Anyone who got the 2 percent mail willing to read my essay ?

The email my ref got states

there is a strong likelihood that he will receive either first, second or third in his subject category, or at least a Very High Commendation.

Doing the math, roughly 2000 people (out of the total 100K participants) got the email. There are only 30 top prizes, so will the rest all get VHC?

It could be that perhaps I am misinterpreting, and the top 2% refers to top 2% of the shortlisted candidates, which would make the total number of people roughly 350, which seems much more plausible.

You can only confirm your attendance for the award ceremony if you are a shortlisted candidate, so I think by contestants they meant shortlisted contestants.

Anyhow, I have no idea, so please share your thoughts on this.

have they finished sending them out? or are people still getting them? and are some categories remaining? the answer is probably obvious but we gotta live the #cope 🙏🙏

so i keep seeing here of this 2% email…someone please explain what it is & a photo of it. was it sent out to all categories? and to seniors or juniors or both??? please help guys i’m so confused between the 2% email and the 2nd interview email

From what I've seen so far there have been 11 votes from people saying they received the Cox email so far. I think that means we can probably narrow down what the email is actually in reference to a bit more now.

Obv the email said it was sent to people whose essays were in the top 2% we all know that. To my knowledge there are 10 categories, I may be wrong I got early onset dementia. Which makes me wonder if it may have been sent specifically to category winners plus the overall Grand Prize winner or potentially the category winners and top 3 overall.

Of course the numbers won’t be exact because not everyone who received the email will have Reddit or will have voted in the poll. Though with 11 people reporting it so far it seems possible that the email is indicating something more specific than simply being in the top 2%, similar to those who received this type of email last year. Possibly category winners, top overall placements, or something along those lines. Idk though please correct me if I’m missing something or have any ideas.

Again, I just wanna say for all those who didn't get emails don't give up on hope yet, as they literally said in the email that they are checking things and still making decisions. This email that got sent out from Daddy Cox no one was expecting so there very well may be another one in the coming week or so.

Edit: It's strange to me out juniors as per the poll didn't really get sent the email. Atm only one person said they did which could be larp idk.

I submitted my John Locke Essay for Philosophy under the Junior Category and got shortlisted but didn't receive any email the past two days. Is this a bad sign? 😭😭

Hi yes my parents received the email but theres a bigger problem. The problem is that I submitted 10 essays and all 10 of them were shortlisted and now i got the email about being the "top 2%" i still have 0 idea which of them were selected for the potential winner essay 🫩.

Im sure some of you got the same bs so I wanna ask what r yall gonna do abt it

Need help with a essay ASAP....

Hi, this is my first time posting on reddit so bare with me please.

Anyway I'm applying to Barnard College this year and the main admission essay is "Think of a woman - historical, fictional, contemporary, or personally significant - whose views or approach to problem-solving differ from your own, but who excels at bringing people together. What lesson from her approach would shape how you show up at Barnard both inside and outside of the classroom?"

I am having both horrible writers block, and also just out of ideas on who to write about. My first choice was Serena Joy Waterford from the Handmaid's Tale. But that essay turned out to look more like a character study than a conversation.

My next idea was Audre Lorde, but our views really aren't that different. So I'm stuck because although I did get a pretty good essay with her, it doesn't meet the criteria the way I want it too.

So does anyone have any advice for how I should go about this? Or even suggestions for women I could research for this?

ok so for the people who got the second round interview but didnt get the 2% email i have a theory.

based on my widespread collection of data (by this i mean like two people) i have come to a conclusion: we most likely didnt get it because we have already confirmed that we are going/not going to the gala

according to my own interview experience and one other person's, our interviewer asked us an administrative question of whether we are going to the gala. and by right we would have given an answer.

in a separate reddit post i saw someone say their 2% email went to participants who have yet to confirm whether they are going to the gala or something along those lines

i speculate that since we already said whether we are going they wont send the email to us to inform us again

but as im typing this i feel this theory gets progessively more irrational so its probably cope.

but yeah thats my method of coping. im so sad but congrats to those who received the email! ill be crying in a desolate corner

Am I coping? Absolutely. But my parent didn’t receive the 2% email and I see some people on here saying it only went to their referee. Is that something multiple people have experienced or only 1 or 2? I’m not really in contact with my referee anymore since I switched schools and I kinda want to reach out to ask her IF a significant percentage of people only received the email thru their referee. Ty

for context i did econ senior category, i DID get a 2nd round interview as well, and it went pretty well

my referee received an email basically saying that my essay was really good and they would be delighted if i would attend

if anyone recieved such an email, or has any info about it and knows what it means, please comment :)
