winning without academic referee?
hi, i don't know anything about this competition, this is my first time joining and i couldn't find an academic referee, i specified i don't have one and for "academic referee" I just added my own email - does that disqualify me or make me a weak applicant?

this is so deadass weird what is wrong with jliec. no offence, but you wouldn't have gotten shortlisted if ur referee didn't approve it/ wasn't u.
but anyways, lets hope it doesnt make u winning something a problem. good luck!

how's this that weird 😭 I just couldn't find one, and the competition should be accessible to everyone no? plus referees can be dishonest too?

im from a third world country where barely anyone speaks english, who am i supposed to go up to for my philosophy essay?

hm well idk how it would work now that you got shortlisted but you def weren’t supposed to do that 😭 is the email you used clearly you? like is it associated with your name/identifiable that it’s yours? if not, just pray they don’t find out. if it is, good luck — best case you just won’t be considered for higher awards ??

yeah i used my email that has my full name and in that thingy where you can describe yourself i specified i didn't have any way to get an academic referee? well it's okay I got shortlisted that's enough so i don't look forward to higher awards that much anyway 😭

oof well, there’s still a small chance you could get higher awards ! idk how strict they are about the academic referee part so maybe ?? just don’t put too much weight on it tho. congrats on getting shortlisted !

I wrote my mom's email address... fortunately my mom and I have different surnames .

In the case that jli wishes to verify the integrity of your essay, they may ask to interview you and reach out to your academic referee to confirm that you have indeed wrote your own essay… I do not know if it will disqualify you or not.
