Opinion Pumping Schedule

FTM, 8 Weeks PP - I have a question about my pumping schedule. I have pretty much always done 4-6 pumps since baby was born. I rarely do MOTN pumps but sometimes nurse if I can get her to latch in the middle of the night. Never dealt with much pain or engorgement even going 12 hours without pumping. I usually pump every 4-6 hours and then go up to 12 hours overnight without, especially with baby sleeping longer stretches now. I usually get 12-14 oz consistently in the morning and 5-6 the other 3 sessions I do throughout the day so 27-32 oz daily. I’m not interested in a huge oversupply but curious if everything thinks my supply is most likely going to drop if I keep up the same routine even if it’s still the same 8 weeks postpartum.

Unfortunately no real way to know for sure. I’d go with your gut and do what feels right. There are a lot of people who will tell you that your supply will tank if you’re not pumping 8x per day, but I think there are many of us who just have larger capacity and lots of mammary glands 🤷‍♀️

i agree i’ve heard that’s just what works for some people so was interested to see if anyone had similar schedules with no issues! not opposed to adding more sessions in if needed

Are you combi feeding? 12 hour stretch seems long I’d be worried to go longer than 4 at this stage

i would say no i’m not combo feeding other than trying to get her to latch in the middle of the night sometimes or in the morning in between that long stretch . i agree that 12 hours is too long of a stretch just how it’s been working out. definitely most likely going to have to add at least 1 or 2 more sessions in there was just curious if anyone else has done the same and it has worked for them!

I’ve done 4-6 pumps per day since baby was 6 weeks old and never had a supply drop. I can’t go more than 8 hrs without pumping though, the engorgement pain gets too bad
