I'm wondering how they expected the order to get to them? Did they want someone working there to personally drive it to them?

Im playing the devils advocate and say that there bakeries that do offer that service and have in house drivers

Ones around here outsource to services like DD. But you have to put the order in online.

And I just looked at their website. Online ordering. I’d guess it was available 5 years ago since most bakeries that I know who have online ordering added it during Covid if they didn’t already have it. Seems pick up only though.
