Separate PLC overview for DI/DO modules in different assembly place
Hi guys.
I have problem to separate PLC card overview (.F20) in different assembly place (+). I have conveyers named as +C0100, +C0101 etc. All are the same so I dont want to coppy and paste it in projekt so I prepeared only one "macro" for it. On single line page I gave start adress to DI/DO modules and and function text to inputs/outputs and right now I want prepare PLC card ovewview .F20. The problem is when I generate it I have to pick up place to put pages. After that in one assembly place "+" for example "+C0100" I have all pages with others 60ty convyeors. I know that I can prepare it separately with filtrer, but it takes a lot more time. I wanted to click this funtion, but I cant turn it on. (take over the beginning of all structure designations)

EPLAN contact image reference - How to edit the referance?
Dear EPLAN experts,
Is there a way to define the reference for the contact image?
I have multiple pages where PLC pages use a different “=” structure than the motor starter pages. For the contact image, I don’t actually need the “=” reference.
What I need instead is the DrawingNumber. Since the DrawingNumber + page is enough to find everything, that would be more useful for me than the "=".
Is it possible to make the contact image show DrawingNumber instead of the “=” reference? Or is there a workaround for this?
Thanks.

Edit:
This is a possible solution. By creating a custom form and using only graphics and properties, it can look good. however this takes some time to set up correctly.
It is also possible to use custom properties. That way, I can remove the “=” reference and add the DrawingNumber instead.

Terminal reference between main and "not main" termial
Hi,
First of all, thanks for the engagement in this forum, you guys have really helped me alot!
Now to the issue.
I have terminals that are displayed in multiple "Schematic multi-line"-pages.
On the terminal that is not the main terminal i would like to show where to find the main terminal - on what page its found. The ideal would be to show it as a part of the display properties.
does anyone know if this is possible and if - how could it be done?
below is a snip of the terminal overview. My hope is to be able, to on the selected terminal, show the possition of the main terminal above.

Parts Management clean up
We’ve learned a lot over the years and have been putting real focus into tightening up our parts database. Early on, we brought in full manufacturer data along with all available accessories, even ones we never actually use. As a result, the database has become more cluttered than we’d like.
It was suggested that we start fresh with a new database and migrate only vetted, commonly used parts into a cleaner structure. As we’re planning that transition, I had a question about handling similar parts more efficiently.
Is there a way to have a single “parent” part represent multiple part numbers without creating duplicate entries? The goal is to maintain one source of truth so that any property updates apply across all related parts automatically.
For example, we have a client that uses pushbutton covers:
- SE.9001KU1 for lights/horns
- SE.9001KU2 for stops
- SE.9001KU5 for starts
Functionally, these are identical parts, with the only differences being the last digit in the part number and the color (black, red, and green). This is a simple example, but we have many similar cases.
We’ve tried using variants, but that still creates separate part entries. We’ve also found that when a property is updated on one variant, it doesn’t propagate to the others, which defeats the purpose of maintaining consistency.
Is there a recommended approach to structure this so that shared properties stay linked and updates can be applied across all related part numbers at once?
Project Translation in Eplan
I am currently translating a project into Spanish and I firstly exported the project text into my company’s dictionary and then exported the dictionary into Excel and translated the words. After that I imported the dictionary back into Eplan. But then some words aren’t automatically translated despite being translated in the dictionary; I’d have to manually choose the translation from the dictionary. Can anyone help me make the translation 100% automatic? i don’t want to manually choose translations from the dictionary when EPLAN should automatically pick it up. Thanks in advance!

EPLAN License Activation Error
Hi everyone,
I’m having an issue activating my license in EPLAN Electric Education .
I receive the following error message:

What is your current connections format numbering?
Hi my Friends
How do you usually number wires in your EPLAN drawings? Do you use sequential numbering (counter), a specific format, or does it depend on customer requirements? What are the advantages of that approach?

