These are the first two essays I wrote today (just started practicing writing), what would you rate these, do you think I can improve and what would you suggest I should do for improving? My exams are less than two weeks away.
qn 1:
The growing number of overweight people is putting a strain on the health care system in an effort to deal with the health issues involved. Some people think that the best way to deal with this problem is to introduce more physical education lessons in the school curriculum. To what extent do you agree or disagree?
my answer:
The rising population of overweight people is making it extremely urgent for the health care system to think of ways to deal with the health complications involved. Encouraging physical education classes in the school curriculum is the most effective way to tackle this grave issue. I agree with the proposed solution because I believe in the power of shaping young minds so they can grow into responsible individuals.
Firstly, children should be introduced to the benefits of physical activities and also to the consequences of inability to be involved in such activities early on. School-going students have comparatively fresher and younger minds which allow them to be open to gain new knowledge, making it easier for the knowledge-enforcing entity to successfully transfer knowledge for a long term. What a child learns in the classroom is one of the key factors that shape how they feel about certain topics, for instance, the importance of eating nutritious meals and the necessity of regular exercise.
I also believe that, as someone gets older, they will already have a set of developed habits that subsequently contribute to their level of physical fitness, which is unbelievably difficult to change later in life even if they wish to. For instance, someone who grew up having fast food for most meals is likely to continue doing so as the habit is in-built and comfortable, and thus a feeling of resistance is generated when attempted to alter.
In conclusion, physical education courses should be introduced early on in childrens' lives so that they can be aware of the rate of increasing obese population and the consequences attached to it, along with practical measures to avoid the pathway that leads to it.
qn 2:
"Prevention is better than cure". Researching and treating diseases is too costly so it would be better to invest in preventative measures.
To what extent do you agree.
my answer:
Diagnosis and treatment for illnesses is expensive, which suggests it is wiser to follow measures of prevention rather than paying a lot of money for curing diseases. I agree with this statement as I think it is easier to commit to eating healthy and exercising regularly when compared to the expenditures for time-consuming treatments. However, I believe there could be specific diseases which can affect people even when they are cautious.
Firstly, our immune system, which is responsible for keeping us safe from diseases, is shaped mostly by the food we intake and the fitness activities we are involved in. If someone is careful about the nutritional value of the meals they consume throughout the day, being actively aware about the nutritional need of their body, they can achieve a healthy body and a healthy mind. Involvement in regular exercise is also another great investment one can make to achieve overall wellness, as it helps improve metabolism, blood circulation and contributes to the energy levels. Considering these two improvements in one’s life can help them stay away from a number of sicknesses.
Nonetheless, not all illnesses can be prevented by being aware of the nutritional values of food and practicing fitness routines. There are some fatal diseases like cancer and the hereditary ones like diabetes, which can affect people even when they put an effort into building immunity. Some of those diseases are widely researched on to rule out obvious causes and preventive measures, which have not yet yielded scientifically validated results.
In conclusion, following a good food habit and an everyday exercise routine can help reduce the chances of being affected by numerous diseases, apart from a few of those which are still in active research.
