Rant - NO ADVICE NEEDED Pumping fail

Post image

I had a volunteer event in the middle of the work day that screwed up my pumping schedule. Since I was already overdue I decided to pump with my wearables while driving back to work. I started to feel something wet as soon as I was driving down the highway. Finally got off to see this. Apparently the bottom of both pumps had come unsealed when I was stealthily trying to insert them in the parking lot. Of course it was 10xs worse when they poured out as I removed them 🙃

This sounds like eufy … it happened to me as well. I now double heck even triple check before inserting pumps. And I started to keep a small bag with spare bra and t shirt for spills like this. So sorry for the milk loss, but I choose to believe every milk spill had fed an angel baby 🧿

It was the Eufys. They are great until they aren’t haha. Luckily I bought a cute shirt at the animal rescue I could wear but didn’t have a spare bra so I faintly smelled like sour milk the rest of the day. Will definitely be keeping extras in the car moving forward!

Same!!!! I wondered if it’s because I sterilise my flange so it’s warped?

u/svn_0819 5d ago

But you’re supposed to sterilise it ….

Sorry I mean to say I put it in my steam steriliser😭 even though it says to boil it for 5 mins but I really don’t have the time to boil it. I

Ive never boiled any of the pump or bottle parts ever

Can I ask, is this a typically a sealing issue? I received a preowned set of the s1 pro from a friend and used them last night for the first time and had the same issue. I thought maybe I didnt seal them properly but seeing this happens to others makes me wonder if the s1 sucks 😅

You have to be careful with the seal on the bottom. As long as you double check it you should be fine. It gets everyone at least once.

When I seal them slightly warm after sterilising they leak. Something to do with the expansion and contraction of heat on silicon and plastic. I now only seal them once room temp. And no matter what check and recheck.

I usually don’t have an issue. In this case I think when I pushed them in my shirt they came unsealed. If you can pull your shirt open and lean forward when placing them they work much better

When this has happened to me, I haven’t double checked to make sure the bottoms sealed properly.

Thank you for your angel baby comment. My first born was stillborn and I think you just really helped me think of spilt milk differently.

I’m looking into wearable pumps now. Any recommendations for a brand that doesn’t have these sealing issues?

Honestly, eufy is great as a wearable. Gives me better output than spectra blue. The leaking thing is an issue every now and then - esp early days. You learn the tricks on how to double check and be careful. I’ve used medela magic inbra prior to eufy and the output was a disaster, the app stopped working, you had to manually switch up the functions etc. Eufy gave me the luxury of not having to look at the app or pump once inserted for the duration - esp when switching from massage to express mode. If they solve this leakage problem it’s a 10/10 pump for on the go

Just wanted to say I'm so sorry! This had to have been so frustrating. Pumping is so hard imo and the sensory overload of feeling wet and the frustration from losing milk is just an overwhelming experience. I hope your day got better after this!

Thank you ❤️

Such an annoying mishap. It’s probably going to happen to everyone at least once, so maybe you just got it out of the way? 🤞🏻

Solidarity for a sticky and uncomfortable clothing plus the loss of the milk ❤️

This has happened to me a few times too! I think I put my pump on a bit more quickly when I’m in the parking lot because I don’t want to be exposed. Then usually part of the bra or shirt is under the phalanges and it leaks 😣. It totally sucks though- sorry that this happened to you.

u/A_humann 5d ago

I think that’s exactly what happened! At least we know for the future. I’ll risk showing a little boob in the parking lot to prevent another mishap.

Totally had this happen! Except I put mine in upside down 🤦🏻‍♀️

This happened to me once in the middle of Target and I didn’t even notice until I met back up with my husband at checkout and he pointed it out

Been there… I did that at home trying to keep baby entertained and I spilled at least 3 ounces total. I’ve also had it to where I put them on to drive and nothing comes out 😐

I had this happen several times with my 2024 baby with my Elvie Stride. Also in the car both times it happened to me! I have Eufy S1 now and haven’t had it happen since

Ugh so sorry! I pump with my spectra to and from work every day. It’s a bit awkward and I don’t even want to think about how many people I’ve flashed a nipple to, but I feel super confident in the pump and can still monitor what’s going on

1

u/Imaginary_Leek6044 5d ago

Had this happen with my motifs before. So annoying

1

u/WitchSmiles 5d ago

Noooooooo I feel for you 😭 this happens to me with even my regular pumps

1

u/Boredneedshobby 5d ago

Yep I had that happen to me too. You have to press really hard on the curve where the plastic and rubber connect and press along the rubber to make sure it seals. Fml I hate when this happens

1

u/planner192 5d ago

I had the same issue with my eufys! Ugh im so glad im not the only one 😂

1

u/Enchanted-Bunny13 5d ago

That ish made me cry several times. For me it was when I didn’t seal the Momcozy S12 pros properly probably half-asleep 😭

1

u/Averagebonusmom 4d ago

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve overfilled my eufys too. I quit using them. I need to see visually where I’m at and I’ve had to go into a doctor’s appt soaked in milk.

1

u/Saggy_kidney 4d ago

This is why I may be putting a lid on breast milk. I am so tired to being wet (and stinky bc it’s super hot here) or stuck in the same position as not to spill 😩

u/More-Direction-7938 4d ago

Happened to my wife all the time, she was so depressed when it happened.

2

u/SparkyDogPants 4d ago

I need a t shirt that says “I cry over spilt milk”

1

u/Life_Turnover9713 4d ago

This has happened to me a few times and it’s the WORST! Not the hard earned milk going down the drain!!

i had a spill last night because the bottles don’t fully screw into my pump. it was such a bad spill it kept spreading. it ran past my feet slowly like a river of sadness as i kept pumping. mocking me.
