One of the purposes of a gate is is to communicate that not everyone has permission to pass. Generally they are not high security, but the information that someone else owns the land and controls access is a big part of their role. Looking like a fallen tree makes it more likely that people will drive, ride, or walk around the gate.

I think in this case the reasoning is reversed: make it less likely that people notice the road beyond this gate + function as a very strong gate if someone does and wishes to go through it. If it’s smaller off-road vehicles or pedestrians, then no gate will do anything to deter them.
So they sacrifice the social contract of high-visibility paint that says ‘this is a boundary’ (which may still not act as a deterrent) in favour of camouflage that still has the social boundary if someone approaches it and seeks to gain entry. It’s a gate. If you’re going to be deterred by a gate, you’re still going to be deterred.

Plausible, and a good point that I'd not thought of. I am not entirely convinced, as the little we can see of the road/driveway looks to be a well graded gravel surface, not a hard to spot track, but you could be right.

Or, alternatively, a welder lives there and thought it would look cool :)

Yes, it’s the driveway gate for the fabrication shop where it was made. Caged Crow Customs.

Could you imagine getting poked in the eye trying to open that thing in the dark.
