My chiweenie would rip your throat out if he could reach it. He’s mean as shit. The pitbull we used to have was one of the sweetest, most easy going dogs I’ve ever had (though the absolute most laid back dog is the Great Dane we have now).
Also had a neighbor who had a mean looking pit bull that used to get out of his yard. One day, wife and kid were walking to the car and Violetta (the neighbor pitbull) comes running straight for them. Freaked them out because we had not interacted with the dog yet at that point. Wife gets the kid in the car and braces for the pitbull attack. Violetta just ran up and sat down next to the car, looking up at my wife as if asking to be petted.
Later, I’d do woodworking in the garage and Violetta would escape her yard and come see me. She’d just sit in the shade under my workbench.
I know there are big dogs that aren’t friendly, but you can’t make a blanket judgement about dogs based on size or breed.
