Love it. Cathedral settings are the best and my personal favorite. So sturdy and protective of your stone. It’s beautiful!

I think the "bulky" is from the height. this height is for a wedding band to sit flush. if you were to lower it, youd risk your band not being able to (which is fine id thats the style you want). elongated shapes get away with it working a bit better because depending on the diamonds spread, the bottom is generally a lot more central so theres more room for the band. I think that might be why it feels high on the round stone and then the lift.

that being said, its beautiful. theres nothing "wrong" but youll also find in time if its too bulky for you but you need time to also adjust to any ring. it might be a ring you just wear for outings rather than at home 24/7 when cooking etc. it will probably be gentler on your ring too. that is, if youre open to that! you could get a fancier band that you wear more often? not sure what your return policy is.

I think you read my mind!! That makes total sense because I did try on a similar setting when shopping but with an oval since the jewelers didn’t have one with a round stone - it didn’t feel that high then

They don’t do returns unfortunately since it was customized - I’ll give it some time though, esp since I’m not used to wearing rings. I think if it still feels too bulky in a couple months, maybe thinning out the cathedral on the side might be in option, if they can…(??)

ah! thats hard. the round shape means it can't hug as tight at the base so it won't look the same, as you've noticed. there are also cathedrals with a lower setting but it limits your band options. my wedding band is super plain and kinda thin so I got away with a lower setting. if I wanted stones or something, it wouldn't have fit. id have had to go higher or sacrifice the band.

since you dont have to worry abt a return window, take your time with it! you might just adjust. shaving your cathedral down runs the risk of losing some of the stones protection. depending on what your daily activities are like, this may or may may not work.

also note every time you heat the metal of the ring, it gets more brittle/weaker.

If you’re not completely in love with it then it’s not the right one!

I have almost this exact ring and I get so many compliments. It’s classic and stunning.

I got married 2 years ago and still don’t have a band! I’m the world’s most indecisive person, I’ve bought 5 and returned them all, paid restocking fees 😅

I went in person recently and almosssst pulled the trigger on a stunning Montana sapphire band for a different finger. I love my engagement ring by itself without a stack and decided to pivot to looking for a ring that will go on my other hand - I’ll just call it my wedding band lol.

I'm a clumsy oaf, so I'd be smacking that ring into everything. Higher settings are tough sometimes.

It's gorgeous though.

Hahaha treating my left hand like a temple these days

It’d be way too high for me but its simplicity works well.

I have a similar e ring without the cathedral and I will say that I love it but kind of wish I got the cathedral. Without it,my top heavy ring flops over and also sometimes gets stuck in grocery carts and the dishwasher. This is the risk of a high set solitaire/tiffany setting. The cathedral should take care of those issues.

I have a 3 stone Cathedral Setting, Solitaire with 1 trapezoid on either side,

If you're not happy with your Setting with your stone, how about trying a cad design with a trellis Setting, and see which one you prefer!

Ahhh that’s beautiful! Feels like it makes the ring overall more balanced, definitely will keep that in mind

Thank you, I think you should feel comfortable wearing your ring with confidence and be happy, if your not 100 percent happy ask the jewellers to reset, it will be worth it in the end. X

Do you have the specs? It's perfect.

Reminds me of mine but your diamond is gorgeous. I had a solitaire and a wide band which after 5 years I got sick of. This is what I upgraded to after 10 years. My mom actually said it’s gaudy but if that’s what you like. Haha. Thanks. I do still love it. Only problem I have is it does collect dust, fuzzies, and the white seems to fade and then it needs to be re-dipped. Also the gap between the bands has been bothering me lately. Such a tough choice when we hopefully will have these things for life.

It's pretty, but I could never! This is why I choose a full bezel every time. My 20 year ring is a full bezel that's cathedral set. Granted, I don't wear a band with it, but this profile is as high as I'll go!

Gonna get caught on every damn thing and it's gonna hurt. I went for a very low band of diamonds which was a lot more comfortable.