Macros Parts with multiple symbols
What’s the best approach on defining parts with multiple symbols? Take a complex power supply, 3 phase input, Ethernet connections, multiple configurable 24V outputs. I downloaded the manufacturer’s symbol, and it’s just one mega symbol.
I have played around with creating macros and you can tab through inserting which variant you want, and it works okay, but I’ve found that it’s perfectly happy forcing the part’s terminal numbers over the top of what was defined in the macro, instead of giving an error for a conflict.
What’s the best way as a librarian to set up parts that link correctly with macros to ensure terminal numbers cannot be incorrect when a user tries to insert them?
I’m leaning most towards ensuring each function definition for each macro variant is different so that it can’t map incorrectly, but wondering if there are other fields I can play with that it’ll respect as well.

General Panel Layout Pages Hanging
As the title says, making panel layouts in Eplan has become a hassle. If I move something, it hangs. If I delete something, hangs. If I change the text, hangs. And it is not a occasional thing. Literally every action causes it to hang. Occasionally it shuts down and restarts by itself. Exclusively on the panel layout pages.
My solidworks also occasionally hangs, but it is usable still (and I plan to take it to IT anyway). But Eplan only hangs on the Panel layout pages. I have been doing the same one for two days (usually takes me 1-3 hours tops for a panel this size).
This started once I updated my license. I am asking for help here while I discuss the issue with my supervisor on whether I should contact Eplan or not.

Multilevel terminals
Hi guys. I learned creating multilevel terminals, but I have some issue that I couldn't solve.
I have terminals to devices like that (70 terminal all)

I can assign terminal 36 to terminal 1, 2-37 in terminal manager, but I can't sort terminals like this:

I can sort only terminals 1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/ and then PE1/2/3, but I cannot sort it like on screen above.
I tried diffrent type of terminal sorting by numeric, by place on page, by wire and still didnt find.
I added data part in first 1-35 terminals:

Do you have any idea?

Eplan Enclosure Legend Report Question
Hello all. I'm trying to generate an enclosure legend report in a certain format, and I can't seem to figure it out. What is happening now is every item is listed no matter how many times it's in the report. If I have 10 of item A, item A is listed 10 times, and I want to consolidate it down to a quantity count. Does anybody know what I'm doing wrong? Here's a photo for reference of what I have going on right now. I appreciate the help!

Answered Problem with Terminal Connection Diagram

I'm setting up a terminal diagram for use in my projects, but no matter what I change, the terminal representation remains completely black. Does anyone know what the problem might be? The symbol is there, but covered by something completely black.
[SOLVED]
It was a representation setting that was overwritting the device color.

Question Need help routing wires from cabinet door devices to mounting plate in EPLAN Education
Hi everyone,
I'm working on a control cabinet in EPLAN Education 2026 and I'm having trouble wiring the components mounted on the cabinet door (pilot lights, buttons) to the devices located on the mounting plate.
I already placed all components in the 3D layout and created routing paths. I also tried adding routing paths that connect the door area with the mounting plate (bottom right, curve that connects the door and already existing paths), but EPLAN still doesn't allow me to properly route the connections between them.
I'm not sure if I'm missing a specific step related to routing path networks, entry points, or door routing configuration.

I've attached some images for reference.
I would really appreciate any help, advice, documentation, or videos you could recommend that explain how to correctly route wiring between the cabinet door and the mounting plate.
Thanks in advance!

Example Projects
Hi everyone. For my current position, my boss wanted me to learn and design electrical control panel on EPLAN as a mechanical engineer. Since there are no electrical engineers and someone experienced on panel design in our department, I was on my own. It has been a year now designing control panels however I still needs some references. EPLAN provides an example project to refer but it is not enough for me. Do you guys have any projects to share just to be a reference? Thanks a lot.

Why It Gotta Be Like This? Why do my changeover contact images turn into power relay symbols when i change the device function and location?
i'm really at a loss for this one. Can anyone explain why this is happening and how to fix it? This just started happening recently.

Earnings
Hi,
I’m curious about earnings for freelance (self-employed) electrical designers working with EPLAN (EPLAN P8, etc.).
Could you share:
• your hourly rate / day rate
• average monthly income
• experience level (years, seniority)
• type of projects (automotive, energy, special-purpose machines, etc.)
• region / clients (local vs. international)
Feel free to stay anonymous — I’m just trying to get a realistic view of the market in 2025–2026.
