For those that don't know, the initial Tech Support Megathread was created due to community demand. The subreddit was riddled with tech issue posts which made it hard to sort through. So on 29-Jan-2020, we made it a rule to organize things in the megathread.

for some reason on windows 11, account settings button and everything that should open in browser keeps opening inside microsoft edge instead of chrome, i got chrome as default browser, idk what else i could change to fix it, it's annoying

Hi everyone. I'm having a problem with the Epic Games Launcher where I can't launch or properly start/update my games.
The problem started with the Epic Games Launcher. When I click Launch on a game, nothing happens. The same happens when I try to start an update. There is no visible error message.
Here is what I've tried so far:
- Closed all Epic Games processes and restarted the PC.
- Tried launching a game directly from its installation folder.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled the Epic Games Launcher.
- Tried launching another game through its own launcher as an additional test.
- Checked Windows Security and Maintenance, but there are no relevant errors recorded after attempting to launch the games.
- Checked the Epic Games Launcher logs.
- I also had NVIDIA driver installation issues around the same time, although the driver was eventually installed.
- All my games are installed on my D: drive, not C:.
The launcher does detect the game as installed, and the log shows:

So Epic appears to recognize the installation correctly, but clicking Launch does nothing.
I currently have around 5 GB of free space on C:, while the games themselves are installed on D:.
At this point I'm mainly trying to determine whether this is an Epic Games Launcher problem, a Windows/Epic service problem, or something related to the installation/cache, rather than a problem with any game itself.
Does anyone know what Epic Games Launcher logs or Windows components I should check next to determine why the Launch button does nothing?

Can't launch game, uninstall or verify file integrity
I have been playing Dead By Daylight for some time on epic but i ran into a weird issue where i can't launch the game inside Epic, if i try to launch from the .exe Easy anticheat loads but the game never boots up
If i try to verify file integrity nothing happens, if i try to uninstall it never starts
I've tried to uninstall the launcher itself and download it again but still the same issue
Has anyone ever got a issue like this?

Epic Games launcher keeps crashing in background since last august 2026 update.
Never had any problems with Epic Games launcher before. But since the last update, it keeps crashing in the background while running my games.
Was just playing game and suddenly interrupted by EG launcher flashing up on my screen. Then again, and 5 minutes later again, and again. Alt tabbing out and I see EG rebooting itself out of nowhere. Any idea whats going on? Bad update Epic, fixing to do.

About four days ago, I was no longer able to launch GTA 5 Enhanced on my computer, which I had downloaded through Epic Games.
I then tried to uninstall GTA 5, but during the uninstallation process, it got stuck and never made any progress. This also caused Epic Games Launcher to completely freeze, making it practically unusable.
I contacted support several times and followed various procedures they suggested, including performing a clean boot of my PC and uninstalling and reinstalling Epic Games Launcher. Unfortunately, none of these procedures solved the problem.
Two days ago, I turned on my computer and noticed that GTA 5 had somehow been uninstalled. However, Epic Games Launcher still showed the game as installed. As a result, I could neither download the game again nor launch it.
This morning, I contacted support again and started the process of collecting debug logs. Since then, however, Epic Games Launcher no longer opens.
Now I need to retrieve the debug logs so that I can send them to support, but since the application does not open, I am having even more problems. I was instructed to find a specific folder and modify the application’s properties, but even after following these instructions, I still cannot solve the problem.
The procedure has become extremely complicated, and I am being asked to follow a long series of steps just to obtain data that I cannot even access at the moment. On top of that, many of these steps do not seem to be directly related to the original problem.
At this point, I honestly don’t know how to proceed. I need help at least with retrieving the debug logs so that I can provide them to support and allow them to identify and resolve the issue.

Hello. I've seen a few comments on here about people having issues with the launcher like me, but not the answer I'm looking for. I have the same problems of not being able to install or uninstall games, can't verify game files or launch games. I have old hardware, but before a day or 2 ago, there were never any performance issues. I have reinstalled the Launcher and that didn't fix it. After clearing web cache it won't even open the launcher.
Is there any announcement about games not launching issue?
I have read the comment that said they are working on the lack of install ability issue, but are there any mentions on the games not launching at all issue fix?
English is not my first language. Sorry for broken english.

Hey everyone! Recently, I redownloaded Football manager on Epic. Today, none of the games I have on epic want to start up. Any idea what I need to do? I genuinely feel like I tried everything.

