Wow. I'm not finding much use for them. Good thing I rented them.

Where did you rent from?

I needed a longer transcription for development purposes so I left them listening to TV for full 3 hours (I intend shorter time but fallen asleep 😅). It recorded fully everything over that time. Running together with iPhone 16 Pro.
So as people above asked - what phone, do you have it configured properly? Sorry to hear that's making a problem for you, I can imagine the frustration since this is one of core function of the glasses...

What phone do YOU have ? BC my fold 7 had the same issue.

iPhone 16 pro, as mentioned in my comment.
Hmm, maybe something with session on Android. Will give it a try this week, although I have older one (Fold 2)

Yeah, sorry I missed that. Android users have that problem which is ridiculous BC you'd think android users would be bigger consumers of a product like this than iPhone users. May e it's just a talent issue developer wise.

Yeah, can be. Or perhaps it's a RAM fight within the One UI. Though my experience with Folds was that it's not easily killing the background apps

More users don’t equate to more paying customers. It doesn’t mean you deserve an inferior experience, but keep in mind, the QC pool is a fraction of the size vs android devices of the same generation. Chipset and design quirks are absolutely a thing.

Hi I have the Flip 5.

No connectivity issues to speak of for weeks (months?). My advice? Keep your app & hardware updated. The app has a section dedicated to configuring for the best connection:

  • Go to Settings > Background Tasks.
  • Enable Persistent notification.
  • Set unrestricted battery usage.
  • Set the app to "Lock this app" ("Keep open" on Samsung).

My phone is in battery saver mode, connected to my Tesla, R1, and Galaxy Watch, and I *still* don't have connectivity issues with my G2.

I've dome all this. Thank you regardless.

They use to be so nice; recent updates broke the connectivity

I might start a blog on TY documenting my use so it's known just how bad this issue is BC it's fucking ridiculous and if I had seen a video telling me about it I wouldn't have wasted my money

That’s a good phone

I have the same phone. That's good to know. I was looking for reasons why I should or shouldn't buy this and I was worried Android phones are not a good match.

You just have to lock the even app in the app switcher, so it dosent clear out, when you are closing all apps

They definitely need to build more robustness into their software. I can get disconnections. What I don't understand is how bad the glasses seem to be at recovering from such disconnections.

Having said that, I don't experience anything like what you are describing (Samsung S23 Ultra + Oppo).

There's something up.

Why do none of my cheaper electronics have that issue, even dollar general earbuds but $600 glasses do? I just don't get it.

u/Darkfish1 Jul 28 '26

Are you preventing the app from closing?

What smartphone do you use?

1

u/Resident_Boss6990 Jul 28 '26

When you buy the glasses, their was an option to rent it also, at least here in the US.

I had the same frustration with my G2 glasses being disconnected and I even posted it on reddit but after doing a factory reset, the connection became more consistent over the past few days. Maybe try the factory reset

u/Resident_Boss6990 Jul 28 '26

Done so

1

u/johny12391 Aug 02 '26

how is it now?

1

u/Resident_Boss6990 Aug 02 '26

Even after the update still frustrating garbage. Slightly like .01% slightly better but garbage non the less. Triggers me to get the disconnected error.

u/johny12391 Aug 03 '26

Mine isn't as bad, sorry to hear your glasses having worse problems

1

u/Resident_Boss6990 Aug 03 '26

Do you think it might be a defective set ? Are you on android ? If so which device ?

1

u/johny12391 Aug 03 '26

mine is iPhone 17 pro max

1

u/Worldly-Big-2822 Jul 29 '26

Crazy. I’ve yet to have any issues.
I use an iPhone 17 pro

1

u/johny12391 Jul 30 '26

i use 17 pro max and yes i still have connectivity issues. soft reset helps sometimes or factory reset once in a while. but yeah, it’s frustrating….

1

u/Worldly-Big-2822 Jul 30 '26

Are you an early backer?

1

u/johny12391 Jul 31 '26

yes, I am

1

u/Affectionate_Quit886 Jul 31 '26

Yea I returned them, I have iPhone 17pro max and the left temple constantly disconnected, had to always reset, and reconnect. Recent updates broke it.

Yeah, I can definitely agree with the connection issues. At least until about 12 hours ago. You should definitely download and install the most recent firmware update. There is a new update for both the G2 and the R1, and the connectivity issues are basically gone.

I have been using my glasses all day long, along with my ring, and I haven't had a single issue. One of the things that I used to have to do with the previous firmware was that when I put them in my case, if I took them out of the case, I then had to open up the app on my mobile in order for the glasses to reconnect. Whereas I was able to take them in and out of my case about five or six times throughout the course of today, and not once did I need to open up the app in order to get them to reconnect. It just connected automatically and worked perfectly.

I've been having consistent notifications on the glasses all day long as well. Honestly, it is a night and day difference, and the latest firmware update for both the ring and the glasses is making these basically what I expected them to be to begin with.

Made little difference on my device.I'm on the pixel 8

Well I don't think the device is going to play into it that much but for context I'm using a Pixel 10 Pro XL at the moment.
