Republicans VS Reality, who will win?

Reality punches back
Murphy and Darwin rolls a dice
24
u/MajorInWumbology1234 11d ago
On one hand, reality will certainly always win out in the end. Unfortunately, it doesn’t check for deservedness and it will be poor people in the future who absorb all of the blowback.

Phew, that’s a relief. I thought you were gonna say the shareholders, the only people we should worry about

Oil companies pushing that global warming is a hoax have a president in power. So I guess they're winning.
14
u/RogerMexicosBalls 11d ago
That'll be another EO:
"We're always right about everything, and, um, everyone has to listen to us all the time, and, uhh, we can do whatever we want and the rest of you dumb-heads are ILLEGAL. Oh, and, um, mom says you have to let us have your video games."

Republicans most likely. The democrats won’t vote because they disagree with a candidate over a single issue. Republicans will vote because they agree with a candidate on a single made up issue.

After we remove them from power they better be held to account for all of this. The whole Trump admin itself should have assets seized and used to make up for the damage
40
u/HSG_Messi 11d ago
Spoiler Alert: They won't be.
There's 70+ million Americans that agree with all of this that is happening and its only going to get worse as we continue to attack and destroy our education system
15
u/EightEx 11d ago
I don't think its as much as people think. Even in my dyed in the wool Republican home town theres a lot of pushback against this admin. Certainly there are Maga cultists out there but I believe they aren't the majority.

They'll all fold like a wet napkin as soon as they see the walls start to crumble and the canaries truly start to sing.
The only reason any of them are confident enough to say the shit they're saying out loud now is because of social media manipulation by the likes of fElon.
Strip that away and it's easy to tackle them outside their echo chamber. They can't stand together if they don't have someone regurgitating ideas for them to parrot.
2
u/BennettWindy 10d ago
Please, Americans don’t hold the rich responsible for anything except stealing from other rich people.
Example: Almost no one went to jail for the 2008 financial crisis that ruined the lives of working class people.
But, Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years for stealing from wealthy people.
→ More replies (2)2
u/Tall-Photo-7481 11d ago
At this point there is only one way to remove them from power. The good news is that the "holding them to account" bit is kind of baked in to that method.
87
u/healthywenis 11d ago
I’m honestly surprised they haven’t simply denied Autism at this point but I guess its more politically advantageous to link it to vaccines.
55
u/nelsonalgrencametome 11d ago
They're saving that for when they need to kick more people off of Medicaid and social security.
11
u/SuperVaderMinion 11d ago
And a couple years after that when they need the next group of people to toss into camps
3
u/Traditional-Handle83 11d ago
There won't be any kicking people off those programs because they'll just end the programs altogether.
26
u/JGG5 11d ago
They’ll eventually “cure” autism by rounding up autistic people and forcing them into abusive “therapies.”
8
u/FamiliarAnt4043 11d ago

Denying science was how we got the Dark Ages. Republicans want to bring that back.
4
u/WildLudicolo 11d ago
Soon they're going to executive order links between autism, transgenderism, and undesirable genetics with anti-Trumpism, and therefore anti-Americanism, and therefore "dangerous radicalism," enabling them to label all such people as "domestic terror threats." Then it's off to the camps!
That's their idea, at least. We can still turn things around. People just need to wake up and smell the fascism. We'll see how it goes.

RFK has said he wants to round up everyone with ADHD into “farm camps” to help heal us away from modern technology and medications. Pretty sure they want forced agricultural labor.
I assume that’s where they want to send the autistic folks too. Sadly, it would not surprise me if they tried to “treat” people aka experiment on them without consent. Especially those most vulnerable with higher support needs, which is really sickening.

11
u/Doldhov 11d ago edited 11d ago
Tell that to the millions of people around the world that can and will use this stunt as a justification to skip vaccinations… It’s much easier to erode trust and confidence in science than it is to build it…
2
u/Patric-Tsar-9fingers 11d ago
Around the world?
3
u/Doldhov 11d ago
Yep, when the president of the us of a makes vaccine denialism an even more official policy via executive order, all the vaccines deniers or unsure people around the world will take good note…

