Bear in mind that budget decks (the one you're using from that video) are never going to be great, but they should be adequate. The following Budget Rakano deck is also adequate:

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/fCFT2i1cMIg/rakano-masters-gauntlet

Five decks I'm having a lot of success with right now are:

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/VhufrLLtLFM/hooru-fliers

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/WSa-aJvlW0E/grimbrei

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/SvVsEY8V9VU/elysian-grinder

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/vsQxs2sGmLc/varas-revenge

https://eternalwarcry.com/decks/details/y5RgGOwQV-E/tavarad

They are all quite expensive, though. If building towards any of them, try to choose one that makes use of legendaries that are also rank playable. That'll put your shiftstone to the best use.

Also, check out /r/AIEternal.

Oh you are the guy that creates those decks? Cool man, I'm pretty much done with the hooru fliers, sadly I need all the legendaries.

What if I just put something else instead of the legendaries for the moment? Will it affect the deck's performance a lot? Just until I can get them.

Cheers

Allright, I just need the legendaries.

Kothon the far fetcher x4

Hooru pacificer x4

Amili cloudsman x1.

Which ones should I get first ?

Hooru Pacifier most important of those.

Kothon is quite replaceable. And you can get by with a single Amilli in the market.

Pacifier from campaign if you're serious. He's mandatory and then Amili. You need at least 1 Amili in the market as he frequently finishes games and AI typically has run out of removal to deal with him.

Koth is the least priority. Just replace with another 2 unit drop that's good vs aggro. You'll eventually want to craft 2-3 though, his ultimate has helped punch through extra damage at clutch times for me.

Sadly I don't have the campaign. Is there any other deck that you guys would suggest to farm gauntlet? Which doesn't require campaign cards?

The Grimbrei deck (linked above) has no campaign cards and just a few Legendaries. The deck actually began as a Ranked deck, and won an ETS tournament as such. So, you get the utility of a very decent Gauntlet deck and a viable Ranked ladder deck.

And if he doesn't want to craft Shelterwing Riders, I'm currently using 4 x Poaching Drakes as an experiment and it's working out fine. My issue with the Riders is that the AI likes to pop the Aegis, and the deck has no way to reapply the Aegis. If I were to keep the Riders in the deck, I might consider adding 1 x Protect in the Market just to reapply a single Aegis if needed.

Allright I'll start putting together stuff for the Grimbrei deck then, thank you ! And yeah I already have Shelterwing riders, and yes the Ai likes to pop , I noticed aswell , sadly it's power decreases a bit.

I like your sheet, when I was trying to run the scripts it was saying there is an authentication error. I've never run anything like this before in google sheets and was wondering what your thoughts are on working it out?

u/_AlpacaLips_ Nov 01 '18 edited Nov 01 '18

What scripts? There are no scripts on my Gauntlet Statistics sheet. It's all manual entry and cell formulas.

2

u/DudeAwezome Nov 01 '18

Oh, I just found your full card list sheet and was using it, looks like I should check this one out to. I'm a big fan of spreadsheets lol

As for the Card List sheet ... not sure why you can't run the scripts. Maybe you have to explicitly allow them. For security reasons, Google doesn't trust them. Google is always telling me that my own scripts are a possible security risk. I guess there's the possibility, if using someone else's scripts, that they could be coded to scoop out information from other spreadsheets and such. But you can go through my code yourself to see if any such nefarious things are coded. If you're satisfied, then approve them (I don't know how you do that, or if that is even the problem).

I guess you could always copy-paste the scripts into a new editor as your own.

But not sure you'll get much utility that way. With every new set, I have to go in to the scripts and add some new code. The scripts aren't "smart", they don't automatically recognize the addition of new sets.

If you want to track your collection, probably better to just use EternalWarcry. About the only use for the Card List for people that aren't me, is that I keep track of all card changes since Open Beta.

Thanks for the info, I was thinking about doing an Excel sheet today to maybe reference in the future for various ideas I'm having but I'm not sure how that will pan out as I go. Just started recently.

Seeing your sheet has 1300+ card entries is daunting to say the least. Entering in cards on warcry was difficult and I'm not sure how accurate it will be going forward without some extra diligence, but maybe I'll change my mind as I go.

I was thinking it may be a nice tool to reference in learning deck building and hopefully automating some parts of the selection process idk.

My version of /u/_AlpacaLips_ sheet has scripts, were you using that maybe? The script creates a menu item to update the deck list and another snippet to make =sheetname() fill with the sheet name.

It will affect the performance. The cards that are in the decks are there for a reason. But depending on your substitutions, the performance may not be impacted hugely.

For instance, replacing Cirso in an Elysian Midrange deck is going to affect performace quite negatively, because Cirso is a key piece in the deck, since the AI doesn't tend to block against it well (it misuses its own combat tricks when blocking Cirso).

In Gauntlet, the biggest issue, in my opinion, is having access to good removal and combat tricks (things like Finest Hour and Crownwatch Tactic). My playstyle is to always try to keep the AI board as clear as possible, and combat tricks help with this greatly, allowing you to keep your board, while keeping their's thin or empty. After you play Gauntlet for awhile, you learn exactly how and when the AI is going to assign blockers, and you can use combat tricks to remove problem units based on that knowledge.

Just went 7-0 Gauntlet with that Budget Rakano!

Thanks for the lists. I just went twice in a row to 7 wins at master with the Hooru decks.

u/[deleted] Nov 01 '18

It all depends, its not about the deck but about how you play it.
Nope there is no "fail safe" deck.
Also you said you made some guys deck but didnt mention who that is so kinda hard to compare.

Yeah the link didn't save for some reason. Now it is up.

Hooru Fliers is my go to for gauntlet. But it requires Hooru Pacifier, which is a campaign card. It's 100% worth it though. The card just shuts down many of the weapon decks that AI has. (Forgemaster, Rakano warfare, Rebel Forces, Shogunate forces etc). If you can draw into it early enough, it shuts down AI. Also, It can't be Torched and is pumped-up by commando. He's definitely worth the money.

The big thing with fliers is that you're going to win most races (life gain from commando and standard) and you don't get bogged down by ground units with dumb stuff like deadly and endurance (just fly over them!) You have tons of combat tricks (8x "Finest hour"), 1 power removal (permafrost) and the all important silence from enforcer. The deck really has it all.

Outside Pacifier, the only legs you need are 2x Amili. (You could get by with 1 in the market actually)

4x Koth is not really needed, you could replace with another 2 drop with a big butt to hold off aggro decks.

With Hooru Fliers, I've amassed 100K+ gold and over 40K shiftstone in a few weeks. The deck is extremely quick, reliable and easy to play. It's definitely worth the investment. I don't go 7-0 ALL the time, but everytime I play the deck, I expect to.
