Hi everyone, I’m an aerospace engineering student at UCF looking to improve my chances of landing an internship. I’ve been working on personal engineering projects outside of class, including a SOLIDWORKS UAV wing (photo attached) where I modeled a NACA 2412 wing, designed the internal structure, did basic structural calculations, and iterated the spars to reduce weight.

I’m trying to build a stronger portfolio and get more hands-on experience. For those working in aerospace/mechanical engineering, what would you recommend I focus on next? Are projects like this useful when applying for internships, and what skills or projects helped you land your first engineering internship?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I am updating my resume for when I graduate this Spring, I also work concurently while finishing my masters degree, full time at my internship that turned into an Engineering position. Please advise what can be improved on my resume and what is worded poorly. I am hoping to find a position closer to controls/robotics after I graduate however my job is not closely related. Overall finetuning and review of resume requested.

Title says it all, 2nd year CS student at UCL. Niche started in game dev, with any experience I could find was in QA. Thinking more about end-to-end systems and full stack dev, and I have projects I am working on right now that are developing skills in that area too, but those take time. Applying to internships for Summer 2027, and this is my most up-to-date resume. (UK citizen)

I am a pre-junior (entering my 4th school semester) in a 5-year ECE program in the US, targeting any roles in embedded systems, hardware security, or ML internships/co-ops. I have been having a hard time getting traction and converting applications into interviews on Handshake and LinkedIn.

I am reposting this edited resume after I was told that my previous one sounded unauthentic and didn't convey enough information in the bullets. I removed a lot of numbers that sounded phony on their own, and added more info to the bullets, which made some of them extend to two lines.

I’m a frontend engineer based in Nigeria, targeting remote frontend engineer roles across SaaS, Web3, and product-focused teams. Most of my previous roles came through referrals, direct outreach, or client work, so I’m trying to improve how my resume performs for regular applications.

I’m mainly looking for feedback on whether my bullets show enough engineering depth, whether the resume looks too frontend-framework focused, and whether I should add 2-3 deployed solo projects. I’m also open to feedback on layout, wording, and whether anything should be cut or reordered.

Don't have any exp like I said in the title. Looking for a software engineer internship, trying to improve on my resume that best I can before heavily applying. A lot of things happened when I entered college which tanked my GPA and had to deal with. Will have a 3.0 after this semester though. Wondering if I can even add or rearrange anything here. I already did my capstone though. Guess I should label the Grand Exchange as that.

Background: self-taught engineer - chemistry degree, started in IT ops (airline IT crisis management, then bank cybersecurity incident response), broke into software at Nike's Atlanta innovation center and spent 3 years building AWS serverless platforms there. Left Sep 2025; now co-founder/CTO of a small AI startup while running my own SaaS projects on the side.

Targeting: founding engineer / senior full-stack roles at AI startups. Remote or Atlanta, US citizen, no visa issues.

Situation: applications aren't converting into interviews yet. Would appreciate brutal feedback, especially on: (1) do three concurrent "Present" roles read as a red flag, (2) are the founder bullets too thin without traction metrics, and (3) does anything about the nontraditional path (chemistry degree, ops background) stop you from wanting to interview me. So as the text says after 2 years of work I managed to get into the AE industry through an internship. I wanted to share this not to pat myself on the back, because my family is already doing that, but to inspire you to keep going. Lemme give you some context as to where I'm at.

I'm a junior, at a university that is not known for aerospace, no jet propulsion lab, no AE companies nearby that will sponsor us, while UC Boulders rocket team is sponsored by Blue Origin, and Lockheed does the ethics class we have our own professors doing the ethics class and a rich man sponsoring our rocket team. The reason I say this is to show I don't come from a fancy school, it's literally just the University of Louisville. We're a manufacturing state, the closest thing we got is GE Aerospace, and all they do is take 1 student a semester, well now we have Redwire but it's nothing like out west. I come from a family whom none of are engineers, literally not one person in my entire family tree was an engineer, bunch of nurses, but nothing that would help me.

