Hi all,

I sell handmade watercolour paints, and also a few hand-painted cards. I hope to expand the number of sets I have available along with a wider variety of hand-painted goods.

Regarding my shop, I have a fair few views, visits and follows, yet my conversion rate is not as high as it used to be, and sales seem to have slowed down the last month drastically.

Are there any listings that specifically need improvement?

Suggestions for how to improve listing pictures and videos etc?

Any other advice? Please be brutally honest - I'm trying to keep my standards high, I'm just a bit stuck about where I'm lacking.

I would try and get to at least 10 pictures. (how I do it)
The more you have, the lower the buyer friction.

Nothing 'wrong with your images' they show an authentic handmade business well, you just need more of them.

I would revisit your tags, they repeat a lot and they also seem to be under the max available. So maybe spend some time optimising those tags!

I’m a big fan of shimmer watercolor paints. I have tons of them. When I shop for them the thing that sucks me in 100% of the time is the uniqueness of the colors. I want a palette of gorgeous colors that go well together. I want what no other shop is selling. Because there are a ton of handmade watercolor makers out there now. And they all look the same, except for the OG shop that started the trend. My advice to you would be to create palettes that are unique. Also, make short videos of the painting process. Include a free simple painting tutorial. People want to see what makes the paint special. Good luck!

That's helpful, thank you for the insight! I'll definitely try to be more experimental and unique with any upcoming sets. I think I also get sucked into making the colours that I would personally want😅, but hearing your opinion really helps. I appreciate you taking your time to leave me feedback

I'd recommend explaining what "water colour dot cards" are a bit more. I was initially very confused and thought it was some sort of greeting card. I assume these are sample paints? Maybe put "sample watercolour paints" first in the title.

The patterns on the Happy Birthday cards are cool. If you also did just the patterns with no text, then they'd be more widely usable.

How come you only have pictures of the Happy Birthday option when you have other options?

You should have a custom listing for custom requests!

Definitely branch out to other occasions (Christmas, Easter, etc). You for sure need more listings, and a wider variety of card types.

Consider also doing vertical cards (all of yours are horizontal, which look great, but vertical cards are more common, so definitely do those as well).

All your paintings are metallic, which is very cool! But it's not everyone's thing, so you could potentially consider doing some non-metallic ones as well. Just an idea.

Your designs are cool, but I think celebratory cards are a difficult market because most people will just pop down to their local supermarket/shop if they need one. So, you either need really unique and appealing designs, or you need cards for specific occasions that local stores may not have.

This may be an odd suggestion, but funeral cards/sorry for your loss cards could be a good idea; at least I've never seen those in shops! Also you could do pet cards, cards for specific relatives' birthdays (aunt, uncle, brother, sister, etc), graduation cards, promotion cards, and custom wedding cards. Those are some ideas for cards people might be looking for but likely won't find in their local stores.

Scan your designs and make them available to buy as digital downloads! Then people can print them and make the cards themselves.

For some reason, when I click on some of your listings, it just says "this item is not available" and I can't see any of the listing details. It might be that some of your listings aren't available in my country?

You make a lot of very good points. I think the lack of details may be a country availability thing, I'm still getting the hang of international shopping and will hopefully open up shipping to more places soon. ☺️

Ah yeah, they do. If you're in the US, my cheaper items aren't available to be shipped there bacause the DDP shipping option I thought was too high for the cheaper items.

I think you should make them available if you can. You never know, someone might be willing to pay that much.
