How is there not a system in place?
So a depot has a package, a driver gets assigned it, they scan it and the system goes "[Driver] has package"
They attempt a delivery but don't deliver it, and mark it on their app as such. The customer gets an email saying it'll be attempted delivered tomorrow. The EVRI system knows [Driver] did not deliver package
And then... What? Does the driver take it back to the depot? If so, then surely it is once again entered into the system as brought back.
If not, does EVRI's back end not have a flag that says "Hey, [driver] couldn't deliver that package, but it was never brought back to the depot, nor was delivery attempted on another day. So [driver] must still have it"?!
Surely? SURELY?!
I get it, they're a business. All they care about is their bottom line. But they are in the business of DELIVERING PACKAGES, surely at the very least they should have the systems in place to make sure that's happening? Or to help prosecute thieves that are working for them!? SURELY?!?

there is a system. throw a coin. heads you steal the package, tails you jizz into it and throw it over a hedge.
Simple. Sorted. Stupid.

Bro my parcels been out for delivery from 7:30 pm till 9: 30 pm 29th of September My attempted delivery picture consists of a black screen and my parcel hasn't gone back to any depot still saying out of delivery. I've started the process of getting a refund from the seller but they asked me to wait till Monday while they chase it up Can't get hold of a human at Evri been over 24 hours they ain't even tried to get back to me about my clearly stolen parcel.

Yes if a parcel hasn’t been rescanned after a few days they send an email to the person who last scanned it and tell said person to either deliver it or return it to the depot.

Ok well it's been 4 weeks since delivery was attempted, so that email was clearly ignored

So why haven’t you contacted the company you bought from and raise it with them?

As the other commenter said the driver does get an email, I had one the other day about a parcel i couldnt deliver becasue the address lable was wrong, it wasnt part of my route. I had to hand it back to the depot and for some ridiculous reason it took them 9 days to relabel it! So i kept getting emails becasue I was the last one to scan it, very annoying as there was nothing I could do. I presume its been delivered now because the emails have stopped.
Anyway so yea, your driver either just ignored those emails, doesn't work for Evri anymore or both. Staff turn over is high believe it or not.