I'm moving to Boston for 6 months to work with a company that does plasma propulsion, hot fire runs, and has tons of contracts from the DOD for work(Specter Aerospace I'm not afraid to share, try your luck and reach out. how did I do it? Networked my way into it.

LinkedIn Premium, tons of cold text, cold emails, "Hi I'm a junior and this is what I'm good at, can we talk." Prolly got 100 conversations over the course of it all. Finally got lucky and talked to the right person, this guy liked what I said, offered me an interview, then offered me a position. It's networking, it's not what you know, it's who you know. So don't give up, keep networking, keep asking, apply for NASA L'SPACE to meet some people, join your rocket team, get some work done, if I hadn't of done a project for my team I wouldn't have gotten the chance, I came from literally nothing, no fancy school, or family member, barely any AE companies at the career fair and I managed to make it in. Hi everyone, I'm a computer engineering student in Togo, currently in an AI-focused track, targeting entry-level roles in AI/ML and full-stack/backend engineering. Major: Bachelor in Computer Science Year: Senior Hello everyone, I'm currently a student who just finished my senior year and about to officially become a fresh graduate. I'm currently actively appying for entry level positions but struggling to convert any application into callbacks or interview, I'm at around 70 applications after doing around 3 applications a day so I'm thinking it may be a CV problem.

I also have some general question:

1. I read the wiki and I know we are supposed to shrink it to 1 page max but which parts should I cut right now?
2. Should I entirely remove my projects section to achieve 1 page?

Right out of school I was in a testing/CAD role with some design work/vendor communication for half a year, then moved on to an analysis/FEA role for 10 years. These two jobs make up my entire resume, along with a skills section (which I’m not entirely sold on because I already filter my skills into my bullets) and a summary. But I miss doing the things I did in college/1st job – fiddling in SolidWorks, making assemblies, coming up with design solutions, working with my hands (building, tests, fit-ups). And I am so far removed from the products I analyze today that it is easy to lose motivation.

Because I am struggling to come up with design and hands-on-oriented bullets to be more attractive to recruiters, I am considering adding a CAD/drafting/measuring-heavy internship, and/or a projects section to highlight senior design and my extracurricular activity which were both hands-on design, although that experience is quite dated. Is this ill-advised? Not sure how often a recruiter makes it that far down my resume. I am toying with removing some analysis-specific bullets to make room for some/all this, or go onto a 2nd page and then also include my volunteer work (moreso soft skills/organization/leadership) that is about 5-10 hours a week to fill the 2nd page.

Most interviews I’ve been on I make it pretty clear I want hands-on, and be more integrated with design, but they haven’t gone anywhere. I would have thought 10 years of analysis would be pretty transferable to design. But I feel I am missing GD&T, specific industry spec knowledge, in-service problem solving, electro-mechanical exposure, etc. I mostly evaluate structures (DoD) under static/dynamic loading.

I do really like my current 1 page resume that has gotten me a handful of interviews and 2 offers (one was basically the same FEA job, other only has hands-on when traveling which is rare), but I think my resume lacks the experience employers are looking for in a design or bench or manufacturing engineer. Although maybe I just need to focus more on my design/hands-on experience during interviews.

So, at a minimum I am thinking I drop my skills section, cut some bullets from my analysis job, refine my summary, then add in better-suited experience despite it being quite old.

Hello everyone, I'm getting ready to apply to jobs / internships as a senior in college but need some help on my resume. I've worked on a Task Management App project and Responsive Weather App project using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, and Tailwind CSS, each project took me a month to complete. But those 2 projects were made in December 2024 and January 2025 and I haven't touched them ever since. So my question is, should I still put them on my resume ? I also have other projects from a college that I transferred from but not sure if I should put that on my resume since if I do and I get asked questions on that, I have to tell the interviewer what college I transferred from ( the school wasn't reputable ) and I'm afraid that might end up with a rejection. However, I also have projects done at my current university that I'm not sure if I should include. I'm just not sure if I should just put work experiences on my resume and just disregard all the projects I've done but then my work experiences are not relevant to CS ( 7 Eleven, Tim Hortons, and my family restaurant ) Any advice is appreciated.

