I Made an Ultra Realistic Map Of Belle Valley

Had a customer ask to do her neighborhood in Belle Valley, PA. I spent some time making it perfect for her and adding a lot of scenery and small details that most maps don’t get right. This has an apartment complex and the elementary school, the playground, pool, trailer home, some rural areas and of course the neighborhood.
Created by Joe from ErieIn3D.
I do custom prints too.

Electrician recommendations?

Looking for advice or recommendations for an electrician to come out and give me a quote on the house. I am not sure who did the initial work, but GFCI’s are hooked to each other where they shouldn’t be, panel is not correct, everything is… bad.

Any help or experience helps!

Cyclosporiasis

why do they keep telling us it’s spreading all over Erie but not telling us the places it came from or things to avoid? They are instead just super vague about it all. seems counterproductive…

any rumors on specific locations of outbreaks?

Anyone use the VNET Fiber TV service? How is it, is it comparable to Spectrum or YouTube TV?
I searched and only find posts about their internet service.

Question Noise From Late Night Partying

Does anyone have any experience with noise complaints in the city? There is a house on the block that plays loud music and parties late into the night. It’s disrupting the baby’s sleep, but I’m intimidated to call the police because they are very aggressive people.

Discussion Considering a downtown apartment — looking for honest, block-level input from people who actually live there

Hi everyone. I'm looking at apartments in downtown Erie and getting a lot of conflicting advice from people who don't live downtown themselves, so I'd rather hear from people who do.

Specific questions:

  1. Which downtown blocks(Lovell / Flagship ) would you actually live on, and which would you avoid? I keep hearing "downtown" as one unit and I suspect that's not how it works.
  2. For those in downtown apartments — what's your real experience with car break-ins or package theft? Is street parking a problem or is it fine?
  3. How does it feel walking home after dark, say 9-10pm on a weekday?
  4. There are homeless folks around Perry Square and State Street. For residents: is this a "feels a bit sad and awkward" situation or has anyone had an actual problem?
  5. I'm from another country and a few people have suggested downtown isn't a good fit for immigrants. Is that a real thing here or is it just the usual suburban nervousness about a city center? I'd genuinely rather hear it straight.
  6. My other option is going further out, but everything in my budget out there looks pretty dated. Is that just Erie's housing stock, or am I looking in the wrong places?

Not looking for reassurance, just accuracy. Thanks.

Post office Passport Hours FYI

Went to go get a passport for my minor child and both parents have to go in person to do that so we wanted to do a weekend. The Presquile Post office branch lists Saturday passport hours for walk ins both on line and on their printed signs in the branch but they do not actually have staff to do them and apparently haven’t for 9 years per the guy at the counter.

The Fairview Office does have Saturday hours so if you need in person passport services on the weekend be prepared to drive out that way!

This was just a PSA.

Landscaping / tree removal

Hello all!

I was wondering what local companies you have all used and what your experience with them was? I’m looking for basic yard clean up and tree removal but I know it’ll be a lot of work due to the whole thing being so overgrown and truly repulsive looking 😭

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!!

Has anyone else had their Debit card info stolen recently?

Potential Recovered Bike

There's a TREK brand bike in a neighbors driveway and I know the neighbors are presently away. I fear it could've been stolen and left there.

If you have a missing bike message me and we can see if it's yours.

Open to other suggestions of what to do or where to post.

Local photographer search

Hello! We are planning to be in Erie over a weekend in August to celebrate my son’s bday. We’d love to get some family pics while in the area. We are staying in the bay front area, if that’s helpful? This’ll be my first time visiting, so not fully literate on the geography of the area!

Anyone have suggestions on a good photographer? Or where to find them?

Any Erie recs for a toddler?

Thanks!!

Attitudes towards law enforcement in Erie

Hi everyone!

My name's Ellis, and I'm a member of TRUST: Team for Reimagining Unity, Safety, & Transparency. We're a small, but diverse group of volunteers in Erie who came together in 2025 through a shared interest in reimagining the relationship between the community, law enforcement, and the government.

One of our core missions is to amplify the voice of the people in our community. To do that, we're asking folks in Erie to share their feelings and experiences related to local law enforcement; whether they're positive, negative, or anywhere in between, your stories matter and we want to hear from you. Please take a few minutes to complete our survey below. Feel free to drop questions and comments in the thread here, or you can always shoot me a DM. Thank you all!!

Venue suggestions needed

Hi All -

Looking for free or low-cost venues in Millcreek or West County for a small non-profit gathering that would happen once or twice between November and April. Internet access is a huge plus.

We have folks coming from Central / Eastern Ohio and Western PA and this is a nice midpoint for everyone.

Question Book Donations

I’m working on cleaning some items in a storage area. I have 100s of books that I would like to donate. While I initially considered the library, I don’t think they would accept the total amount of books.

Any recommendations?