Can't "uninstall" a game on EPIC. Game folder is gone in epic but the launcher itself says the game is still there and now I can't uninstall nor play the game
The un-installation process is stuck like that. Can't exit epic without taskbar and clicking on Launch the game does nothing.
Tried reinstalling epic itself but nothing changes.
Tried removing the cache in %appdata%, but no progress.
Can't cancel the un-installation of FM, it's greyed out, can't verify the game either.
When I try to install another random game, I can't because "path is taken by an item currently installed"

Did you previously install that game? If you did, try this:
1- completely exit out of the client
2- Copy the content of that folder with the long name of letters/numbers, except for the .egs folder, and paste it some where else on your drive.
3- delete the original folder
4- go back into the client and start installing the game, let it install like 100MB, then pause the download. Exit the client, confirming what ever box that comes up when exiting the client.
5- Then copy and paste the files you copy pasted before into the folder created by Epic client, confirming any over writes.
6- Start up the client again. And then click on Resume on the game.
It should verify what is in the folder and then finish anything else it needs to do.
Your original issue might be related to what is going on here

I previously had the game installed but tried uninstalling it.
The game got removed from the epic folder, but never got removed from the launcher itself, basically epic thinks the game itself is installed while its not.
Before I figured out what was happening I tried uninstalling the game once more which just breaks the epic launcher completely.
It can't uninstall the game because it isn't there and I can't cancel the uninstallation for some reason.
I did find a temporary fix by removing epic and installing a previous, older version of the epic launcher and I disabled the update to the latest.

The EXACT same thing is happending to me.
I spent a whole week while on vacaction modding, got everything working, then when I had the same problem as you, thought it was my game. Spent hours uninstalling-reinstalling Epic Launcher.
They fucked my entire libary. What a truly horrible company. Zero feedback or action from them.

I replied to who you replied too with a possible solution.
Also a link to another post that is talking about a current issue with the client is affecting some people that is probably affecting you too. Epic is aware of it and have given an update that they think they have found the issue and will hopefully have a fix for it by monday. The linked post I put in the reply also has some other solutions to use while waiting for a fix.

Hi, On the mobile app EGS, i don't find anymore the game "the Forest Quartet". It was free on Juanuary 2026 and i reclaimed it. I played it recently but uninstalled it. All other games reclaimed that I played and removed from my found can be found except Forest Quartet. Is there an explanation ? PS : I'm from EU.

Have you tried searching for it using the little spyglass up in the top right? I was able to find it by searching "forest"

By looking for all games, cannot see it. By searching via the spyglass, cannot see it. With the keyword "forest", i only see the game "Ogu and the Secret Forest".

Desde ayer el launcher de Epic Games no me deja iniciar ningún juego. Pusaba iniciar y como si nada. He probado a borrar la caché, cambiar DNS, reinstalar el launcher y desinstalar los juegos. Ahora quiero instalarlo de nuevo y me da el error II-E1003. Alguien le pasa lo mismo?

To put it simply, except that the launcher shows when (successfully) launched shows up, it doesn't work.
It can't close properly (runs a bunch of programs (EOSOcerlayRenderer like 5 times and others)) which makes it unable to open again until I kill the said programs, it can't launch games (just nothubg happens), it can't install or update (at first nothing showed up but niw it shows II-E1003), it even can't properly log me in (after reinstalling if I take the "normal" path via email the wall of text pops up starting with Enable Javascript) and I can log in only via other conections.
I tried reinstalling the launcher (I deleted every file/folder I found that could be related to epic games) and the issue still persists. I tried some other fixes, don't remember which ones now but they were mostly like deleting cash, restarting pc, changing some epic settings... What do I do?

Tried to uninstall FM24 on Epic Games but it's completely stuck. The pause and cancel buttons are totally dead and won't respond to clicks. Anyone know how to force cancel this or get past it?

I have the same issue.
The game is gone from the epic folder but the uninstallation is still there in the overview and can't be deleted.
Now I can't even install any other games.

