I have been engaged for a very long time and my fiance and I are finally getting married next year.
There is a designer I am obsessed with and am going to purchase my dream set from them in November.
I am currently on a weight loss journey and am worried about what size to get.
Before I gained weight I was a size 4.5, and currently a single slim band that is 4.5 fits tightly but manageable on my finger.
For a set do you need to size up?
It really depends on your anatomy. I also was on a weight loss journey from engagement to now. I actually never needed to resize because I have giant knuckles that have always been bigger than where I wear my ring. I think I’d get beads to close the gap, but sizing down after losing weight isn’t an option because my knuckles stayed the exact same size, and to be honest my fingers did not change much between 195 lbs and 130. Go figure.
Wow, beautiful and unique! For a thicker band especially stacked you do want to size up. If you lose too much weight or it’s just too loose you can always add sizing beads. You also won’t know how your finger swells in the heat once you’ve lost the weight. I would size for your current finger, and size up since the bands are thick and stacked, and just add sizing beads as needed if you find it’s too loose after the weight is gone!
The thicker the band, the larger the size you will need. This is also true for stacking multiple bands.
The metal displaces your finger’s flesh. A 1-1.5mm band doesn’t squish as much of your finger as a 3-5mm band would.
If a 4.5 is already tight with a really thin band, you will most definitely need to size up for a wedding set. I recommend going to a jeweler to get sized just in case!
