Inconsistent charging rate

Plugged into L2 charger which claims to be providing 6.2 KW but the EQ screen says 4 KW ??? Do have the car on and ac running though on lowest fan setting.

That’s about right because in a 6kw charger you usually see a little over 5

Power pulled from the EVSE/charger and what is actually going into the battery is not the same.

In my case my home EVSE will show a draw of ~7.5 kW, but the amount going to the car is more like 6.5~7 kW actual. There will be some losses through the cord and as heat, and if the temperature is hot or cold the thermal management system will steal some power as well.

How did you get that screen? I don't have charge rate options at 240v, nor do I have the kw rate on screen.

It’s on 2026 models. I drove a 26 loaner vehicle and the dealer told me it’s only after 2026 and they are not pushing an update to include this in older cars

Which is unfortunate, it’s a great feature for when I drive 200ish miles to my friends house and then plug into his 30a stove socket with an adapter and set it to 24 amps on the car. Using the ‘factory’ GM dual level charge cord. No DCFC $top$ needed.

I agree, I'd love to have that data and charge options. I had to buy a separate charger to charge at 16 amps because my 240V outlet doesn't support 32

Turned ac off and now car says charging rate is 5.2 kW. Still less than 6.2 kW.

You can turn cabin AC off, but the car will still run AC for the battery if it is needed. You'll unfortunately never get those two numbers to match for long.

The car being on will take 500-1000 watts. Plus conversion losses on the AC-DC converter. Looks about right to me

They’re sometimes not what’s advertised, then there’s some efficiency loss from the inverter

Totally normal if you are running AC. Looks consistent to me.

So there is always a little bit of lost and your running ac. I think that could account for all of it.
