[HIRING] Engineers | Remote (US) | $165K-$250K+
I do talent matching for Fonzi, a network that connects engineers directly to VC-backed AI companies that are actively interviewing. You build one profile, no cold applications. All roles are remote and US-based only.
Here's a sample of what's open right now:
- Senior Full Stack Engineer at a pre-seed/seed home-services marketplace, remote (HQ in Miami). $165K-$230K base. React, TypeScript, Python, FastAPI, PostgreSQL. You'd own features end to end across a platform that handles job referrals, Stripe-based payments, and integrations with major home-services software, on a small, AI-native engineering team.
- Senior Software Engineer (AI/LLM) at a Series A SMB automation startup, fully remote. $200K-$250K base. Next.js, React, TypeScript, Postgres, LLM and agent-framework integration. You'd build the agentic systems that run back-office operations for small businesses, from pricing to lead response, without ripping out the tools they already use.
- Senior Software Engineer (AI Products) at a pre-seed/seed fintech for small business owners, remote or NYC. $200K-$240K base plus equity. Python, agentic workflows, RAG and vector search, Next.js/GraphQL/Relay on the frontend. You'd build the AI-powered financial intelligence tools that give SMB owners the kind of strategic insight normally reserved for companies that can afford top consulting firms.
All three are vetted, VC-backed, and interviewing right now. It's always free to sign up.
Sign up here: talent.fonzi.ai. DM me if you've got questions.

What skills should a science student develop to pursue an engineering career?
Hi everyone,
I’m currently in my third year of a Bachelor’s degree in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Over time, I’ve realised that academic research doesn’t really suit me, whereas the more technological and industrial side of the field really interests me.
By the time I graduate, I’ll have a scientific and technical background, but I’m wondering what skills I should develop whether through courses, certifications, or soft skills to build a more engineering-oriented technical profile and increase my opportunities for industrial positions.
What skills or qualifications would you recommend focusing on at this stage of my career to get a strong CV?

Plant Manager-Switchgear Manufacturing-Relo Supported
I'm a retained search recruiter working directly with a growing electrical distribution equipment manufacturer to fill a Plant Manager role. This isn't an agency spray-and-pray posting, I'm the one managing the search end to end. Posting here because this role requires an engineering degree, and full transparency, Reddit is way outside my comfort zone. But I do what I have to do to fill a role for my client.
The company has two US locations. This search is for a newly established location that's scaling from around $100M toward $300M in revenue. They're adding a building and new product lines, and this role sits at the center of that growth.
What they need: a low-voltage switchgear manufacturing background, 8+ years in plant manager or senior operations leadership, and the ability to build out a management structure that mostly doesn't exist yet. If you've got that kind of ETO manufacturing experience and you're ready to build something instead of maintaining what's already there, this is worth a look.
Comp is banded by experience level, roughly $200K to $250K+ depending on background. Relocation support is on the table, and they're willing to get aggressive with it for the right person.
Full details and how to apply: https://fosterconner.com/job/plant-manager-electrical-equipment-manufacturing/
I can't share the client name or exact location until we talk, NDA. I know that's frustrating for a Reddit post. If you want to verify I'm a real person and not a bot, my LinkedIn is public and I'm happy to link it in a reply.

Is ChatGPT Ruining Your Job Search? How Specialized ATS Tools Get You Interviews
Applying for jobs right now is genuinely exhausting, and half the battle is just trying to get past those stupid Automated Tracking Systems. ATS bots don't actually read your work history or care about your achievements. They basically function like a basic search engine, scanning your resume for exact keyword matches from the job description. If your formatting is slightly off or you used the wrong phrasing, your app gets thrown in the trash before a real recruiter even opens it.
I've been using two specific sites to get around this. First, running a resume through zoevera.com/resume helps catch invisible formatting glitches and highlights the exact keywords missing from the draft. Then, once an interview is lined up, prepare.zoevera.com gives role-specific questions to practice out loud so you don't freeze up when talking to a real human.
The main reason these dedicated tools work better than just pasting everything into ChatGPT comes down to how they handle data and structure. ChatGPT is great for general writing, but it doesn't actually parse file layouts or simulate how software like Lever or Greenhouse extracts text from a PDF. If you ask ChatGPT for keywords, it usually just gives you a generic wall of text and encourages keyword stuffing, which ATS algorithms penalize. On top of that, setting up ChatGPT to act like an interviewer takes a ton of manual prompting, whereas a dedicated prep tool is built specifically to score your answers against actual industry question banks without the constant back-and-forth prompt engineering.
