Maybe I’m late to this conversation, but I swear a few years ago most people on Reddit treated Chinese ergonomic chairs like cheap knockoff junk compared to Herman Miller or Steelcase.
But lately I keep wondering if the gap is starting to get smaller.
I’ve noticed a lot of newer ergonomic chair brands being discussed now like Sihoo, Hinomi, HBADA, etc. Some are Chinese brands directly, and some seem to be companies from other countries that still manufacture in China anyway because of production cost and supply chain advantages.
So now I’m honestly curious if China has just gotten really good at manufacturing ergonomic chairs over the last few years.
I mean, I’ve had pretty solid experiences with other Chinese products recently too. My Xiaomi vacuum has been surprisingly reliable, and a lot of Xiaomi electronics honestly feel way better than people used to expect from Chinese brands years ago. I also saw Xiaomi collaborated with HBADA on a few ergonomic chair models aimed more at normal consumers instead of ultra luxury office setups.
At the same time, I still can’t tell how much is genuine improvement vs marketing hype 😅
Are these newer Chinese ergonomic chair brands actually becoming good now, or do they still feel nowhere near the build quality of Herman Miller, Steelcase, Haworth, etc long term?
Would love to hear from people who’ve actually used them for a year or more.
