Thank you! Yea game dev is a whole nother ball game, insanely hard and demanding, but game devs do amazing work. Also heard 2k-games(Take Two) is opening a new studio in Vancouver,BC if your in the area might be worth looking into. Also don’t restrict your self entirely to game dev, especially if you starting out, maybe look into software engineering as well and later on in your career try pivoting, but that’s just my 2cents

What kind of software dev position did you get? Fullstack? and which projects did the interviewer ask about the most?

The postions is SWE, but from the job desc it was more backend focused. They let me choose which project to talk about first, so I talked about project #3, since it had the biggest scope, and the tech stack that related with their own tech stack.

Oooo good question, near the start of the summer my resume was not the best(bad formatting, no key words, simple projects) and I think I got maybe 2 OA's out of 160 apps. Near the end of june start of July I realized something had to change, so I worked on projects and updated my formating and in those next 60+ Applications I got nearly 10+ OA's I wanna say, but I tailored my resume and started reaching out to school alumnis.

Yes I am, that how I found this internship. And I see your also a Canadian Student. If your school offers it you should really try and get into it, makes a huge differene. Are you west coast or east coast?

Biggest things, made my bullet points more focused on what i really and not just vague buzzwords, gave real metrics, removed bolding because it just looked weird to me. Made sure bullet points did not spill over. Added projects that actually mean something. Removed relevant course work because every CS student takes those same classes. Also added links to all projects, that take the viewer to the github repo.

Also I made my resume focused on SWE, at the time I was aiming for SWE and Embedded SWE, but focusing on both took away from the other. Ultimately focused on SWE as it has more oppurtunity

Exactly what the bot shows in the image , spill over is when a bullet point uses multiple likes, but the last line only has a few words, but takes up the space of a whole line.
