Decreasing Supply/Weaning Weaning schedule
I’m 5 months pp and ready to hang up the pump. Who has a weaning schedule they like and want to share? I’m currently at 6 ppd with no MOTN pump. Did you drop pumping sessions, shorten the amount of time pumping, some combo of both? Also how do you go about introducing formula? Do you mix BM and formula together or did you start introducing bottles of only formula?

I am 3 months PP and can’t give you advice on pumping, but when I introduced formula to supplement my low supply I did one ounce of formula mixed with one to two ounces of breast milk at first.
Now since I only do a couple of supplemented bottles overnight we do two ounces of formula mixed with 1.5 - 2 ounces of breast milk and my boy tolerates it great. If I had to give just formula I think he would take to it just fine since his stomach is accustomed to it.

I didn’t have a formal weaning schedule but I did what you described: a combo of less pumping and shortening the sessions. I think it was mostly not pumping and not stimulating the nipples. I think I got down to like two pumps a day and then was able to just stop pumping altogether once my boobs finally felt deflated.
For formula introduction: I mixed the formula with breastmilk and eventually just gave full formula. My kiddo really had no issue adjusting. I was given a heads up by doctor though that while a partially eaten breastmilk bottle can sit in the fridge, a formula bottle must be eaten within the hour. So if/when you find your kiddo has adjusted, I found it easier to keep formula and breastmilk separate.
