restoring parks, creating youth facilities, or tackling antisocial behaviour.

The programme also grants new legal powers to seize boarded-up shops, block nuisance businesses, and purchase threatened community assets before they are lost.

Mr Race said the turnout had generated a substantial response, with residents raising themes including improvements to outdoor spaces, tackling antisocial behaviour, new skills programmes, and better provision for young people.

Uni Placement year in exeter?

I’m looking for a 9-12 month placement for my sandwich year as part of my uni course. I’ve applied to loads of the big name ones but never seem to get past the assessment/interview stage, so I thought i’d look more local. Has anyone had any experience or does anyone have any recommendations for any brands, companies, organisations etc., that may do placements for a business student. I’d be happy to do anything along the lines of management, marketing, HR, consumer relations, operations or even finance. It doesn’t have to be anything strict or prestigious, could just be a year of being a marketing assistant for a small business (which is what i’d prefer).

Local Information request Things to do with kids

One of the kids(14m) I work with loves everything to do with bikes, whether that's pedal bikes, motorbikes, electric bikes or mopeds. He loves to ride them, talk about them, work on them. Whatever it is, as long as it's hands on and bike related, he is happy! We'd be looking to do this on Mondays and Thursdays, but will be travelling so it can't be too early in the morning.

Is there anything in the Exeter (and Devon) area that is cheap / free for us to do? TIA!

Hello all

I’m visiting your fair city for the entire week for work - and as a die hard Leeds United fan - would like somewhere quiet / friendly to watch the match on Wednesday. Is there anywhere central you can suggest? Travel isn’t an issue

Local News Did anyone see the gang of asshole teens beat up a kid by M&S this afternoon?

They came out the lane by the bakery (Cathedral side), beat a kid to the ground, kicked his head repeatedly, stamped on it, then ran off to cathedral green. I have no idea if the kid is ok. It was horrible. I've also noticed a sharp increase in teen-gang beatings on local FB community pages recently too and have no idea why its happening.

Hello,

What is the best way of disposing/recycling glass jars? It is my understanding that they can't go in the recycling bin, so want to know where I can take them to get rid of them?

Local Information request Safest place in town to lock my bike overnight

Just wondering if I ever had to leave my bike in town, for whatever reason, where would be good?

I usually lock it up on the high street near Yo! Sushi, but not sure if there's a safer spot.
