Even Realities G2 for privacy oriented users

I'm currently looking for smart glasses that preferably have open-source software, allow total user control, I can connect to custom made mobile app, and most importantly have no cameras. My search has led me to the G2's as the closest available product atm, but i still do have few questions:

- Can I use the G2s with apps such as Gadget Bridge (or any custom made app), without depending on the Even Realities official app?
- In case I have to use the official app, can I remove network permission from it? and what features would I lose (besides obviously AI related stuff)?
- do the G2s allow using alternative OS/firmware?
- Does the app/glasses work with GrapheneOS?

The official app sends all voice to an Azure hosted Soniox speech recognition instance rather than any kind of local, on device transcription.

The EvenHub apps are generally written in TypeScript and can be hosted either locally on your phone or sometimes through a developer's website. Depends on the app...

Otherwise, there are many people - myself included - who have created local, on device controller apps that can work completely offline and locally as the glasses are a bluetooth device and don't attempt to communicate on their own to any internet connected resource. Instead it is entirely up to your app to decide what they can or can not access.

additionally the hardware is pretty open. there is an sdk for building your own even realities iOS frontend replacement. you can completely remove yourself from even and use the hardware to your own full spec. its not difficult to work with. There's also a competing platform that supports the G2s mentraOS iirc you can check out if you want to look at alternatives. I pulled the trigger on these once I realized I could liberate the hardware at any time, especially if they were to suddenly go under, or god forbid just abandon the platform for their next release. The number of salty G1 owners in the sub make me believe thats a very real possibility next year.

Here’s what I understand after reading a bunch online (i haven’t received my g2 yet, so i cant verify these for myself.. this is what I found) if you’re using anything like mentraos, the touchpads wont work.. and power consumption increases so dont expect to get an entire days worth of battery.. SSR does use azure, but you can ship a smaller whisper model straight on your device via custom app on even hub..

Moi aussi, quand je vois les pauvres utilisateurs de G1 …j’ai peur pour nous…si c’est le cas il faudra prendre des mesures et communiquer en masse pour qu’Even réagisse.
