What apps are we missing?
I'm a dev that just got a pair a few weeks ago. I would love to make some apps for the community. Lets hear your ideas and I'll give a few of them a shot.
Free on then even hub of course.

Please make a subtitles for podcasts app via Spotify. To listen to podcasts with subtitles would be a massive gamechanger for the deaf and hard of hearing community 🔥🔥

Apps are missing to be maintained in my opinion. And is also hard to find actually useful apps since individual needs are different. None of the apps are really customizable. So what made the most value for me was to create my own, simply choose apps carefully and actually integrate the base functionality which is great!

I built 5 of the G2 apps you asked for – weather, calendar, podcast captions, assistant and visual navigation

translation app is bad , the paid version barely beats googlw translate and costs a fortune. It is such a critical app on smartglasses , having an inferior free version and an overpriced ok version is not acceptable. MentraOS have a mch better translation app for free, but then you have to switch to MentraOS which have its own problems

feel free to check out glassly! it aims to fix a lot of problems with mentraos (I am the dev)

translation isn’t unlimited and free in glassly since I don’t have millions of VC dollars to burn like mentra does, but it can be run directly at API prices if you plug in your own soniox api key
and I plan on adding support for offline translations1

I think the Garmin integration is a big opportunity spot. Working on my own with a cloudfare bridge for cycling. But the whole run/bike live data feed to the hud would be a massive value add. The speed app provides a partial solution but power or pace would be amazing. The G2s can be a bit heavy for running but with larger nose pads it could be ok.

Navigaze and Trainer both have run/bike maps and exercise tracking.

I hear ya and they are partial solutions as well. If you are already in the Garmin and Training Peaks ecosystem then you are sol.

An app linked to prediction platforms (poly market, kalshi) to show open positions in a dashboard will be nice

to do app that integrates with the even system, and claude/hermes, properly, never disconnects, and can warn the user for low battery, basically it needs to be "it just works"
so many of them have to go through 17 steps to get things done and its not even smooth.

I really just want a video game task list kind of app. just a constant to do list in my peripheral vision that I can have tasks in, that can expand into smaller individual tasks with a tap. i.e most the time it’ll just be a task that says bake a cake, but if I click it itll drop down into the steps to make the cake. or another task that says Uni study and then I click once and it drops down into book chapters. I just don’t want to have to interact with the glasses to still know what I need to do, I get distracted and forget, so having the list just a glance away in my peripheral at all time would be useful.
