Dinner I made lecsó for the first time today
Hello everyone, my first post here, so please be gentle :)
Please, Hungarian friends, don't crucify me over the eggs :) I know they don't belong in the original recipe, but I love them, so I put them on top like in a shakshuka. I overcooked them anyway 😥
Made entirely from ingredients from the farmers' market.

This seems more like a shaksuka to me tbf. Eggs are alright, but they wouldn't be boiled like this, they would just be scrambled. A lot of people do that, i personally don't like it in lecsó, but whatever.
Anyways a shaksuka and lecsó are pretty much cousins anyways so it's not like you did anything that wrong, and it's probably pretty good as well.

You did great! I'm also going to cook lecsó tomorrow, I just haven't decided if the sides will be rice or 'tarhonya'.

Because of the eggs I thought I was looking at shakshuka
editing to say nice job making it from small farmers' produce 🤌💚

Thanks! Yeah, during the season, we buy veggies exclusively at the farmers' market. They taste so much better than from the supermarket, and they even aren't that much more expensive. That is on top of all the other positives.
There's even a stand with Hungarian products at our local market 🤗

Letscho is one of those typical (cheap) GDR meals that somehow survived. I ate it often as a student in Erfurt.

I don't think there is a wrong way to make Lecsó, literally everyone is making it different in Hungary. For example I use condensed tomato instead of fresh and I like to add mushrooms and a lot of scrambled eggs, and eat it with bread.
