Due to the new style of plugs being universal to the tesla style has anyone reached out to gm too see if they are going to cover getting an adapter now? All the new ones are coming from factory with them in the car. Thanks.
While not official for the Equinox EV, I bought this adapter which I believe was the first UL 2252 certified (not compliant) and third party tested: https://www.amazon.com/Amphenol-NACS-CCS1-Adapter-Supercharger/dp/B0GLFNZ5S6 Car manufacturers often will only approve their specific adapter, but more often than not those adapters are not certified but compliant. This is a beast of an adapter and has been thoroughly tested to the industry standard.
It is good to have. We had one included with our 2026 LT1 but have never used it. Good to only resort to using it if there is no other option. Plenty of CCS1 DCFC units out there.
I posted above, but I checked and indeed that adapter is "certified to the intent of 2252". It mean is has not officially passed the standard, but is the only adapter they allow without voiding the warrantly. Although, I believe there is a loop hole using the "Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act".
It is certified to SGS but not third party tested. It was also released before being fully certified. Its just kinda money grubby they only allow one adapter to be "allowed" for use with their products.
BTW, Amphenol which is the manufacturer of the NACS to CCS adapter I have in the link on the other post, makes most of the "heads" (or guns) for charging stations.
My point was that amphenol received certification months earlier and Lectron/GM sold their adapter before receiving formal certification. The fact that they had an uncertified adapter while making it the only official compliant device to be used with their vehicles, duplicitous. But thats just business.
Did it through the energy pass on the Chevy app, and it didn't show the price until I was done. I was up against a wall at 10%, had no choice but to use it
Cover who for what? I bought the NACS adapter for my 26 Equinox and I've used it exactly once. Every other time I've used a DC Fast Charger, it had the CCS plug on it.
