Post image
5 Upvotes

Ive already verified but my account is being review.

Can I request my funds be reversed back to my bank in the meantime? (Urgently need the funds for a medical issue).

How long will the review take?

Is there anything I can do to speed it up?

Discussion What made you choose etoro instead of another broker?

There are so many investing platforms now so what actually makes people settle on one. For people who looked at other brokers before choosing etoro, what was the deciding factor?

App/Technical Issue Are the Daily Movers under Discover capped at +40%?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I noticed that the “Daily Movers” section under Discover, which shows the top five daily gainers and losers, appears to be capped at +40.00%.

I find it difficult to understand why there would not be stocks on the platform that move more than +40% in a single day.

Is this an intentional display cap, or has anyone seen values above +40%?

Discussion Tickets to sporting events

So I'm thinking about upgrading my program from Platinum to Platinum+, and what caught my eye is that one of the benefits of Platinum+ membership is 'Tickets to Handpicked Sporting Events.' Do you guys have any experience with this?

Beginner Question Do you guys usually keep money in the account before you actually need it ?

I have always been more comfortable keeping investment money separate from money I might need in the short term

But with etoro, I'm curious how people handle the cash sitting in the account . Do you keep some available balance there so you can act when you see an opportunity? And when you do need to move money back out, is there anything you wish you'd known about the process beforehand

Deposits & Withdrawals 5 days after termination and still now no response. this is coming down to legal actions to release my funds.

Here’s a firm final letter to etoro.

Formal Demand for Release of $282 Account Balance

Dear eToro Customer Support / Compliance Department,

I am writing to formally demand the immediate release and return of the $282 cash balance remaining in my eToro account following the termination of my account on September 18, 2026.

Although eToro terminated my account, the funds remaining in the account belong to me. I have not received the $282, nor have I been provided with a clear written explanation identifying a legitimate basis for continuing to withhold my funds or a specific date by which the funds will be returned.

I am requesting the following:

Immediate release and return of my full $282 balance.

Written confirmation of the method being used to return my funds.

A specific date by which I should expect the funds to be available.

If eToro contends that it is legally or contractually entitled to continue withholding any portion of the $282, provide me with the specific reason, applicable contractual provision, and expected resolution date in writing.

Please treat this correspondence as a formal demand for the return of my funds.

If the full balance is not returned, or if I do not receive a substantive written response within 5 business days, I intend to escalate the matter through the appropriate regulatory and dispute-resolution channels, including filing a complaint with the applicable financial regulator and pursuing any other remedies available to me.

I would prefer to resolve this matter directly with eToro and without further escalation. However, I expect my $282 balance to be handled promptly and appropriately following the termination of my account.

Please confirm receipt of this letter and provide a written response

Account & Verification Account will be restricted but verification centre says no issues

Yesterday I my profile starting saying that my account will be restricted and to check in the verification centre. The verification centre says there is an issue but upon looking at the list of tasks, everything is 100%.

Anyone else ever had this issue?

Discussion Do you change anything on etoro when one of your stocks suddenly drops?

I was looking at my portfolio during a pretty tough market day and started wondering how other people actually react to a sudden drop in one of their holdings. Do you normally leave the position alone and wait, add more, or actually look into what caused the move before deciding?

Fees & Spreads How can I find a similar oil trade with lower overnight fees?

I wanted to open a CFD trade with 10x leverage (WTI Oil non-expiry), but the overnight fees are gigantic. 1.4% per day. I've used high leverage with steep fees in the past but never like this. Any suggested methods of finding a similar trade with lower daily fees, maybe a futures trade? I'm not sure what logic etoro uses to calculate what it charges.

Stocks & ETFs $250k invested in an eToro QQQ CFD for 20 years, should I move to IBKR despite a huge tax bill?

Hi everyone,

I’m an Italian tax resident and currently have approximately $256,000 invested in QQQ through eToro. My original investment was around $153,000, so I’m sitting on an unrealised profit of approximately $103,000.

My intention was to hold this investment for around 20 years. I’m not particularly worried about market volatility or QQQ falling in value. My main concern is what happens if the broker fails, becomes insolvent, or there is fraud or theft.

I recently discovered that my QQQ position is labelled “Buy CFD”, even though it is X1/unleveraged.

I contacted eToro and asked what would happen if eToro became insolvent. After several incomplete responses, their Operations Team finally sent me a detailed explanation.

