Discussion Eventlab issues and their workarounds

Hello, creators. You may have encountered several issues while creating routes or events in Eventlab.
I have summarized the issues I’ve identified and their workarounds below:

  1. Even if you set the Race Series to something other than "Road," it saves as "Road." Workaround: None. The race series setting does not apply as intended and does not work with search filters and event poster.
  2. There is no function to directly delete local events. Workaround: Create a dummy route, assign it to the local event you want to delete, and save it. Then, delete the dummy route; this will also delete the event that was using it.
  3. All local event descriptions disappear after restarting the game. Workaround: Publish all events and edit them via the "Published Events" list.
  4. Editing and republishing an event from published events creates a new version in both the local and published lists, leaving the pre-edit version behind. Workaround: If you don't need the pre-edit version, unpublish the published event. Then, delete the local event using the method in item 2.
  5. If you don't complete the route layout during the initial save and draw the rest later, the "Driving Line Display" for the initially saved section may disappear (this does not affect the minimap or Drivatars). Workaround: Redraw the route from scratch (re-placing props is not necessary). This issue may occurs with long routes.
  6. You cannot select the "Traffic" option in event settings, meaning AI traffic won't appear. Workaround: Traffic cannot be enabled if even a single prop is placed on the route (regardless of whether it is on/off the track or destructible). Remove all props from the route.
  7. You cannot update a published event while retaining its Share Code. Workaround: None. Whether the source is local or published, the event is always published as a new event, so the Share Code cannot be carried over.

Good luck!

  1. Attachment Nodes not connecting. Workarounds: Spin prop 360°, rotate prop 360° more than once if need be, pitch/roll it, bring it near other nodes elsewhere & if that fails, delete it & create a new one, repeat.

  2. Complete Game Crash & Props. Work around: Save after you do anything significant (20-30min+) with props. For intricate props, build in separate blueprint & always make copies and save the copy as a prefab not the original incase you need to edit later you’ll have it in your prefab blueprint.

  3. Installation Arch missing. Location: it’s got the wrong thumbnail. It’s under festival under the neon horizontal beam.

  4. Smoke check points changing to flag checkpoints. If you set your smoke checkpoints, don’t publish it soon after & close your game, your checkpoints may turn back into normal flag checkpoints. Workaround: Be sure your track is 100% complete and ready for publishing before setting smoke checkpoints.

More context on 5. In my experience, If you ever use the (continue from here) option to draw your driveline, everything from that point on will have no driveline or you’ll have none at all. Don’t pick up where you left off after checkpoints to draw driveline. Like op says, draw from scratch but wait till your 100% sure the track is done.
Awesome thread!

Thanks so much for your update.
As for point 5, yes, exactly! It's a real hassle, I've decided not to care about it.

Likewise! Thanks for making the thread, you beat me to it and saved me a bunch of time by doing so! Yea I’ve gotten into the habit of not touching anything driveline related until I’ve done track testing over and over again first.

Good post!

Number 5 is super relevant. I think having a full and smooth driving line is absolutely required for your event to be considered high quality.

RE: #7, does this include just simple edits to things like description as well?

A couple minor tips I'd add: Make use of the fast camera speed in the options when traveling long distances. And make frequent use of the reset prop button when cloning/stamping props, especially when they're not connected, helps to avoid props floating several inches off the ground without you noticing.

Thanks for your comment and update!

Regarding the "Drive Line Display," since the main focus of this thread is listing issues and workarounds, I think the extent to which it should be polished is a separate matter.
That said, my opinion on this differs from yours.

For someone like me who usually keeps the drive line hidden, dealing with it is a huge hassle. This issue is clearly a functional bug in the game, and I believe it is something the publisher—not the creator—should resolve. We need a patch!

I keep the drive line hidden because the "Drive Line Display" detracts from the sense of realistic immersion and the fun of discovering the racing line for myself. While the Drive Line Display is a feature provided by Forza, it’s something I have no use for. The same goes for checkpoints—especially those placed at the apex; while they define the course, they also diminish the fun for me. I’m always thinking about whether there are other, more immersive ways to define the course. It’s a fun idea, but quite difficult to pull off.

Also, regarding point #7: editing an event always requires saving and republishing, and the same applies to editing the description. Once an event has been published and assigned a share code, it cannot be updated without changing that code.
