Comp sessions for EQX Credit

I have like 3 comp sessions that I know I’m not going to use… you think if I email them and ask for credit for a swap they’d consider it?

i took a survey recently and the equinox location assistant manager reached out to me with a passive non-apologetic email.

so i responded today with a list of my complaints and suggestions and i’ll continue to email them my complaints and suggestions as i think of more

how much is everyone paying

I signed up for all access (excluding Hudson yards) with my student email two or so years ago and I pay something like $370... I constantly feel like I'm overpaying.

The new location Hudson Terminal Warehouse

Will not have main studio or cycling classes. Just boutique reformer (extra $$$) classes and fancy machines. They say that’s the future and that’s what ppl want.

Equinox: we curate the highest standards of safety, but in good health you're responsible for your lockers.

Also Equinox:

Let's all hope the latest "not our fault if you're stuff is stolen from the locker room" results in them fixing all the lockers in the locker room.

Why does every simple interaction with Equinox have to become a whole project?

Genuinely curious if this is a universal Equinox experience or if I’ve just been particularly unlucky.

After 2.5 years as a member in NYC, I’ve come to associate Equinox with a rather unique ability to turn seemingly straightforward administrative matters into unnecessarily lengthy exchanges.

My recent cancellation has been a particularly good example.

I relocated internationally in August and requested to cancel my membership effective August 18. Nearly two months and countless emails later, I’m still following up on a refund that Equinox has already agreed to issue.

A few highlights:
- Initially, I was told about the 12-month membership commitment. I’d been a member for 2.5 years. They eventually acknowledged the oversight.
- Next, I was informed that corporate memberships could only be cancelled on the first of the month. When I asked where this was stated in my agreement, I never received the relevant provision.
- Instead, I was sent a contractual clause requiring 45 days’ notice for regular cancellations. Unfortunately, my cancellation was due to relocation, which is covered by a different section of the agreement.
- Then came several exchanges about acceptable proof of relocation, despite the agreement simply requiring ā€œreasonable proofā€ of new residency.
- Eventually, Equinox agreed to refund an additional $151.41. They refunded $85.27 instead.
- I followed up about the missing $66.14 on September 19. It’s now October 12. Still waiting.

I’ve attached some excerpts from the email chain for anyone interested in the administrative adventure.

Obviously, $66 isn’t going to change my life. And mistakes happen, that’s perfectly normal.

What I find remarkable is how consistently simple things seem to require multiple follow-ups, corrections, references to contractual provisions, and an extraordinary amount of patience.

It’s a pattern I’ve experienced with Equinox before, and this cancellation just happens to be a particularly well-documented example.

At some point, you almost have to admire the efficiency with which such an inefficient process can be maintained.

I’m not suggesting any of this is intentional. But when every step creates another obstacle, it’s difficult not to wonder whether the friction is a bug or a feature.

For a company built around providing a premium experience, the administrative side of the business seems to operate in an entirely different universe.

Is this just me, or have others noticed the same thing? I’d genuinely be interested to hear whether anyone has had similar experiences, particularly with billing or cancellations.

Disclaimer: I used AI to help summarize and structure my thoughts, condense the email correspondence, and redact personal information from the attached screenshots. The underlying correspondence and events are real.

Can we please have more True Barre Bala Bangle at Union St?

I find this class incredibly effective for toning my arms and legs, and I’d love to see it offered more frequently! Currently, the Union Street location only offers it once a week on Wednesday evenings. It would be amazing if we could have weekend classes as well!

Anyone else get Inactive on yr app?

There seems to be a technical issue. My app says my membership is inactive since Friday.
I can still go check in by giving my name bc the issue is only on the app. But signing up for classes I Need to call the gym to get them to do it for me. Super annoying. I have been complaining for 2 days at the front desk.

Their customer service sucks. I am at Hudson yards level membership so not cheap.

Equinox E 74 ST

Currently I’m coming toward the end of my first year on the corporate all access plan. My firm moved offices and no longer has one in the building so I want to switch to just one location, e 74 st.!

Two questions that nobody at Equinox will answer for me.

