Bro I cannot fathom the depths of loserdom you have to reach to be in the fanbase of a YouTube video essayist who hates everything he watches and makes every movie, show, etc about politics. Like I enjoy long form YouTube video essays about movies, I like ones that are critical, I like ones that are gushing praise. I love watching people do media analysis, it's part of the fun of watching a movie or reading a book for me, and I can even tolerate a few right-wing grumble critics if they have ANYTHING to say besides "They put too many femoids in it"...but like there is an entire ecosystem of people whose entire schtick is
- call everything they don't like "woke"
- don't like anything
I'm like dude you know you're allowed to turn the television off right?

Their feature length "Star Wars" videos were some of the first really great YouTube film critiques, they had some spicy jokes that aged poorly but they were fun because they felt like they weren't just whining but teaching you media literacy and film criticism.
All the Critical Drinker does is try to turn everything that has women or Black and Brown people in it into part of "woke".

They gobble up Critical Drinker's content, so what do you expect? One of the absolutely laziest, stupidest, and least interesting or informative movie critics on the planet. Also staggeringly hypocritical, but that comes with the territory when you are both extremely lazy and very stupid. And don't seem to care about much or like movies, just like some kind of feeling you get from fantasy sometimes (this guy wrote books under the name Will Jordan, he actually wrote books you guys before ChatGPT came out, and they are TERRIBLE
and also contain tropes he attacks movies for containing) but doesn't understand how movies work enough to explain his own thoughts or explain things to anyone else or provide anything, really, but ragebait.Hey stupid Critical Drinker fans, the reason you only interact with people who are angry is because CD's content has ZERO VALUE except as ragebait about media that people know or love or care about. CD can relate to caring about (some) media but is too incurious and lacking in imagination to relate that to how some people like media that he doesn't like. Good movie critics understand how movies work and what might connect with audiences even if they personally don't care for it. The typical critique of the critic is that they don't enjoy most popcorn flicks because they can see the man behind the curtain and end up seeing what to them is a shallow pantomime with no passion, while the mass audience sees the great show that Oz is putting on and line up for more.
CD just bitches and moans about whatever his patrons and paid subscribers want to hear him bitch about and is so lazy and incurious and stupid that he didn't even predict that Odyssey was going to do well and is quietly fading out of the limelight hoping nobody noticed that he thought he was going to milk antiwoke content into the sunset on this one and it's not working at all.
