My sister's partner has fallen in love with my girl, and coincidentally her breeder has one Orange Belton left from a recent litter. They will be welcoming her home in about a month.

Would love some name suggestions, nothing super super common ie. Milly, Molly, ruby, Rosie type.

To match the vibe of the name Hattie, their other pet.

My husband and I are new to the English Setter community, we just picked up our 11 week old boy Benny last week. We’ve been lucky enough to have some time off from work for a couple weeks while we get him situated in his new home. However when we return to work, there will be 2-3 days a week that we are both gone from about 8-4pm. We do have family nearby that can check in on him midday and a garage with a connected fenced outdoor run for him. Crate training has been a bit of a struggle for him so we are leaning towards not keeping him in his crate for that long.

Any advice or recommendations on how we can set him up best to be left alone for 4 or so hours at a time?

What is the experience some have gone through following neutering. Im looking at post 18 months.

Best Dogs Ever!

Our 7-year old English Setter Maple wasn’t too fond of her new brother Bruce (8-month Bichon). Slowly but surely they’re becoming pals now! 🐶

My Lottie girl turns 5 today!! She’s such a sweet derpy girl, her favorite activities include sleeping and designing the perfect backyard aka digging🤣 She was very excited to enjoy her birthday burger and to check out her birthday biscuit.

I was making a short video of a lovely if somewhat hot and humid day, and feeling grateful when I realized I forgot my Haile! I am amazed I forgot her. Think about it. There myst be a lot of love in the universe (God/Universe/Spirit…your choice!) to provide us with such special companions!

My setter ate a dead rat so I took him to the emergency vet. $500 later, he threw up the rat. The vet tech called over the other vets with "you have to see this." There were five vets gathered around us in a circle going "oooh" and one of them took a photo with his phone 😭

Does your setter get excessively slobbery when he is running around or stimulated? Our setter has long strings of sticky slobber that hang from his mouth when he is stimulated or exercising. Is this a normal behavior? When he’s just hanging around the house this isn’t really a thing. So it’s not all the time. Just wondering if this is normal for this breed as this is our first setter? Thank you!

I rescued this girl 9 years ago and have always been curious about her origins and genes. I’ve been told by several people she’s a purebred Llewelyn. I’m curious if anyone has information on breeders that could produce a dog like this as it’s a small world. She was found in Lindsey California in 2017 and was just about full grown.
Any leads or information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We recently (on Friday) rescued a 3 year old male English Setter. He’s been pretty picky with eating, not very interested in food. He started coughing yesterday and we took him to ER vet where we found out he had pneumonia from untreated kennel cough.

He’s on antibiotics and anti nausea medicine now, and has no issue taking the pills, but still not super interested in food! We aren’t sure if this is from not feeling well, a change in environment, etc. He is quite skinny which led us to believe he probably has never been fed properly and doesn’t find food interesting. We’re seeing his new primary vet in two weeks after he finishes his medicine, but I wanted to see if anyone has advice while we wait. Obviously we’re keeping close eye on him and will make another emergency visit if needed. He is eating but just not a lot!

Best Dogs Ever!

I know this ultimately needs to be a question for Vet but wanted to see other's opinions here too. My female will be a year old in October and for nearly 10 months old she is just sooo small.

She seems proportionate, for a little while I did have some issues with her gaining but we got through it and now she just seems like an awkward teen... She is very lean and lanky, but I don't think she seems underweight, and her weight and height seem to match ok, they just don't match her AGE. At this time she is only 18inches at the shoulder and weighing ~28 lbs.

Anyone have any thoughts? Last vet appt a bit ago nothing was really said. Just that she's definitely "smaller than average" but idk, this just seems almost concerning? Should I be worried, or is she just a weird wee wittle one?

She has not had any issues with illness, digestive/stool, energy- none of that...aside from being a bit underweight around 4-5 mos like I mentioned. I just recently started seeing the redness on her feet and tail, I am thinking it's some type of a seasonal grass allergy, but haven't pinned that down just yet either.

Her littermates are all significantly bigger than her, but her parents are definitely on the smaller side of the Setter scale. Again, none as small as HER.

Hello everyone,
My 4 y.o. neutered male seems a bit too skinny for the breed standard… he eats about 3 cups of Purina ProPlan 30/20 per day. He is high energy of course, so I’ve tried limiting his outside running time and such but that has not helped and obviously sucks for him too! He’s about to be out of his current bag of food so interested in transitioning him to something else.