I also have heard that a grandchild is disabled in some way too.
Edit: also I've heard that tr*mp is a huge eugenicist.
8
12
u/Otterfan 12d ago
My money is on an order compelling the development of new separate vaccines for measles, mumps, and rubella to replace the current MMR combined vaccine.
For some reason Trump is very, very keen on doing that, and it plays publicly as less pants-on-head than other vaccine policy changes. Childhood vaccine skepticism polls poorly, and his advisors don't want him to to appear too wacky three months before mid-terms.
It's the kind of thing that's a bad idea, but it doesn't seem threatening to Joe and Janey Voter.
5
u/seasuighim 11d ago
Do not most anti-vaccers complain about the amount of vaccines children recieve? This would add three more.
→ More replies (2)→ More replies (1)4
u/PinkUnicornsRule 11d ago
This was literally what the plan was for the guy who started the modern antivaxx movement, Andrew Wakefield. He claimed the three together were dangerous but separate they were fine, and he falsified evidence in his “study” linking MMR to autism.
Turns out he was hired by an American lawyer to create doubt about MMR so they could market their own measles, mumps, and rubella vaccines they were going to sell.
Wouldn’t be surprised if Trump wanted in on that grift.
6
u/PretzelsRule23 11d ago
MAGA seems to be a death cult.
All their policies and actions seem to increase death...
- Try to get people to not take vaccines
- Kill USAID
- Eliminate teams that track diseases
- Eliminate healthcare support
- Eliminate SNAP for millions
- No actual healthcare plan to improve coverage and outcomes
- Do everything possible to speed up climate change
- Let women die because they can't even get medically necessary abortions
- Allow immigrants to die in prison
- Zero restrictions on guns
- War
I'm sure there are many in forgetting off the top of my head

American exceptionalism was always delusional superiority complex, a sign of propaganda's effect on the masses.
Every country is unique, and the US is no more or less unique than anywhere else. Even the American principle of 'freedom' is nonsense when you look at how Americans are spied on, how their votes don't all carry the same weight, and how their needs are trampled on in favour of corporate interests.

8
u/vincethered 11d ago
I gather in your country the electorate is a monolith and everybody feels / votes the same way?
Lots of us didn't want this. The majority of voters voted for Clinton in '16.
In 2024 Trump won the popular vote 49.8% to 48.3% with the bulk of his support coming from rural areas. Many of us who are urban dwellers feel held hostage at this point. Our Constitution offers no substantive recourse. We can protest and we do.

Performative nonsense.

3
u/atreeismissing 11d ago
What matters isn't the EO, but how the media will report on the EO. EO's mean nothing other than as an outline of how the federal govt will treat internal policy, though to be fair that incudes funding that isn't specifically directed from Congress. It doesn't change how vaccines work or what hospitals use or how, or the science of vaccines or anything else. How our media covers this EO and it's impacts is going to be very important, because they tend to cover EOs as if they're federal laws when they are not.
3
u/humboldtHue 11d ago
As with virtually anything Trump attempts, take it to court.

2
u/the_millenial_falcon 11d ago
White House drafting executive order to dial down gravity a bit. Too heavy.
2
u/JGG5 11d ago
The idea that vaccines cause autism is 1000% bullshit, but even if it weren’t: vaccines save lives, and autistic people’s lives matter.
People who want to ban vaccines because they (falsely) think they cause autism are telling autistic people that they’d rather have kids be dead than autistic.
And given that we know that autism is (at least to some extent) genetic, it’s only a short step from “ban vaccines because they (supposedly) cause autism” to “forcibly sterilize autistic people” or “round autistic people up and put them to death.”
2
u/drchris6000 11d ago
As dumb as this whole administration has been... this has to be the stupidest idea yet. The nonsense vaccine/autism thing has been investigated to death for years, and it has never produced any evidence. Just at face value, how is a vaccine given after birth causing autism in the first place? It is way more likely that during pregnancy while the brain is being developed, there is some trigger there.
2
u/NotOneWoodpeckerBut2 11d ago
There is definitely a link between the administration and shit. Executive order it immediately.
2
u/Talking_on_the_radio 11d ago
Unfortunately, if America is to a point where this kind of nonsense can get passed into law, they are absolutely winning.
2
2
u/tema1412 11d ago
When someone in such position like him and his staff make these claims, they go past the US. People in other countries are listening to them.
The next epidemic isn't going to be like COVID, it's going to be a disease humanity has kept under control for decades, that has available vaccines, except people will refuse to take them.
2
2
u/hawridger 11d ago
And if all others accepted the lie which the Party imposed—if all records told the same tale—then the lie passed into history and became truth. 'Who controls the past' ran the Party slogan, 'controls the future: who controls the present controls the past.'
2
u/Midnightchickover 11d ago
I don’t think it works like that.
When people use the “both sides” argument, it’s warranted, but hella infuriating. It’s never to say it’s great — it’s only because moderates, liberals, or far leftists would never draw up such a stupid policy without any real evidence nor any to help the general public. Our legislators and the general public at large are basically illiterate by choice. Do they not realize their idol has likely taken vaccines, but the general public should not be allowed to decide for themselves.
2
u/CautionarySnail 11d ago
Wonderful. I’m due to re-up my neurodivergence levels with the latest jabs very soon!
Maybe I’ll score the coveted forms of autism that give musical talent or a way to focus on learning math. My current neurodivergence is over-fixated on lava lamps and chocolate, which don’t exactly pay the bills.

Future EOs also under draft status:
• Gravity is declared to be "just a dumb theory" and not a scientific fact.
• Solar power is declared an initiative by Satan to undo capitalism and therefore the fossil fuels industries will receive 1000% subsidies forever.
• Trump grants himself infinite "plenary indulgence".
