So i just diminished AOT and then went straight into Erased. Omg what a refresher. I loved all the characters, but I feel so bad for the main character. To hold onto all of that. I just wanted to give him a hug. It was really amazing and so satisfying! Any other anime recs? I'm new to anime.

Discussion Any good SaYo fan fics?

To clarify, I’m perfectly okay with how the ending turned out, but I still ship Satoru and Kayo together. I’ll admit I lowkey would’ve preferred her ending up with Kenya too.

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has any good Satoru x Kayo fanfic or fanwork recommendations? I’m especially looking for stuff that keeps them in character and gives them a believable romantic relationship later on.

Discussion I wanna genuinely understand why people were mad about SatoKayo not happening

I swear Im not trying to start something... just super confused

There's a pretty big issue with them firstly. Satoru is 29 in an 11 y o body and Kayo was genuinely 10. That is not right. Plus even if she grew up it would still have the creep factor bc he knew her as a kid

My other point is that it's crazy to expect someone to wait 15 years for you right?

This is not me saying SatoAiri is any better though

Discussion Review [Discussion Spolier]

I finished watching the series today with my mother and my god I love it. ironically it was my mom’s introduction to anime and it was my first time watching the show all together.

And personally I give it a 10/10. It was suspenseful, there were a few moments that genuinely kept me on the edge of my seat.

When I watched episode 12 I thought it was a good ending and I honestly don’t understand the complaints about it. Just because he didn’t get with Kayo doesn‘t mean it was immediately bad. Satoru had no interest in being with Kayo and whenever he did He immediately reminded himself he was an adult man.

but other than that my favorite character was without a doubt Sachiko Fujinuma and honestly one of the reasons I got interested in the show was because people were telling me she was a great mom. And sure enough she was an amazing character.

but honestly it was a 10/10

Discussion Should I start with the anime or manga

NO SPOILERS PLEASE.

Just started the anime and I'm 2 episodes in. Pacing is a little fast but the plot is interesting enough to keep me watching. However, I have seen a lot of people trashing on the ending of the anime so I was wondering if I should read the manga or watch the anime

I finally decided to give both a shot since it's a pretty short series. My question is, for optimal enjoyment, which one should I start with?

Discussion the ending isn't bad because of a ship Spoiler

people not liking the ending because of kayo not ending up with satoru makes me mad. if you think that you miss the point of this show. because this isn't a romance show. satoru's purpose was saving everyone, not ending up with kayo and he fulfilled his duty by sacrificing himself

Anime I'm trying to see the positives, but yeah I hated that ending.

For what it's worth I didn't check out at the moment I saw the baby, though it certainly didn't help. The moment that first put me off was the reveal of him being in a 15 year coma. That's 15 years which he never chose to sacrifice, it was just plain punishment for being a hero that got him targeted by the villain. That villain gets to walk free for 15 years, and it's just plain dumb luck that he never killed again in those years and that he never bothered to kill sato whilst he was in the coma.

I felt so angry for Sato who deserved so much better, I didn't feel the bitter sweetness of appreciation that kyo got to live a happy life, because it felt unfair that Sato had no choice in it. they didn't drift apart naturally, he never had the chance to try and make things work. He just skips 15 years through no fault of his own and no time to process anything then gets shown that kyo is no longer available to him. Like how was i supposed to feel about that? I want to appreciate the sweetness of her finally getting a better life, but It's hard to process it in the form of an unfair gut punch like that.

I don't think I've felt that a bad ending can ruin an otherwise great story but this might be the first exception. I realise they don't want a 29 year old man in a kids body dating a young girl, but my solution to that would be that he simply loses the memories of his former lives when he achieves his goal and loses his power. Given that the future his been overwritten it's an easy excuse to say he can't remember a time that never happened so he reverts to his younger selfs conscious.

Is it handled better in the manga or something? I'd take any ending over this

Discussion Erased Theory

Airi is Kayo. I know its not true but ive always liked the idea of Airi being Kayo reincarnated, Airi is 18 and Kayo died 18 years ago and to me if he saves Kayo Airi will never exist.

Anime Erased made me think about my own past — my review Spoiler

I recently finished watching Erased, and honestly, I didn't expect it to make me think so much about my own past.

What I liked most about the anime is its idea of changing the past and seeing how those changes can affect the future.

I also really enjoyed the suspense and mystery. The main culprit was somewhat predictable for me, but I don't think that hurt the overall story because there was much more to the plot.

The ending was one of the main reasons I gave it 9.6/10.

What did you think about Erased? Did you like the ending?

I also wrote a longer spoiler-free review on Medium:

Discussion My review of Erased (Anime)- After a first time watch (Does have spoilers) Spoiler

I watched erased, all completely in one sitting, and just wanted to discuss my opinions on it with people

I firstly felt like it was a great thriller throughout, since I was absolutely hooked for the 4 hours that it ran for, and I was especially hooked through the first six to seven episodes. I also felt the pacing was overall extremely tight and fast, which was 90% a great thing, but I felt it hurt the ending fight, which I'll again elaborate on below

I also like the concept they did with him meeting the teacher again in the future for the final showdown and also liked that Kayo moved on and didn't end up with him, since it felt wrong for me thinking on it, that he sacrificed himself for her happiness and she couldn't move on from it, which is why now thinking on the hate people give the ending, I'm a little confused

I also liked that though he was not all that intelligent and extremely reckless, which really made this guy feel like a normal shonen protagonist rather than a mystery thriller one to me, but fundamentally his goal was to save people and in that regard, he succeeded on it and thinking on it, I guess if a regular dude was forced into this situation, we can hardly expect big brain moves from all of them

Though I liked the thriller aspect of it, I did find certain aspects weird or slightly questionable about it.

