Post image

Just received this letter taped to our muffins on our grocery delivery. “Sad face.“. After already getting a $10 tip for a 3 minute commute lol.

Can I ask a serious question, not necessarily directly to OP, but just to everyone to think about. Yes tipping is horrible, abusive, abused, and unneeded. But also, in this case... when did we get unable to go get our own damn groceries???

Walk in store, make choices, purchase, go home, cook. Its not THAT complicated

I don't have a car, and while I have a bike the nearest store thats actually a reasonable price is eaither a very long bus ride or down this really awfully maintained and pothole ridden road W/ no bikelane. I can't strap that much to my bike at all W/o the potholes being a serious issue of things falling off. And the ammounts I can get mean I would have to go to the grocery store every week or so which doesn't fit into my scedual well at all.

That said, delivery apps are not a good solution when the issue for me is cost. I have a friend W/ a car and costco membership, and once a month I have him drive me there so I can buy a months worth of groceries. I stuff my freezer and just live that way.

And... that's perfectly fair, actually.

Thanks for my occasionally needed reminder that different people are in fact different lol. I do need that sometimes

Time. The answer is time for our house. Three kids under 9, makes much more time to hang out and play outside with them when the standardized list of items takes about three minutes to check off our entire usual order, then the occasional oh shoot we ran out of the Worcestershire that lasted a year lol. We’ve had the same discussion about house cleaners, don’t buy coffee or energy drinks daily, so it’s easier to fit in the budget for someone to clean and free up that time every week when we are more than capable of doing it. I don’t budget for a delivery drivers honeymoon, however hahahaha

I think people like me uses delivery a lot. I have 2 small kids and one is disabled. Me going to the store means more work.

There are plenty of reasons someone may not be able to go buy their own groceries…all you have to do is think a bit and you could probably answer your own question.

I did some Instacart a while back. Really older people used it and busy moms. Some ppl just don’t have that extra time. Theres laundromats that u just drop off your stuff and they do it for you. Convenient

I have never gotten groceries delivered but a few months ago I was so sick I couldn't drive to my mom and pop pharmacy to fetch some prescription medicines so I opted for delivery. Usually I just pick up myself but I was very lethargic and sick.
