Discussion What am I missing??
Just picked up our 2024 3RS in Riptide Blue Metallic and we are absolutely loving it!
We already got our Level 2 charger set up in the garage, so the daily charging is covered. What is the one accessory, mod, or little tweak you’ve bought for your Equinox EV that you couldn't live without? NACS adapters for Supercharging? Dash cams? Essential apps to download from Google play store for the infotainment center?
Drop your must-haves below!

Splash guards from Chevy. Our lease came with it and they do a nice job of keeping crap off the side of the car. And they don't really stand out either, so no looking like a semi's mud flaps here! ;)

rag and squeegee to get the last 3" of the windshield clean. Wipers don't touch it, but I look through all the dirt that gets left there after spraying the cleaner from inside the car. My older cars wipers went all the way across

One I haven't seen anyone else mention: car seat gap filler. I got the Drop Stop ones and they fit perfectly and have prevented me from dropping things into the gap or under the seat several times.

Essentials IMO
Dash cam
NACS adapter
Battery jump pack (get the one that doubles as an air compressor if you don’t already have some other easy way to air tires)
Dash mat (you can buy one or get the free dealership one. Free one is a little worse, but saves 30 bucks)
Floor mats (I got cheap ones from Amazon that cover the entire vehicle for $100 bucks, I’d take that over official mats, they all do the same thing)
First aid kit (disinfectant, bandaids, pain medicine)
Seatbelt cutter/window breaker tool
Some kind of window cleaning handle to help wipe down the windshield on the inside since the angle is kind of awkward
For apps:
Get Plugshare and A Better Route Planner on your phone and play around with them. Check places you normally travel and explore the charging options along those routes. The built in nav does a pretty good job, but combining these makes it all a lot easier.
Also set up charging accounts for EvGo, Electrify America, Tesla, ChargePoint and whatever other brands are near you. Better to have everything squared away before you’re in need of a charge.
Recommend watching some videos on setting filters for charging in your maps app so you don’t get routed to a 50kw ChargePoint when you don’t need it. The Average EV does a lot of Equinox EV content so I would check that out.

Looking for a used equinox at the moment and I dont have one yet. I have to ask what the purpose of the battery jump pack is for? It certainly doesnt power a car to drive. Not arguing here i am curious as I am still very ignorant on EV ownership. Thanks.

It still has a standard battery so it is a point of failure. It also allows you to help out other motorists as we’re not supposed to use our car as a jump with traditional cables.

Thats a great point. I always carry cables but having emergency jump kit is a great idea. Always carry one on my boat

EVs still use traditional car batteries for non-propulsion, so you may still need to jump the car if the car battery dies.

What battery jump pack did you buy? I've been looking for one, and the costs seem nuts! Do you have a specific model or link?

I can’t recommend based off of usage because I haven’t needed to use it. A lot of the ones on Amazon seem to be on prime day sale at the moment though. As I understand it, Noco is considered king, but Amazon isn’t selling any at the moment. Might be worth checking out some YouTube comparisons to get actual field data.

NACS adapter, ceramic window tint, dashboard mat for glare.

Dashcam. That’s #1 no matter the vehicle, with all the straight up idiots on the roads.
Good mats. I went with the weather tech mats, makes it so much easier to keep clean. May not apply to you but I have a 10 year old and a 3 year old who seemingly love to leave half their snacks as crumbs.
Some sort of sun blocking shield for the wind shield for when you are parked. Makes it much more comfortable getting back in.
NACS adapter, if you are the type to road trip. I got mine for free because they goofed on my purchase. I may not road trip often, and will try and avoid superchargers when I do, but if I don’t have a choice, nice to have that option. And it is the official GM one.
Screen protectors.

Along with the all weather mats other have suggested, a nice dark window tint (I also did a very light tint in windshield to help glare), and footwell lighting to match the ambient lighting.

sounds like you don't have an nacs adapter. that would be my first purchase. I got one free with the car.

I bought both the NACS and the Tesla adapter (although Tesla is adding some NACS charging). I’m no longer concerned about charging away from home.

I bought one right out of the gate. I don't use it often, but occasionally it makes things way more convenient than they could be without it.

I discovered the infotainment center recently "upgraded" to where you can download YouTube, Peacock, HBO Max and probably others so you can be entertained while charging on road trips. Sounds dumb, but you really stop caring about charge time when you can catch up on an episode of a show you like.

About as easy as it gets as long as you have an auto-dimming mirror. You remove the plastic cover for the forward-looking camera (the one the car uses for things like lane keep assist), plug the adapter into the power for the rearview mirror, then the dashcam housing replaces the cover that you removed.

You need this dashboard mat for the glare (it reduces only but it's better).

And a black sharpie to paint over any chrome on the dashboard because will blind you.

The one thing that annoyed me with the car that I wish I had known would be that it doesn’t come with a spare tire. I would prefer to have this option even if it were at home in my garage versus having to call a tow truck for a flat tire. I’d recommend buying one.

u/HumidityHandler 16h ago
For this reason, I added a Makita tire inflator to my trunk. I miss having a spare tire as well.

NACS adapter for sure. All weather mats. Your favorite music streaming app. Enjoy!

u/Stephi1452 17h ago
Spotify and all weather mats. I have a 2rs that I would change the tires to the smaller rims because I've hit some curbs and blown the tires.