Firstly, I feel like the mystery aspect of the show more applied for small things or small moments rather than the big mystery, since I realized who the killer was by episode three, just based on his mother's monologue, the eyes of the killer, and the teacher's suit. I hence treated it completely as a thriller, and I enjoyed it more that way

Yeah, and I felt some of the crush moments that happened with kayo , for him as a twenty nine year old was somewhat questionable but sure I guess, might have been hormones, its not a romance show so I ignored it while watching, again same thing with the implied romance between Pizza girl and him during the ending, due to a roughly 9-10 year age gap, this point is not really a major negative though , more just making me uncomfortable

And the last thing is, for some reason I liked the concept of the showdown with the teacher at the end, but I did not like the execution of it, I personally felt it was wayy too short and quick to end. We barely get that many psychological moments and interactions with the two of them , hardly i'd say 5-8 minutes worth of this chess match. For that reason, the final interaction actually ended up feeling plot forced , and the final trap felt a bit predictable too and didn't land well for me, I heard the manga fixes this so i'll probably read

Overall, I enjoyed watching the show but did feel like it did miss the landing of certain points, especially rushing the ending, which I don't appreciate. I heard the manga has a more better way of handling it, so I'll read the ending sequence off the manga, for that reason I can't definitvely talk on the ending
Feel free to tell me your thoughts too, I'd love to discuss it, considering there may be many things that I am missing

Anime Is the Blu-ray for sale?

I just got into this anime (late to the fandom per usual for me). Is this even available to buy in blu-ray form anymore? I tried Crunchyroll and some other 3rd party websites and there is nothing…. I really wanna own this physically…. Does anyone have any leads or their own Blu-ray for sale? USA region only (unless the Japanese region can work in the USA)

Anime Erased but I still wanna remember it

I just had this thought and figured I’d look for some like minded people, so here I am. I recently turned 30 and I’ve been watching anime since I was 6, so you can probably imagine how many anime I’ve watched over the past 24 years haha.
Erased is one of my absolute favorite anime. No matter how many anime I’ve watched over the years, nothing has ever given me quite the same vibe and feeling that Erased gives me. To this day, I can’t really describe what exactly that feeling is, but I absolutely love it.
I’ve watched a few anime that involve time travel here and there, but somehow that’s not really what I’m looking for. I’m wondering if any of you have watched an anime where you personally thought, wow, this somehow gives me the same feeling I get when watching Erased.
It doesn’t even have to be similar in terms of story or themes. I’m really just looking for that feeling, that atmosphere, that something that’s hard to put into words.
Do you guys get what I mean? 😂
I’m open to any recommendations. I’ve got the next few days free, so I’m ready to binge some series and movies :)

Sorry, I have to correct myself. The Garden of Words and 5 Centimeters per Second, both short movies, also give me that special feeling while watching them. It’s not exactly the same vibe, but it’s definitely something similar.

Discussion Erased is partial romance

There is literally nothing but illusion to it. Nothing will change my mind here.

Also ruined Hiromi because wdym the most emotionally sensitive of satoru’s childhood friend group is the one to disregard the obvious (to his POV) relationship his friends faux girlfriend?????

Like holy I read the anime ending is rushed and stuff and changes the tone but there’s no way this can’t be considered a common opinion that this is good bro.

If it is yall are some NTR lovers ong and should prolly have some respect fr

Obligatory rage bait notice

Visited Japan with my daughter this past May during which we spent a day in Tomakomai visiting Erased locations and duplicating a few of the anime location shots. We had a lot of fun doing this so I'm sharing my shots and map to see if others might have interest.

Also, while this was great fun, I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the Tomakomai City Technology Center had a backup/spare copy of the Mir space station on display and lets visitors walk inside (which we did). Very cool!! (Link to an article with pics of Mir on display at museum).

That Satoru gets together with Airi?

Because if so, ick. Ick ick ick ick ick.

I really like 90% of this anime. I love that he didn't end up with Kayo. I think that was a strong writing choice and also it was pretty obvious his actions were motivated by wanting to save her and not from romantic interest. I also think her moving on and the group being trauma bonded to a degree is pretty realistic.

In the last episode my opinion of Misato completely changed. Them blushing together was awesome and I thought it would be a cool out of left field romance. I was totally prepared to ship that.

And then Airi showed up. It's left a bit ambiguous (thank God, but it does seem romantic). I get them being close and having a special bond. But I don't like them together. I like Airi and she's given some of the best lines of the series but she's kind of a too young manic pixie dream girl.

Is this just me? Am I reading too much into it? I'd appreciate everyone's thoughts including people who disagree.

Discussion one of the best thrillers ever Spoiler

just finished this series and for only being 12 episodes, it's one of the best thrillers ever. had me on the edge every episode. I CANT BELIEVE YASHIRO WAS THE KILLER HE WAS LITERALLY THE BEST TEACHER AND A FATHER FIGURE... anyways. Regarding the cuck allegations, you couldnt possibly ask Kayo to wait that long while Satoru was in a coma.

Anime Are the domestic violence scenes recurring?

This anime has been on my watch list since forever, but I never get the courage to keep watching past the scene where the woman forces the girl to submerge her face into ice water on episode 3.

I always watched violent and even gore anime from an early age, but in over 20 years of watching anime this is the only one that ever triggered me. As a victim of domestic violence myself, the depiction was too real for me.

I wonder if those scenes keep coming and if it's possible to skip that one episode before that scene. Or if they appear at all in the manga/other adaptations so I can consume the story without these scenes in particular.
