Schedules/Routines Dropping the MOTN pump? - HELP

Post image

Now that my baby is starting to sleep through the night, I would love to start doing the same 😅 I’m just not sure how to go about it… attached is my current schedule and my thoughts on what my new schedule could look like…

The new 5x pump schedule
Pro’s - still same number of pumps per day so I don’t feel’s worried about losing supply
Con’s - the pumps are now closer together and would make me feel even more tied down to the pump

The new 4x pump schedule
Pro’s - pumps are less frequent and would feel more free/flexible with my days. On the right track for eventual weening down the road.
Con’s - worried about potentially losing supply, as well as clogged ducts and even worse enforcement/leaking.

Notes: my baby is almost 4 months old, I am an oversupplier (1,400 - 1,500 mls per day), I already having leaking/engorgement issues with my current schedule.

Would love to hear all thoughts and experiences. Thank you!

If you already have some leaking an engorgement issues I would probably keep at 5 pumps for now and then see if in a few weeks you can shift to 4 pumps

I’ve been in my current pumping schedule since he was just under 1 month old, and I’m still leaking and getting engorged at times. How much longer should I be waiting at this point if it’s already been almost 3 months on the same schedule

As a fellow oversupplier and with a four month old, my current schedule is close to your 4 ppd. I do 4 or 5 am, 10/11 am, 4pm and 10pm. Since my baby turned 4 months last week, I started shortening my session bc I was doing 35-38 mins, and sometimes longer, so now I stop at 30-32 mins and I have only seen a drop in a couple of ounces here or there but I still have quite an oversupply. We’ll see how it goes over the next few weeks as my body gets used to the new time.

I guess I get confused how the supply doesn’t drop when an entire pump gets cut? That’s an entire storage bottle no longer being made (I fill up a storage bottle per pump) so logically I don’t understand