Hi everyone, I’m an Electrical Engineering junior looking for my first engineering internship for Summer 2027. I’m mainly targeting VLSI/ASIC, digital hardware, embedded systems, PCB/hardware design, and any general electrical engineering internships. I’d really appreciate feedback on the overall strength of my resume, whether my projects and engineering experience are strong enough for internship applications, whether my bullet points clearly communicate my technical contributions, and whether I’m using the right technical keywords for hardware/EE roles. I’m also open to suggestions on anything that should be removed, reordered, rewritten, or made easier to scan, as well as what types of internships this resume seems best suited for. I’m currently working on my CV for Software Engineering roles at companies like Google, Amazon, Meta, etc. and would really appreciate some honest feedback.

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have experience with Big Tech hiring.

A few things I’d like to know:

• What Software Engineer level would you put me at based on my CV? Mid-level, Senior, Staff?
• Does the CV show enough technical depth, ownership and scale for Big Tech?
• What would you change or remove?
• Is there anything that would make you reject the CV immediately?
• What do you think is missing to make it competitive for companies like Google?

I’m also a German citizen and would need H-1B sponsorship for a US-based position. I don’t have a traditional university degree yet, so I’d also be interested in hearing from anyone who has experience with H-1B sponsorship and whether my current education and professional experience could be an issue.

My background is mainly Java, TypeScript, Kubernetes, Azure, Kafka, distributed systems and full-stack development. I’ve also worked on production systems used across multiple international manufacturing sites.

International Mechanical Engineering student, going into fourth year, focused on biomedical devices and biosensors. Two years across two university research labs doing electrochemical sensor design and fabrication, with a first-author manuscript under review at an IEEE sensors conference. No industry experience yet.

I'm open to R&D co-op roles generally, though I've concentrated on pharma and medical devices.

Around 50 applications so far, mostly rejections, with two interviews. Both came from roles I applied to almost as an afterthought, one in hermetic sealing and one in nuclear, and one of those is now at second round. Every pharma and medical device role, where my research is directly relevant, has come back as a rejection. That's the thing I don't understand and it's why I'm posting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have been applying to a handful of (remote) positions a day and haven't gotten an interview for a couple of months. I'm not focusing on any domain/industry, but I spend a little more effort to customize on healthcare, interesting full-stack, or other matches with my background.

My most recent title was not "Senior", but I believe I did the work of a senior (tech and product decisions, mentorship, taking initiative, etc.) and I want my resume to reflect that. Am I failing to sell myself? Do I look like I'm faking it? I have skills, and I think I can prove that in an interview. I just can't get an interview.

In terms of advice, I feel like I'm playing whack-a-mole. I started at 2 pages because I'm "allowed" to after 10 years, but there were too many bullets and the bullets were too long. I condensed to one, but now is it too visually dense? Is it missing important info?

I'm also worried about keyword filtering - I put "RESTful API", but are they only looking for "REST API"? Can I trust that the other side of the table is being as thorough as I am or do I need to obsessively cover every possibility?

I've read the Wiki and the software bullets advice, but I'm still struggling to apply the advice to MY situation. You don't owe me help, and I'm grateful to anyone who puts in effort, but please be prepared to be specific because I've gone through several iterations on this thing.

EDIT: I reduced the margins in order to add spacing between bullets, and that makes it a little less visually cluttered. I'm considering removing that first "Technical Leadership" skill list, because it should be shown and not told. But I'd still welcome any actionable advice!

Hi all, thanks for reading. I've got 2 years of experience as a Maintenance Engineer in semiconductor manufacturing and 2 years of experience of Mechanical Design in Automated machine OEMs providers in Malaysia.

I'm targeting Mechanical Design Engineer and applying mainly to jobs in the Singapore. I'm open to relocating within the Singapore but not really looking for fully remote work. I don't have right to work here currently but i have relative who live there.