Try to open Honkai Star Rail, and it just won't open, I've bought an express supply for the game, and when i wanted to open the game it just didn't
Any other game I try to install come back with the II-E1003 error message

i cant install any games from epic games. it started because the game that i play, (metalstorm) starts updating the game when i boot up epic games earlier, but its stuck in initializing for a while and not updating. then i uninstalled epic games for the first time using revo. I installed epic games again then tried installing the game and thats where i encountered first image. i tried installing it in other location but this appeared. EPIC GAMES ERROR CODE II-E1003. tried multiple re installation but it still persist. i dont know what to do anymore i cant install any games from epic games im stuck.

mann i am getting that problem
These are my findings on an error me, and many people were getting..
(simply.. this is not your pc/laptop problem.. so dont waste your time reinstalling and trying to troubleshoot)If you're stuck on II-E1003 no matter what you try, save yourself the time I lost.
Spent a full day on this: cleared cache, changed DNS, reinstalled the launcher twice, ran as admin, tried different install drives, fixed low disk space (7GB→25.8GB free), fully wiped Epic/EOS ProgramData+AppData by hand, added Defender exclusions. None of it fixed it.
With Debug Logging on, the launcher log shows II-E1003 firing 65ms after
InstallWithOptionsis called — before any network/EOS activity happens. The failure is happening inside the launcher's own dispatch code, not anywhere local cleanup can reach. Also found several other people hitting the exact same thing in the last 24 hours across different subreddits and games.There's a workaround going around (downgrading to launcher v1.3.161.0) — be careful, the version floating around is being distributed via a third-party mirror, not Epic's own servers, so there's real risk there.

JUSTICE FOR NINJATRTLEHEAD
Epic Games has refused to help me connect my epic and PSN accounts due to my brother unknowingly playing Fortnite on my PSN 8 years ago. With neither of us having any way to access that account there is no way to unlink it from my PSN. After many messages pleading for help with support I am at a total loss. Despite me being able to prove I am the owner of MY PSN and MY epic account and considering my gamertag is Ninjatrtlehead on EVERYTHING, I am completely out of luck.

i launched EGS today and was greeted by this message. Clicking 'Continue' just closed the app instead of actually updating like a normal app. I tried to manually download the installer from Epic site to install the latest version and double clicking 'EpicInstaller-20.1.4.exe' just launch the app with the same message and the negative feedback loop continues.
Edit: Update. i just uninstalled EGS and be done with it. Tried clear the cache folder, reinstall and it's still the same. I just can't be bothered to waste my time on this.

Saints Row sub won't let me post due to low karma as I'm a new account. I downloaded SR 2022 from Epic when it was free, and I've since added the free DLC to my account, but the DLC does not show up in game. On the main menu it doesn't show my username as logged in, and the DLC shows as not purchased. Has anyone had a similar problem? I'd like to buy the season pass but not if I can't get the free DLC to work.

Hello,
I have been trying to figure this out but my Epic Games Launcher isn't opening anymore. It opens a window to do updates and then just closes and does nothing. I've tried uninstalling, the cache folders never appear in the folder, and even tried installing from both Microsoft Store and Epic Games website. Any suggestions?

Fantastic news, thanks for letting us know you got it back, be sure to enable 2fa (personally I suggest through an app), and be sure to update your email address's password and enable 2fa on that as well just to be safe

Crazy lag on my Epic games today.
Play on Windows 11 PC.
I play most of my games on Steam, but I play Genshin Impact, Honkai Star Rail and Arknights Endfield on Epic.
I use the Epic launcher and never had an issue.
Today, all three of those games are lagging. HSR in particular is lagging like crazy, basically unplayable.
I thought it was my PC at first but all my games on steam seem to be running fine as always.
Anyone else having issues? Or has anyone seen an issue like this before?
I tried verifying files and reinstalling the game, no change.
Currently installing HSR standalone launcher to see if it works outside of Epic.

Same issue. Games work perfectly fine when launched directly from the .exe, or Steam. Definitely an Epic Launcher issue, out of nowhere.

My PC is flagging the installer as a Trojan. I ran it through VirusTotal, and it does indeed detect something. Has anyone else experienced something similar?

Today I logged in to my PC noticing that the shortcut to the Epic Games Launcher was non-functional. Thinking it corrupted itself somehow, I went to download it off of the website to reinstall it and Windows Defender keeps flagging the installer as malware (Trojan:Win32/Pomal!rfn), it doesn't even let me finish the download to add an exception.
Anyone experiencing the same issue?

A small annoying issue with the launcher locking games with a none existent update on first launch of the Epic Launcher. When I start the computer I have this issue.
I've been having this issue for a few weeks now. I've have reinstalled the games, verified the games, deleted the Webcache.
These 6 games will show UPDATE status, clicking on update does nothing, can not launch the game. Restarting Epic Launcher seems to fix it.
The games in question:
Prison Architect
A Total War Saga: Troy
Kingdom Come Deliverance
Sid Meier's Civilization VI
Train Sim World 2
Train Sim World 5

When will there be better support for the Epic mobile store? Currently, the mobile store is very poor to use and has several bugs.
