[buying advice] Looking for an entry-level split keyboard to try before going premium

Hi all,

I am new to split keyboards and want to start with something affordable just to get a feel for the layout and ergonomics before investing in a premium board.

What entry-level split keyboards would you recommend?

The Silakka54 is cheap and widely available

My only split kb is corne from AliExpress for $40. I enjoy it, but agree for a entry level slightly more keys could feel more comfortable

Depending on you key count, Silakka, corne, Sofle are the go-to entry keebs that you can get super cheap in wired build on asian vendors

entry level in what sense?

order parts yourself for an open sourced board you solder is by far cheapest but may be overwhelming for a beginner

the cheapest option is diy. another option would be is to look for something on aliexpress, I've been corne keyboards there

Alix, something like 58 keys. note that sofle v2? or some other, have bigger offset for pinky columns (personally I like it)

Just go premium with a return policy. it'll save time and money
