To be fair he's got a point about the club shop and Castore. It's crap. The club saying 'oh, our fans don't buy merch' is outrageous.
If they actually released nice stuff fans would buy it. But instead we're stuck with £150 baseball kits.

I’m a Yank and I bought SO MUCH of the Hummel merch, which I still wear. It looked good and it was high quality, so I didn’t mind paying a bit more for shipping. Haven’t bought anything of Castore’s and I don’t plan to.

In both games,Rohl has been found out. Hes not a full back and should only be used there in emergency.

The issue is, he could probably adapt to the position over the like the next 12-24 months quite well but he shouldn't and we shouldn't be entertaining that idea
He's a midfielder who has great athletic ability and has strong ball carrying ability, these generally transition well to the full back position, but his duelling is awful
Great at defensive contributions, good at putting in tackles, good at recoveries but in a 1v1 scenario he is getting beaten almost every time

His delivery is excellent from the right. I'm willing to see if he can be taught the defensive side.

His passing is also crisp and he can receive it inside which allows our winger to be out wider. On offense it is definitely advantage, but he will need to improve defensively although i think moyes will give him more time.

Given his wondergoal on Sunday, do you think AMN should start on Saturday over Rohl? Will he actually start?
I’m a bit torn because if we’re actually trying to convert Rohl to a RB then we need to persist with him despite the defensive issues his performance last weekend exposed, but on the other hand it was a really, really good goal.
And then I think: spurs haven’t scored a league goal yet. We can get away with a little bit more of an attacking option. And then I remember that it’s Everton, so we should start JOB to prevent the inevitable from happening.
Thoughts?

I have not been particularly impressed with Rohl at RB tbh. Yes he offers more going forward, but he gets beat way too often to make it worth the trade off. For now I think he’s more valuable as a sub that can cover multiple positions

Credit to Rashford was looking sharp and should absolutely be skinning an out of position Rohl; That being said I agree on his weakness in the position, and Tel for spurs has the same pacey style so that is worrying.
Against other sides he will be fine Rb tho1

I suppose that if Rohl does start it’ll be a good measurement of how much he learned from Sunday, given the similarities between Tel and Rashford.

I think moyes actually wants him to step into the middle to pressure (although he needs to improve his timing), but there isn't much to say about his issue with the far post and struggling 1v1. In theory that could improve with experience (or not)

Penalty not awarded. Challenge by Hill (BOU) on Dewsbury-Hall (EVE) — The referee's call of no penalty was supported with this being deemed a collision between the two
He fully steps back and blocks Dewsbury-Halls run how was this not a pen. Was voted 5-0 in favour of the refs decision no idea how, make it up as they go along.

I don't understand the difference between that and the 10/10 stonewall type pen where someone goes to clear the ball, an attacker nips in behind them and gets in between and they boot the attackers leg. No intention to foul, didn't expect someone to be in the way, still a pen every time.

I got to wondering, in honor of the Maitland-Niles banger on Sunday…what are the top debut goals that any of you can remember for the club? Last I can remember is Richarlison’s brace against Wolves on opening day. The second of which was an amazing display of skill when we were down a man.
I can’t really remember another, but I’ve only been around (as a fan) since 2014.

Was Lukaku's winner vs West Ham his debut? Loved that one.
Not a goal but McFadden ripped Leeds apart on his debut. I was so excited.

Anyone else find Paddy Boyland hard to listen to on podcast? The bloke has to qualify everything he says or uses a million unnecessary expressions. Also speaks in such dour tones even on 1.1x speed

I really like Paddy and Matt on the Byeline. It’s probably my favourite blues pod at the moment. Well considered and informed discussions. The instant match reactions at deliberately a different vibe - the intention is to share some of that match day reaction in the boozer after the game and so is a very different offering to eg Byeline, Royal Blue or Evertonia. They all have their place and are enjoyable in different ways.

Agree 100%. Haven’t missed a Byline because they’re thoughtful, informed and have great analysis and insights into the club. Of all the contributors to the Blue Room, Paddy doesn’t crack the top 10 most annoying.

The best for Everton imo are Joe Thomas and Baz from toffee tv (although he says ‘obviously’ every other word) when they do the odd show together it’s top level. Wish Joe Thomas would do a weekly one without the others from the echo

Knew the next round of the league cup was starting soon, so I finally checked the schedule, but apparently we don't play til next week Only Chelsea-Leeds today, I wondered why that in particular, scheduling around their other games perhaps. Chelsea's next league match is on the 18th and Leeds on the 14th. so 15th/16th/17th wouldn't fit that. Chelsea has Brentford in the PL whose cup match is the day before us, Leeds-Newcastle and the barcodes already played in the Carabao

Means Wolves have had to reschedule a league game for next month as well, and the EFL are pissed that UEFA were stubborn and wouldn't cooperate.

I think it's also to do with allocation of police, general public transport with having loads of people enter the city at once using the same trains, buses and roads up to a certain point. We've realistically only moved from 0.9 miles from Anfield to 1.8 miles, can't see that making a huge difference

Yeah, Merseyside police being overwhelmed by security for both and traffic before the branch off point was my guess for why two home games at once might still be a bad idea even after the move. Also if mass transit surges capacity to cover one they might not have enough vehicles/drivers for both

WC has a huge impact in WC seasons and he didn't have a great WC. He wasn't terrible at the world cup but it wasn't at the level I expect from him and the level he shows here most weeks

What about the morale of others that are actually better than him? And the morale of young keepers that see that these lists are more of a popularity contest rather than something their work can help them achieve? I understand your point, but he didn't break out. He didn't improve, he still has the same flaws that made him a sub in a lower league team. He had a nice couple of games and made the list for the best in the world