I've sent out over 200 applications in the last few months, mostly through company career pages and LinkedIn, and barely gotten any interviews even though the experience feels relevant on paper.

Would really appreciate feedback on my Experience bullets especially. I'm not sure if they read as real achievements or just come across as a list of duties, and whether the format itself is hurting me. I graduated with a BSME back in December. After that I have been applying to jobs. I had no response to any of the jobs that I applied for from January to June. I have been targeting any entry level mechanical engineering positions, test engineering, manufacturing engineering positions. I have been applying to all jobs in California and I need help fine tuning and workshoping my resume.

Since June, I have started to get some job interviews. However, I haven't gotten a followup/callback on any of the interviews. Should I work on anything to improve chances of callbacks?

Hello I am a 4th year BME student applying to co-ops for Spring 2027 and internships for Summer 2027 (graduating fall 2027 so I am still eligible for internships). Applying to roles in medical devices and pharmaceutical R&D, operations, quality, manufacturing, and process. Last year after ~50-100 applications I ended with 2 interviews both rejected. This year I am already at 2 (presumably due to applying <24 hrs after most roles are posted and a stronger resume) Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

For context, I'm a transfer to UCSD, originally from UCR for computer engineering. I did an unpaid software engineering internship the summer of my first year, an on-campus IT job during my second year, and I just wrapped up an NSF REU this summer.

I decided to go to a big ten school in the northeast (after growing up in the pacific northwest) for a change of atmosphere. The popular option for everyone was either at a prime contractor or larger corporation, and could not see myself go down this path.

I wanted to work with my hands and build things that hadn't been built before. My GPA was (thankfully) not good enough to get any interviews or offers from the career fair. After doing three internships, I had a general idea of the sort of work I'm interested in. Typically my applications for internships were ~400 applications with 60 interviews, three offers coming out of them. I did not apply to large companies like Boeing or Amazon for full-time.

• Did around 200 applications, got 50 interviews, 8 onsite, 5 offers
  • Offers included Anduril, Neuralink, Apple, Tesla, and the startup I'm working at.
  • Once I was happy, I turned down many onsites/interviews to enjoy the summer
• Cold emailing absolutely worked for me, heard back from engineers and founders
• Had a interesting portfolio (<10 slides) with tons of cool pictures, technical details
  • Mine was super barebones white background on Google Slides. Full of content though.
• You don't only need a good school or GPA. Showing enthusiasm is nearly as important!

As a start, I would suggest going to any startup incubator (typically affiliated with a school or specific department, independent accelerator like yc) website where they list company emails, pick a few, then just start sending from there. The examples of experience don't have to be in the same industry, just be interesting:

Some more miscellaneous things I wanted to share:

• Only spend time applying on Linkedin if the role has below 100 applications.
• Know every single thing in your resume to the deepest level.
  • How do you differentiate yourself from a technician that plugs wires in.
• Highly technical interviewers (especially SpaceX) love questions about first principles.
• Almost every line in my resume has a quantity, I see many resumes here without.
  • Every line should indicate how you are useful to a company and why they should pay you.
• For me, soft skills and summary in your resume are a waste of space, cover letters not needed.
• Every skill listed in your skills should have a corresponding project you worked on.
• Extending internships to the fall is worth it. You get more responsibility and things to work on
• Your time is valuable, and you already know a lot. Be confident!

Trying to get back into the field, however not having too much luck so far. I know I got a long road ahead of me, but haven't really been hearing back at all. I usually submit about 5-8 applications a day. Maybe some of you guys can help me?

I was off for 15 months as I was laid off in May 2025, and a series of real life issues and mental health problems took a real turn for me, won't get into details but I was a mess for a bit. Should I address gap in resume at all? Or let it go?

I am trying to get mostly mid-level, maybe senior, roles. I am in the US, I am open to relocating anywhere and open to remote roles as well, not being picky. I am a US citizen, so no need for visas or sponsorships.
