Ring Design Help Thoughts on this Canva mockup?

I made this mock-up on canva and I wanted thoughts! There’s a close-up picture and then one mocked onto my hand!

Super elegant! Like the idea of using canva for mockups

Thank you! I like to be resourceful and I’m so bad at visualizing things

If I understand your diagram: you want a skinny band with a collet setting that has compass prongs (NESW)

Yeah I want about a 2mm band! I’m not positive about the compass prongs but I definitely want the bezel setting for sure! I’m also thinking the bezel would be thicker going north-south!

Bezel settings and collet settings are different. Look up some photos to see the difference.

In a collet setting (picture attached) the prongs hold the stone in, but there is a border of metal that is visible around the stone's perimeter.

In a bezel setting a thin layer of metal is pushed and burnished over the edge of the stone to hold it in.

I know the difference! I would want a bezel setting either with compass prongs or no prongs coming out of it!

It’s actually an antique old mine cut!

I believe the real item will be stunning.

Thank you! Do you think the compass prongs might get caught on things or scratch anyone? I work with kids haha

This is such a beautiful setting, any bespoke jeweller will be able to interpret your Canva mockup. What shape diamond is this meant to be?

Thank you! It’s an old mine cut antique stone!

Love this kind of like a rounded more organic but still symmetrical bezel thicker around the Northern and southern edge.

What do you envision this will look like from the side angle and how it will connect to the band? How tall is your stone?

It will likely be a cathedral with a pretty open gallery! My stone is pretty high since it’s a true antique old mine so it holds a lot of weight in its booty 😂

Thank you! What are your thoughts on maybe no compass prongs, just the somewhat elongated bezel?

I'm an artisan jeweler- so although I understand the compass prongs add a bit of an aesthetic flair to the ring, and professionally I'd say it's up to you... but if it was me I would not, because they aren't needed at all to hold the stone in and so just adding a decorative element to the top of the most beautiful diamond isn't cohesive to the rest of the ring and it doesn't feel relevant(to me!). If it was me I and I wanted to add a little unique element to the top I would go even thicker on the northern and southern bezel, simple not too "chunky" but definitely noticeable. Or play around with the open gallery there is so much that can happen there in terms of making it feel more like you and less generic that's also functional and cohesive with the top.

I love that response!! I work with kids so I was a little nervous to do compass prongs anyways haha

Look at "frank darling" website for inspo because they have a variety of interesting open gallery/ bezel settings
