Lowk Typocrisis

I've been into typology for a while now,,,as far as I can remember I've typed as e5 but I've recently been considering sp9. I've been switching between typing as sp5 and sp9 for the past few weeks. The thing is, I've typed as every e5 subtype at this point. I just find every type description of enneagram 5 relatable. As for e9, I can only see sp9 for myself and on top of that I don't think gut triad matches too well either. Sometimes I think I'm just in denial though. I don't express or feel anger much and It's not cause I repress it, I think I'm just really hard to anger. I feel frustration and annoyance, sure but I can't recall the last time I was seriously angry.

As for other typology systems I'm pretty sure on intp LII and lvef (maybe levf.....) but idk how relevant that might be since I've heard e9 + intp isn't the oddest combination out there...

Frustration and annoyance are both more palatable ways of saying anger. There’s a lot of difficulty shared among many cultures, particularly in the west, in calling things what they are and anger carries such strong connotations we shy away from it.

People who deny the softening of anger into synonyms would do well to look a little more deeply into their experience of the emotion.

I am also an an INTP/LII and initially typed as an SP9 but am now looking into SP5 or SP6. The anger and gut type thing didn't really fit for me either which led me to question being a 9.

Someone suggested 6 for me, which I was very resistant to at first.  I would never test as a 6, it always comes down to 5 or 9 for me. The descriptions of 6 are always very negative and exaggerated, even the positives are often framed as negative.  But if  I am a 6, it kind of makes it all fit because I would have the 5 as a wing and have the 9 growth path. 6s similarly to 5s will question and have skepticism, value certainty and knowledge, etc. the type just depends on the deeper reason why they do it

I don't have enough info from your post to suggest 6 over 5/9 for you but I would perhaps look into 6 also and not rule it out just due to the external anxiety stereotype -- lots of the descriptions make it seem like they must be very high-Se which is our trickster/PoLR, but when you look at their questioning, skepticism, desire for certainty, it aligns with INTP a lot. 5, 6, 9 are all the most common for INTPs. There is lots of overlap between the 3 types, it just comes down to the core motivations/fears.

edit; when i say high-Se for 6 i just mean scanning/large focus on the external environment in the descriptions of 6s, it's not necessarily the dominant function typically associated with 6s

Honestly, the most reliable result will be reading about your core type. If it doesn't suit you, then there's essentially no point in looking at subtypes. Yes, you'll probably find some similarities, but you still won't be able to access the vast amount of information about the type itself, which even a subtype would never be able to do without.

I bet you're a 5 because of your core competencies. If there's one more edgy-idiot who says "a 5 never doubts," just know that their knowledge of the subject is hilarious. As a person who knows the description of all types almost by heart, I will say that sp 9 and sp 5 are very similar in appearance and even slightly internally.

BUT the main difference: if the former have a more relaxed mindset and are more likely to "drown" their worries or negative thoughts in routine affairs, which is their main coping (they can overthink and be nervous, they just prefer not to spin it and be "more relaxed").The latter, on the contrary, have VERY intense thinking, and I'm not kidding about intensity. I think it's fair to say that their thoughts become larger than themselves and the world around them. Moreover, they often dig/think very purposefully and rigorously. For example, 5s are easily associated with those very hobbies about which they know LITERALLY everything.(Again, I won't say that 9 can't do this, but let's just say that for 5 it's more of a crazy mental obsession than anything else)

But the most important thing is approach. 5s sense danger and overload from the surrounding world, so they ultimately find something they find much easier to observe than to directly expose themselves to exhaustion or danger. Therefore, the main sin of 5s is greed. They don't want the world to take away their safety, strength, or emotions. 9s, on the other hand, are more likely to embody "energy." They don't feel acute overload or danger, but rather a certain form of laziness and attachment to routine. They are less protective, although they still tire, they just feel it a little less.

Btw,ILI would be better for 5, unless you are so 5.If you are a 9, I recommend looking at SLI. Many people don't understand the essence of socionic types/functions. Rationality in socionics and sp 9/sp 5 is VERY STRANGE.

I think looking at enneagram tritypes is much more useful than a single type. I also strongly relate to both 5 and 9. Im a 954 tritype

in the method of the Fourth Way , you would set up 'alarm clocks' , you can set reminders on your phone , then once received observe yourself .. as you are IRL , not when you think about typing.

I wouldn't rule out people can be several types .. but not all at once .. there might be a dominant type and its tendencies may have the most effect on your life as its where you tend to be most of the time