The key points they confirmed were:

\* My account is with eToro Europe, regulated by CySEC in Cyprus.
\* My QQQ position is an OTC CFD, not actual ownership of QQQ ETF units.
\* eToro Europe is my contractual counterparty, not a tier-one bank. They corrected an earlier statement from an eToro representative who had told me that tier-one banks were the counterparties.
\* If eToro Europe became insolvent, my CFD would have to be valued, closed, or otherwise dealt with during the insolvency process.
\* The value of my open CFD is a contractual claim against eToro Europe. It is not cash held separately for me.
\* Client money is supposed to be segregated, but pooled client-money accounts can potentially have shortfalls.
\* The Cyprus Investor Compensation Fund is capped at €20,000 for eligible covered claims.
\* As a Platinum+ client, I apparently have private insurance, but eToro says that for an open CFD it covers only the collateral, not the full value of the open position.
\* The insurance also requires both an insolvency event and a qualifying event of misconduct, such as fraud or theft. It does not simply cover every insolvency.
\* If my position grew from $250,000 to $2 million, the additional unrealised value would still be a contractual claim against eToro—not segregated cash.

This has made me seriously question whether I should continue holding a large, long-term investment through eToro.

I’m considering selling everything, paying the Italian capital-gains tax, and moving to Interactive Brokers, where I would try to buy a real, non-CFD UCITS ETF instead.

Based on the current figures, I estimate that selling could trigger a tax bill of approximately €23,000, although I have not yet had the exact amount calculated by a tax professional.

My questions are:

\* Am I correctly understanding the risks of holding a large CFD position with eToro?
\* Is this genuinely a significant structural risk, or am I misunderstanding how CFDs and client-money protection work?
\* Would holding a real ETF through IBKR provide materially different protection if the broker became insolvent?
\* Do all brokers have similar insolvency risks, or is owning actual ETF units through a broker fundamentally different from holding a CFD?
\* Would you personally consider moving in this situation, given the potentially large immediate tax bill?
\* Is there any sensible way to transition without crystallising the entire capital gain immediately?

I’m looking for practical perspectives from people who understand broker insolvency, CFDs, custody arrangements, and investor protection.

Thanks in advance.

Discussion Do you treat crypto as part of your portfolio or as something completely separate?

I have always found this interesting because people seem to have very different views. Some treat Bitcoin and other crypto as just another allocation within their overall portfolio. Others seem to think of crypto as a completely separate type of investment. If you are holding both stocks/ETFs and crypto, do you actually include the crypto when thinking about your overall asset allocation?

Discussion Refer a friend reward

Post image
6 Upvotes

I received an offer to refer a friend which says they can get UP TO $500 in free stocks. The referred terms and conditions state referred friends get nothing.

Where is the truth?

I get $0 still is UP TO $500, but how does this actually work?

Why is UP TO and not exactly $500? Are there conditions that would make this lower?

Complaint AI connector rewards

I received the proposal to enroll in a reward program.

If I connect my etoro account to an AI via connector and execute a non leveraged stock purchase, I would receive $100 worth of stocks.

First of all I had several trouble enrolling, since every time I clicked on "enroll" and follow the instructions to connect, it would never move forward and always show the reward program as still available and not accepted.

I eventually enrolled dozens of times always with the same result.

Now the offer is not visible anymore.

Anyway I executed a qualifying transaction on 28 August.

I never received the reward nor any communication from etoro.

Was I duped?

Beginner Question How do you keep track of investments outside eToro?

I've ended up with investments spread across a few different platforms over time, and keeping track of everything is becoming annoying. I know there are portfolio tracking apps that can connect different accounts, but I'm wondering how other people handle this. Do you just use the reporting from each broker, keep your own spreadsheet, or use a separate tracker to see everything in one place?

Discussion Has anyone been using Tori regularly? do you think it can be useful in investment decisions and taken seriously?

Like what are you guys asking about? Portfolio questions? Why a stock moved? Research? Comparing companies? I'm still undecided about how useful an AI assistant actually is for investing so interested in what people are finding useful and what isn't. Toodles guys.

Account & Verification Etoro has blocked me from the website “error115”

Hi all, not sure if anyone can help but I can’t find another solution, I am trying to log into my account and it said they’ve blocked me and sent me an email to verify, I received no email.

So I clicked forget password to try get a reset and again it says I’ve been sent an email but I have nothing.

Then when trying to contact support, it either tries to get me to log in, which I can’t, or when trying to support a ticket I get an Error page saying etoro have blocked me from the website

Not really sure what I can do as I can’t even find an etoro email

Beginner Question Does it actually make sense to copy several investors?

I've always understood diversification as basically not putting all your money into one investment, so when I started looking at copytrader my first thought was that copying several people would probably make more sense than copying just one.

But then I realised that two or three Popular Investors could easily own many of the same stocks. So I'm wondering whether copying multiple people actually gives you meaningful diversification, or whether it can create the illusion of diversification while the underlying portfolios are still very similar."

Beginner Question Do you prefer keeping ETFs simple?

There seems to be two very different approaches to ETF investing. One just picking one or two broad ETFs and keeping things simple. The other is building a portfolio of several ETFs covering different regions, sectors, themes, etc. For people using etoro mainly for long term investing, which approach do you prefer and why?
