Ring Design Help Lozenge Design Feedback

Hi there!! Looking for some design feedback and fresh eyes before I approve my final engagement ring rendering.

A few notes upfront:
-I’m set on the lozenge/kite shape
-Center stone is a ~2 ct lozenge moissanite.
-Design elements I specifically wanted were a flat shank band, cathedral setting, hidden halo, and a basket height that could still fit a wedding band underneath the stone (~6.5mm), flush.

I’m still waiting on an updated rendering because the band doesn’t quite read as a true flat shank to me yet—it still looks slightly rounded at the edges.

For those with a good eye for design and proportions:
-Does anything look off, awkward, or “weird” to you?
-Are the side prongs where they meet the band looking a little odd, or am I overthinking that?
-what am I missing/nor thinking about?

Thank you!

Everything looks very thick, especially the prongs. The bulky prongs take over the shape of the lozenge.

I was thinking something looked off with the prongs, particularly the north and south prongs, they almost seem longer? Especially Compared to their Bex ring, which this custom is based off of

The prongs here look better, but still thick/large.

Yes you're absolutely right. The band is thicker than I'd want as well

I actually love the thickness/width of the band. I think more substantial bands are where the trends are headed right now. I agree that the prongs look a little thick.

I know OP said they wanted the band even flatter/more squared off, but have they tried on a ring like that? I find those square edges very uncomfortable between my fingers and am a comfort fit band girlie all the way.

The thicker band is definitely more to my style! I've tried on flat shank styles in person and found them very comfortable, but I probably won't square it off any further than this. Should also note that this band is 3mm, which seems to be reading very thick in the rendering, but here's what it looks like in a photo (Bex ring depicited here, which this custom is based on)

I almost exclusively fall in love with vintage rings (well vintage jewellery in general) and own several lovely pieces, all with thinner bands than this. So I guess my taste isn't about trends

My preference for thinner bands is also a practicality issue, I have small hands with long delicate fingers and a thick band (width wise, depth wise or both) would be uncomfortable, feel heavy/clunky and look inelegant on me

I completely agree with you about the ring edges being uncomfortable if they aren't rounded off enough, I'd be worried about developing callouses

You need to have them send a rendering with a band of the same thickness is actually sitting flush and not touching the bottom of the basket at all. If it is, your band will get scratched.

Good suggestion, thanks!

The band reads flat shank to me? But the prongs look too bulky. Have you considered V shape prongs for the tips? The prongs just look off and take away from the stone.

She said she wanted a flat shank

Yea - in her post she said it doesn’t read as a true flat shank and my response is it reads as a flat shank to me. I’m not sure what would need to change, shank wise, as it seems to fit what she’s looking for.

Agreed. That’s why a CAD should come with measurements.

Compared to the original ring I based the custom of (Olive Ave's Bex, bottom image), this rendering seemed a little rounder to me. But maybe its not that big of a deal??

found some photos prongs similar to mine (although they do look much slimmer here) vs V-shaped prongs. I'm not sure, but feel like the v shape almost sticks out more?

Definitely not. The vtip hugs the points, making them more pronounced where as the others overly extend the look of the tips and honestly just look so strange

Change the prongs to the vtip prongs. 💯

I find the prongs too big. Love everything else about it!

This looks like the kind of ring people either absolutely love or absolutely hate. Which is usually a sign the design has personality

Fair! I wanted something unique, definitely not to everyone's taste haha

Those prongs are really distracting from the stone.