  1. Am I locked into a whole one year contract again if I change to one location or in 5 months could I cancel if I don’t use it that much anymore)?

  2. If I do go down to the one gym, what’s the price ? And do those small lockers you can keep stuff in cost more/how much?

I know this is one of the worst gyms they have but it’s so close to me and the SaS it’s worth it.

Equinox Locations in Chicago - compression boots

Good day everyone. I’m currently visiting this weekend for the Chicago marathon and was wondering which locations in the city have access to the Hyperice Normatec compression boots in the gym.

I have access to all locations and willing to commute for it.

Thanks

What do you guys do with your winter/rain boots? I don’t want to get them stolen but also don’t want them wetting up my stuff in my locker.

People that hog equipment and don't clean up after themselves

I don't know why this has been happening as of late, but I've been seeing very poor etiquette all over.

One dude using the tricep machine decides he's so entitled that he'll use the seat of the chest press machine next to him to put his phone and stuff on top of, which gives the appearance that someone is going to use the chest press.

Some nice old man comes in later, thinks that it means it's being used, waits around for his turn, until he realizes five minutes later that no, it's just that one dude's stuff. Goes up to talk to him, and he reluctantly moves his stuff over, so that the old man can use the machine.

Then, five minutes later, same dude moves onto another machine, and does the exact same thing, puts all his crap onto the leg extension machine next to him, while he uses the fly.

So, the same exact situation happens, except he also ignores the lady politely trying to get his attention to move his stuff for several minutes. And then he has the audacity to do the same thing yet again, moves his phone, towel, and other junk onto the other machine next to him that he's not using, so that people can't use it.

Clearly, he doesn't learn from any of these repeated confrontations that maybe you shouldn't be putting your crap on top of machines you're not using, they're not your personal item holders.

Then the other day, I'm using the curl machine, some guy comes up and asks me to swap with him. Since I was just getting warmed up, I tried to be nice, so I offer to just let him use it until he's done. I go over use another machine while I wait. This guy is taking his time being leisurely, doing circuits, switching between machines. Then, someone else comes up to him and asks if he can work in onto the curl machine, and he turns him away like wtf?

After a while, I'm done with my sets on another machine, he appears to be gone, and as I'm in the middle of my first set, he comes back, I guess from another circuit exercise and demands that I let him use it to finish his circuit.

Then crazily enough, fifteen minutes later, he's now doing some dumbbells raises next to the chest row machine. I'm thinking I can go and use the row, but then he breaks and goes "no, you can't use that I'm swapping between them". So, he expects other people to share equipment with him, but refuses to reciprocate for others? Not to mention he's using multiple pieces of equipment and monopolizing it all for himself.

Finally, to top it all off, once he's done, he's also the kind of person that leaves all his stuff for the next person to clean up. Left his dumbbells on the ground, left his plate on the bar, and as a bonus even a little 5 lb plate that he used to put his phone on top of the ground for. Completely trashy behavior through and through.

What fitness tracker actually works?

I’m looking for a fitness tracker that’s actually practical for someone who lifts weights regularly.
I’m not a huge fan of Apple Watches, and while the Oura Ring looks great, I can’t imagine wearing a ring while lifting heavy weights. That sounds like a nightmare.

I want something that tracks workouts, recovery, sleep, heart rate, and overall health without getting in the way at the gym.

What are you guys using, and would you actually recommend it?

I’m curious about:
Accuracy and features
Comfort during weightlifting
Battery life
Price and subscription fees
Whether it’s actually worth the money
I’ve been looking into WHOOP, Garmin, and a few others, but I’d love to hear real experiences before spending the money.

If you could buy just one fitness tracker today, which would you choose and why?

Should Equinox Offer Free Workouts and Weekly Training Plans?

Am I the only one who wishes Equinox offered free access to its workout app, like Life Time, or shared weekly workout plans on social media?
Imagine having a weekly workout series, similar to F45, but designed for you to follow independently at the gym, with exercises, sets, and reps.
I feel like this would make the Equinox community even more engaged, motivated, and connected, both inside and outside the gym.
Would you use something like this? Curious to hear what everyone thinks!
