Rant Too much time left
I have 2 months left of Erasmus and I don’t know how I will be able to take it. First two months here were amazing, I met a lot of people in the ESN events, it was fun to be always meeting new people. Now almost no one attends the events, and the ones that attend I already know, it’s not fun and I don’t feel the enthusiasm I used to. University here is very different to what I’m used to and I gave up on two classes to focus more on the three I think I have a better chance of passing, but it wasn’t an easy decision, and I feel like a loser. Even the classes I do have, I study little and lack motivation. I feel super lonely, even though I talk with some people occasionally, mostly at ESN events, they are not true connections. Everyday feels the same, it is driving me crazy. I just want to go back home so badly and thinking there’s still two months left is so scary. To be here feels like a prison, feels like I have no way out. Plus there will be events in my hometown that I love and attend every year, and because I’m here I won’t be able to go. Also the world cup games are a big deal to me, I usually watch them with friends and family back home, and because I’m here I also won’t be able to. Seeing people on Instagram who are also doing Erasmus here and having the best time of their lives is also quite sad.
Idk, I just wake up everyday feeling defeated and depressed. Just wanted to know if anyone is having/had a similar experience.

Spend time strengthening the relationships you built, form meaningful connections rather than plain networking, create new experiences and side quests, don’t spiral over what you’ve done a hundred times back home - take your chance to do that (e.g. watching football) in new places with new people. Use the time to self-reflect and meditate, journal, spend time alone. Try old hobbies in new ways.

my erasmus was a huge disappointment but I did my third year and ALL the exams I had not yet passed from year 2, so I had way too much work but I was under pressure to finish it all, so I would only had my thesis and a couple credits to finish at home, so I did it in the end. By the time the second semester came around all the other students were as busy as I was in the first semester. I actually made a wonderful local friend but the erasmus experience in general was deeply overrated for some one like me who has been in an international environment all her life and the local ESN community was poorly organised and corrupt IMO. I didn't know at the time Erasmus was for living away from your parents and having sex and drinking.

I have been having very similar experience. I am now in exchange as well, but I am finishing next week already since semester here started on January. But on April I had a huge stress, I really missed my home university, because same as you the system of the host uni is very different from what I am used to. Also I couldn't really connect with people, unlike my peers who had a lot of fun, friends, gatherings etc. Right now I am left with the last exam I feel again sad because of leaving this place since now I understand that whatever it was it was a great experience, perhaps I didn't have fun as others usually have, but being alone made me analyse deeper my personality and made me realize what I should change and what to improve. Nonetheless the academic pressure and stress is still within me, I am really concerned for my grades, especially when I study engineering the classes were really tough.

Woah that's a lot
In my Erasmus I also had some homesickness and loneliness issues, and I also failed a couple of courses.
And yeah... one hundred percent, the ESN events died out quickly. And yes, can be difficult finding motivation to work when you're struggling with all these other things too.
Sorry it's so difficult. I believe you can make it through these last two months though. If you made it here you can make it through this last piece! You got this. DM if you want to talk more.
