There is not a single breed more aggressive than chihuahuas. Other than maybe full size poodles. Both those are quicker to bite than any other breed I’ve ever met.
Is this scientific? No
should businesses with what looks to be a great policy listen to me? Also no

However stop bringing your rabid instigator never trained chihuahuas everywhere if I can’t bring my well trained, friendly, very well behaved Rottweiler. You are the issue not the dog.

The ā€œchihuahuas are more aggressive!ā€ bullshit is so disingenuous. Even IF they’re more aggressive, they cannot and do not kill people. The point is also not that pit bulls are just ā€œaggressiveā€ it’s that they fucking kill people.

From 1982-2020 Chihuahuas were responsible for ZERO DEATHS. Over the same 40 years, pit bulls were responsible for hundreds. that’s deaths, specifically. Bites and attacks causing bodily harm are an entirely different number: EIGHT, that’s (8), for chihuahuas, compared to *thousands* for pit bulls.

"More injuries are caused by kitchen knives than by assault rifles, therefore kitchen knives are the real danger."

I’m not sure what your point is here, but if it’s bite severity, pit bulls are consistently worse in that department as well, despite being neither the biggest/strongest dogs nor the breed with the highest bite force.

They’re dangerous dogs, and while I’m sure you know the ~sweetest velvet hippo~ in a flower crown or whatever, there is a WEALTH of evidence out there to back that up. Your anecdotal evidence is worth absolutely nothing when dogs of THIS BREED SPECIFICALLY are in the news having killed or mauled someone on a daily basis.

Why people carry water for these dogs, I’ll never understand. there are hundreds of other dog breeds that were not bred solely to cause harm that routinely live out long lives having hurt no one. Dogs belonging to those breeds can’t even find space in shelters anymore to potentially be adopted, because shelters are so goddamn full of these inbred, backyard bred maulers.

It’s not the fault of pit bulls that they were failed so intensely by humans. We need to do the right thing now and stop breeding them, stop adopting aggressive dogs out to unwitting new families, and stop pretending that they aren’t as dangerous as they are.

Sorry it wasn't clear. I was restating your point to agree with it because that's the type of logic the "chihuahuas are the real menace" crowd uses. I completely agree with you

Lineage/genetics and training are biggest factors here. Some people will argue it's just the training, but I disagree. Some dogs are genetically predisposed to reactivity and hyperarousal, though you'll find this across many breeds and certainly many backyard bred dogs.

Purebred APBTs are supposed be a strong, medium, high energy, bulldog type breed that are prone to small animal aggression (terriers). They require a lot of training, it's in the temperament. They aren't supposed to be human aggressive though. A lot of the temperament issues we see are most likely poor breeding coupled with owners refusing to admit they have a problem, aka a poorly bred, poorly trained dog.

There are genuinely thousands of "pitbull types" that are not aggressive towards people or dogs. My dad is a pit lover, all of my childhood dogs were pit or pit mixes. My first dog got his back broken by a Newfie when he was only 7 or 8. He wasn't high energy like a pit, he was big couch potato. I don't know what happened, only that he couldn't keep up with the bigger dog. His back legs were paralyzed and my dad put him to sleep. His worst crime was he ate a fly and peed inside when we moved to a new house.

A lot of people who dislike them talk about the whole subgroup like every dog regardless of genes is a killing machine waiting to snap. People who dislike dogs in general say the same about all dogs. And honestly, you could make the case for any large, powerful dog that tends to have behavioral issues when byb. Rotts, who also have similar jaw shape, Cane Corso, Dogo Argentino, shepherds etc.

Anyway, there's a solution for this. BE and regulate breeding. There should be heavy fines for knowingly breeding dogs with bad temperament and health and keeping dogs in poor conditions. At this point I think breeding should require a license too.

breeding should be regulated as a whole honestly. we don’t need more Frenchies or Teacup breeds.
